But i do admit, i know NOTHING about goats other than they look cute on youtube. :)
Daniel is an absolute precious gem of a man. You can feel his tenderness through the screen. Blessed by your intentional work in goodness every day, sweet Jess. 💛🙏🏼🌱
We recently had a very weak lamb born. We brought it in and fed, warmed, medicated and held her all night, but she passed. In the words of my wonderful vet, "you gave her your heart, what more can you do?". I feel that you try everything and can have no regrets. I try to remember that every lamb season. I hope it will help someone else.
Daniel’s personality and music always leaves me blessed. You can see the beautiful light of Jesus within him, as with your family Jess. So glad he is doing an album and I’m excited to hear your song together (professionally recorded as I listened as soon as I found the old video of it). I pray for a wonderful release and outcome of his album so his gift and talent can be shared with the world. Isn’t it wonderful when God blesses us with such people as friends?
@@amandar7719 for sure!! I am a girly girl & never cared about a garden ever & I woke up a couple of years ago & thought...hmmm " I want to start a garden". I knew nothing about it at all. I always smile and chuckle when you comment on your mud, I'd be so happy to have a yard as dry as yours all winter (I live in England, so it never stops raining here 😆)
@@thedorkasaur It's ridiculous isn't it? Where I am, our ground stays waterlogged for about 4 months solid every year. Sometimes we get seagulls move in, they literally swim in our fields 😆 I'm so over winter!
Great to see Daniel, for some reason I smile deep down in my heart when the two of you are together. I live in zone 5 Southern Ontario and I have friends who grow artichokes in zone 4. Their foliage dies back every year but they come back in the spring. Arty should be growing amazing in just a few weeks with the warm weather you have. Your roses should be fine as well. Glad to see the worst is past you. Looking forward to watching your garden grow while mine is still sleeping. 💜
I would love one of the shirts.. I am gonna order one.. I have an idea for a sticker (but im not an artist) I think a sticker of your Pink gate that enters your garden would be soo pretty.. cant wait to listen to the album..
As a former breeder I think it's some sort of rule that when you really want a certain baby, you never get what you want. But healthy babies and mams is key for future breedings and THE true blessing. Way to Mama Wynona! Nature is resilient and the lessons learned in the last couple of weeks, priceless! Many of our gardens will be a bit behind or a little off this year for many different reasons but humans are resilient too and will make the very best out of adversity.
Her milk lines will go through her bucklings, her doelings will reflect their father's milk lines. Keeping one of those little guys for a breeder will be the best way to expand her genetics in the herd. We had a buckling last year who wasn't quite right, and momma knew and laid on him and suffocated him by laying on him overnight😭
Now I gotta buy the "Growing Gardener" shirt! Not because I was lucky enough to take the course, but because that's MY channel name AND my inspiration, Roots and Refuge, on the SAME shirt! How cool is that!??
The bucklings are so cute! I miss having goats... A note from an Ohioan on your gutters- make sure you are knocking down those pretty icicles. They are heavier than they look.

So happy to hear that many plants will pull through and that you are enjoying some nicer weather. I can hear the relief in your voice and see that your heart is lighter.
We are in Central Missouri, the first thing I did yesterday, when the snow started to melt, was to uncover all of my crops. I had covered them with straw before the snow started to fall. Our coldest day was -28°c @-18°f. I was so happy to see that everything apart from the rocket had survived. My Brussel sprouts look as happy as they did before. I took soil temps. The grass around the garden was frozen hard but under the cardboard and straw in my beds the temperature was 4°c.
I love to see Daniel! He just makes me smile. What an uplifting positive vibe he gives off. 🙂 Jess, the combo of all the people you surround yourself with is like pure sunshine.
I'm so glad that the weather has turned around and is allowing your temperatures to bring out the sun and bring smiles back to your faces. When it gets warm you can send some of it to us here in Michigan, especially the sunshine. God Bless you all.
Daniel is always so bubbly & happy like all the time. You could be in the worst mood & she his happy smile & totally forget why you were in a bad mood.
