I have been climbing trees for decades as a contract climber, so of course I am interested in all your videos. But beyond the content it is your style that I am loving the most. No matter what is going on in my life I always find your content calming, relaxing, and just plain enjoyable..
Another great video. You have two very strong talents. Your skills as a forester and your ability to entertain us while educating us on real world practical knowledge and skills. Really enjoy your work. Thank you for the effort you put into it and keep em coming.
I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now and just realized your narrative style reminds me very much of the same style Warren Miller used when narrating his ski videos back in the 1970’s and 80’s. I’ve learned a lot from you and really appreciate your approach to managing your property. Not bad for a left coaster. 😉
Kind of sounds like Congress, trying to justify why they need a raise, even though they don't do anything constructive, and despite the graft, corruption, and kick-backs, along with the insider trading they're privy to.
I have never criticized you for anything… but I’m concerned about you getting yourself into trouble… this is one of my favorite channels and I don’t want you to stop producing these very entertaining videos. Now that you have sold yourself that lumber, you are responsible for the taxes on that dollar!!! If you had just swallowed your pride and admitted that you wanted to cut more timber, the IRS wouldn’t be involved! You better check with your tax lawyer before it’s too late…. I’ll keep you in my prayers 😊
Same here, i had too much firewood, so i just burned some in a big pile. As a result i did not have too much firewood anymore. So i just went cutting more firewood
I appreciate the leaving the hangups in the video. I was just thinking how I wish i didn't get my saw pinched one every cut when I'm getting logs into smaller logs and then yours got pinched. Maybe if you sell the lumber to the deer, they sell it to the mushrooms, and they sell it back to the trees, everybody wins
Here is a tip for the laugh your opening gave. You can pretend it's to buy a piece of wood if you'd like, so you can get back to refilling those stocks. Feel free to use that piece of wood anywhere you see fit since shipping probably won't work out
Micheal, may I suggest Sir, use your trees to build nice cabins and hire a funny little happy man to rent all theses dream locations wooden mini (low-cost/quickbuild) homes. ☄️ O yes almost forgot, I have a big question also that burns my east coast mouth.. 🙏🏼 why never cants? Like sawing it 9x9, 12x12, 16x16..... so the sub-inner question is: Can cants could be considered when cutting countless trees like you just cutted?!. [That english traduction is a wacko C parade] Let's say you have the forks and machine ti stack cants efficiently... 🙏🏼 tanks for the time Mike.❤
Dude just felled a tree using leverage, sold his lumber to himself without arguing price, and showed a tractor/winch setup I've never seen. In one video. And personally, I like to hang my saw up in a tree at least once every trip to remind myself I'm not perfect.
The too small for Lumber would be a good size for a log cabin or a sauna. Possible revenue source? Or at least content Shed for equipment or Lumber drying. Just like 3D printing accessories for the 3D printer.
Mill it and don't worry about it. Looks like you've got lots of room to stack lumber. I'm sure you can find a buyer, even if you're well off the beaten path.
Somebody please tell me what is the name / brand / manufacturer of that 3point tractor PTO driven skid stop winch system on the back of his tractor. I’m in northwest Arkansas and have never seen that implement. Is that west coast kind of thing?
Not just a west coast thing. Just look them up online. "logging winch" or "PTO logging winch." I have a Farmi winch (made in Sweden?) on a 39 hp Kubota. The winches are usually sized according to the hp of your tractor.
Love it! You’re both clever and funny. Just curious, do your trees always fall exactly where intended or do you leave them out? An occasional “oops” clip might be fun. 😊
When a man is felling trees there is always the risk that the tree will fall in a manner that was unintended. I think it's odd that I have never seen an example of that. Perhaps Mr. Wilson could show us an example one day but I would not ask him risk his own safety in an effort to do so.
A bit heavy handed for a Dead Dying And Disease exemption... your thinning is more like 90%less like 10%... I'm not complaining. But how about using those poles for outdoor furniture like in the show Yellowstone... check it out
Nice reminder Michael. Don't get hung-up by your hang-ups too long without addressing them, or you'll just keep making more. ...as to marketing to deer...hmm...seems to me they already have more timber than you...but if you hire the right pr firm and devise the right marketing plan, no doubt you can convince them that your product is somehow cheaper and more superior than the free woods they already have. Somehow I don't think they will go for it, but you never know?! Dumber things have happened! 😅
The Deere maybe better if you ate them coz I think with your current business deal about selling timber to yourself, you may go a little hungry and that's where the Deere will come in handy. LOL
I liked how you pried those trees down. Now this present video has become a prior video. Hmm. Maybe I've been watching too many of your videos. Naaa. Impossible.
It is not like you are short on space for storing milled lumber, and plastic is cheap so it is not a terrible investment to have a pile of milled sitting around for when lumber prices get better, assuming you have the funds to let the gas money sit tied up in the forrest.
I have been climbing trees for decades as a contract climber, so of course I am interested in all your videos. But beyond the content it is your style that I am loving the most. No matter what is going on in my life I always find your content calming, relaxing, and just plain enjoyable..
I KNOW that lever log technique is going to save me time same day, and it may save my life. Much appreciated!

Best effort at rationalization I've seen for a long time! I'm going to increase my pay from myself, just keep it quiet.