Do you put a bird feeder out for wild birds? I do, but only offer sunflower seeds so if any accidentally get planted I have flowers. Every year I get a few surprises 🌻
I haven't gotten into 5 seconds of Daniel speaking and I'm in tears... AT THE GYM 😬. not sure I should finish watching in public. Your hearts are penetrating mine. And gosh...I've said it for years...God speaks to me thru object lessons in the garden. Just love you guys. All of you.
Jess keep that beautiful Buckling. He will make your lines grow too. Also the beautiful polled doeling. Hehehe thanks for sharing your adorable babies .
I'm just a retired home gardner. I watch all your videos. You encourage me and keep me grounded. I really appreciate you and your family. My brother lives in north Arkansas. I've ordered my canvas bags! Blessings and hugs.
Just ordered my tote! So excited! I've been waiting for you to add these since you started your merch. Please put goats on a future one. My 13 year old niece is obsessed with goats and she would love it as would many other people I'm sure. Thank you for all that you do Jess and Miah. PewPewPew!!
I followed advice from a gardening site that said to put your poppy seeds in damp sand in a plastic bag and put in the refrigerator. I followed their directions & put them in for one week (they said two but I wanted to start them now) & pulled them out Sunday evening, they sprouted by last night. Sitting next to my grow light box last night they grew a half inch. Luckily I had prepped my soil yesterday evening & planted this morning before work, barely tucking their roots under some damp, fluffy potting soil. This is my first time growing oriental poppies from seed.
I started gardening because of you Jess and you inspire me to grow my own food and animals just like we use to in Ukraine before my parents moved here to the US. Thank you for all you do. May God keep blessing you and your family abundantly!
So nice to see Daniel. Looking forward to the "merch". So glad Winona kidded okay. I don't think my snow will melt until end of March. Ice Cicles are actually starting to melt. :)
February 2019 in Eastern Washington we got 29.8 inches of snow for a 2nd highest record since 1893. We still had snow on the ground on the 1st day of Spring. This year we got snow again last week but less than 4 inches and it's pretty much gone now. I'm hoping Spring is on it's way early this year. Love the new Tshirt!
The coldest it got here in Southeast Texas was 13°F and even my grass, broccoli, green onions, spinach and pea vines died and are now all crispy. We've had 3 days of 70° to 75°F now and the forecast temps for the next 2 weeks is well above freezing over night so I've already restarted everything I was growing.
I will be planting my second garden this year! Thank you for being such an amazing resource!!! My husband and I are caretakers of a youth camp in Wisconsin. We have a glorious 300 acres, and I finally get to have my little farm!!! Sadly for us, we have -20f in our cold snaps. 2 years ago we had -50f....It's a short growing season for us! I have to wait until May 1 at the earliest. Your videos keep me sane in March and April when I wish I could start planting!
I'm just south of Ft. Worth, TX and garden from my duplex. We had a -15 wind-chill and never have I been this cold!!! So thankful we have a fireplace and friends shared firewood. We lost power and just a few days ago, were allowed to drink and use water from the faucet. Many people are much worse off than we had it, especially in the southern half of the state. Only a hand full of years that we actually get snow, we might ice up a day I grew up on 8 acres and we had a ton of goats, chickens, donkey, mule, horse, and other animals. I'm married and with a mix of serious health stuff, we haven't been able to have our own place. Our duplex is butted up against an open field on church property. I got permission from the church and the pastor tilled me a 60 ft place to garden. A lot of my family gardened but it's been many years and I am relearning many things or learning for the first time. I know much more about flowers than I do veggies. I have been watching your videos and learning from them. I created a seed and warm area in our extra bedroom and I had a beautiful rack of bell pepper sprouts. We lost power for so long, I went from 20 sprouts to 4. :( My onions and spinach are great! I had just put in a bunch of Walla Wallas and Georgia Sweets (couldn't get my hands on TX 1015) and last year my first try didn't work. I'm excited for Spring and I sure hope we don't get any more surprises this year but all we can do is take it a little at a time. Thank you for your videos. Gardening helps me so much. I've always been a country girl but it has been a great escape.
We live in zone 5B (Flagstaff, Az) and we plant our onion and garlic bulbs in the fall and cover them with straw. They stay dormant through out the snow from winter and by spring they start growing. We leave the straw on them until we have our last frost. That's usually around May or June. Our onions and garlic end up so full and flavorful. Yours will be just fine!
Just ordered my T-shirt!! “Please plant me where the wild things grow” is such a beautiful saying and I love the T-shirts they look so beautiful!! I’m sooo excited to be able to get one! Thanks for all you do!🙏🏻🥰🇨🇦 and yes it’s cold here, and it’s so important to know how to survive in all kinds of weather.
Just ordered my first shirt from you guys and looking forward to Daniel’s music!!! Your channel became my refuge when my school garden was padlocked at the beginning of the lockdowns last March. I may be experiencing a little garden teacher PTSD right about now, lol. Your phrase about turning your waiting room into a classroom became my mantra! Keep up the great work as you continue to inspire us all!
We also had the coldest recorded temps, here in Oklahoma, also zone 7. 6” snow and -8°, with a -13° chill factor. My onions and cold weather seedlings made it. I cover them with plastic, in my raised beds.
Two more healthy babies. What a blessing. This year I so wanted to build a few more raised beds, but with the lumber prices rising so much, I’m just not sure. We’ll see. I love love the new shirt y’all designed. Daniel is such a nice guy. I’d love to buy the new album. So thankful the terrible freeze is gone. So many still struggling here in Houston. Our Son has a small Plumbing Company and he is working real late every night to try to help. I just love y’all’s garden and your channel. God bless!🌹
The snow did insulate things. My lettuce is all fine. It was buried. My broccoli that was above the snow is a mess. It was still making little florets in the elbows. It was my first time growing broccoli so I was sad to see it go. The leaves and florets sauteed with onion is now a favorite. I'm glad y'all came thru ok. East Texas is still a mess but we will get there.
My first year with a raised bed is the year Texas got a snow storm. I was accepting that I would just replant some things but I would at least try to cover my plants with a sheet to see what would happen. I have learned so much and a lot of things made it! Some of my indoor seedlings didn't make it with the power outages. Seems like there is time to start again!
Gorgeous Day with plants well preserved under the snow layer! Poppy seeds sown upon the snow!!Congrats on the buckling kids doing well! Wonderful to see and hear Daniel and the Praise Music happening! Love you Jess, Your Family Friends and Spirit within!!!
"60° with snow on the ground"....welcome to May in Northern Minnesota! Haha....I am so happy everything seemed to pull through! Your farm doesn't skip beat 😉

Question? the size of the 2XL says chest width 28". Even a decent-sized woman's chest is larger than 28", how does that work out????
Gail...I’ve purchased shirts from them before and I’m a 2x as well. The shirt fits perfectly. True to size.
Will you be offering this in a black V neck?
Oh this makes my heart so happy!!! I remember seeing that video of you two in your living room singing. Still gives me goosebumps. Bless y'all! ❤️

In my opinion, good milking genetics are best passed from doe to buck and then from buck to does. I'd keep one of those bucklings.
Elizabeth Keefner here. I was curious about that and wondering if it would worth keeping one of the bucklings.
The desired genetics that present themselves are the ones you want to keep, buck or doe.
That was my confusion. Wouldn't you rather have a buck from that goat to bread the other girls for a quicker spread of that good genetics. but then... you dont know if the buck inherited those genetics until after a next generation...
I just ordered my shirt! THANK YOU for everything you do including offering the v-neck shirts. They are so much more comfortable.
YAY, DANIEL YOUR BACK!!!~ SO GLAD TO SEE YOU AT JESS AND MIAHS AGAIN!~
"60° with snow on the ground"....welcome to May in Northern Minnesota! Haha....I am so happy everything seemed to pull through! Your farm doesn't skip beat 😉
DANIEL! How exciting! I hope the music gets made - will for sure pick up a copy! Love the bag idea!
Hi from Anchorage Alaska, your garlic should do just fine. Mine comes back even unmatched. The onions will be hit or miss depending on how well they were mulched. Good luck. Love your content. Kudos.
Received my green stalk last week. Thanks for the discount. Looking forward to getting it planted.