If he sells low and buys high, he can deduct the operating losses 🤯
😂😂😂Lol 😂Lol
@@awldune That might reduce the income tax for his logging business, but he's still on the hook for sales taxes! 💵💵💵
Oregon, no sales tax.
Always interesting, often as inspiration ( my wife gets nervous when I tell her about the inspiration)….
Boy!You sure have a way with words! Lot of fun!
I like your improvised wedge. Gonna have to borrow that one.
i think your plan to sell to the deer is outstanding. Many deer are out for doe and are always looking for a few bucks
Appreciate the lever wedge....I'll use that one somewhere! Yeah, peavey in the log pile....invaluable!!
I learn something useful in every one of your videos! Thank you!
Give your self a big discount for being such a good customer 😅!
He should probably also get something for referring himself to himself...like a finder's fee.

Gotta love those loopholes! Have a great day! Kris

love the lever technique. learned something new today.
Thanks for the forestie fun.
Ha - You're a riot Mr Wilson!🤣🤣🤣
You are such a hoot! 😝🥰
I like the way you used that tree to get the leaner down. I'm going to use it next time.
Hope you give yourself a good deal on that lumber in the end. Thanks for another great video.
Those deer might have a buck or two. 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The bucks will always lowball you.
Your tractor always smokes this much, the sun angle just lets you see it😮
Those 32’s were a good start to that Aframe before they became 16’s 😁
Nice video. Sorry your bar got hung up.
See it happens even ot the best of them! LOL!
Oooo, Archimedes would be proud of your application of his lever principle.
show off😅 Seriously thanks for letting people see how a pro works in this very dangerous job
I've got another loophole: use the lumber to build storage sheds for more lumber. Repeat as necessary.
Your logic is impressive 😂
Just do what you gotta do to get by and make what you got planned happen no one here going to complain that we’re watching you work .
How to get audited by the IRS in 3:16 flat. (Love the humor.)
Thanks for saying it so I didn't have to
You’re like a logging lumber lawyer.
Your right half of the battle is making the sale. The good thing is your working on it.
We love work and there are always some loopholes for work.
Funny opening :P
@7:31, if no tree nearby to use as a lever, do a bore cut and put the pole in it and rotate to direct the felling.
Dang ! I'm going to use this trick and get myself rich AF!! Thanks
DANG is right ! lol
@@DANG-- 🤣
If you build something with the lumber, that’s also another loophole, I 🤔
With nails as a tax deductible!
I think you are off the hook! And there is a song in there too. Rolling st nes spelt with out the o for some missing reason. Great video, thank you.
Maybe use some of the lumber to build a large sign offering lumber for sale.
Here is a tip for the laugh your opening gave. You can pretend it's to buy a piece of wood if you'd like, so you can get back to refilling those stocks. Feel free to use that piece of wood anywhere you see fit since shipping probably won't work out
You should go talk with the lumber graders union to see what the cost of grading would be so you can sell to stores.

Sounds to me that you have lots of hangups Mr. Wilso!!😅
What is the process for knowing which ones to thin out?
When negotiating complex deals with yourself like this remember to cut the other guy a little slack.
Now, this comment made me laugh. 😁👍

Just like 3D printing accessories for the 3D printer.
The deer might buy it if you use it to build a sawmill shed so they can lay on the sawdust out of the elements. 🤣
Did you learn the selling technique from Congress?😁
Mill it and don't worry about it. Looks like you've got lots of room to stack lumber. I'm sure you can find a buyer, even if you're well off the beaten path.
3:23, sounds like you have the mind of a government official. :)
You may want to consult the IRS codes. Could be some inside trading there. 🤔🤣🤣
Definite double demerit accounting right there!!! 😂😂
ya, i keep telling my self the same thing. lol love the video
Using a long pole as a pry bar is genius!
He said to hisself "Self, have I got a deal for me!"
3 peavey , 2 as log jacks also . love them
I've always heard it called a cant hook.
Peavy has a spike, cant hook, doesn’t.
has anyone ever used them drill wedges if so how good are they?
Have you ever used your logging winch to pull over the back leaners? Seems like that should work.
That was a shamefully low stump in that first fell. 😂
There are some people down the coast in LA that might be looking for some lumber
Is that a pto winch on your 3point attachment? Slick
What does your tractor weigh with the attached accessories?
when you cut 32s, how long are they really? you don't want to end up with 7 ft 11 inch boards.
😂 you’re killin me.
You so funny...enjoying your videos

With that type of logic you should run for public office.

I was going to type the same thing but you beat me to it LOL!!!
is the land you cut on yours?
I want to sell some lumber but I also don't really feel like dealing with strangers
In NY that would not be a thinning. It would be a wildlife cut.
What ya do on the snow?
Are you kidding me we don’t want to cut all the trees down just one at a time CHOP CHOP😎
Clearly taking notes from the Government

They don't come much dumber than a deer.
You know you missed using your saw and that’s all the reason why you sold that wood 😂😂
I'm interested in this "inter-species arbitrage" -- let us know how that goes! 😂😂
The Deere maybe better if you ate them coz I think with your current business deal about selling timber to yourself, you may go a little hungry and that's where the Deere will come in handy. LOL
It's okay to change your mind
You could always turn into a self build channel and use the wood??
You could sell the lumber to the deer for a buck....I'm just here for the sawdust.....
I liked how you pried those trees down. Now this present video has become a prior video. Hmm. Maybe I've been watching too many of your videos. Naaa. Impossible.
Watch it Wilson, your stumps are getting shorter and shorter.
The first step is admitting you have a milling problem.
It is not like you are short on space for storing milled lumber, and plastic is cheap so it is not a terrible investment to have a pile of milled sitting around for when lumber prices get better, assuming you have the funds to let the gas money sit tied up in the forrest.
The sales and income Taxes will eat up that dollar if you keep selling yourself stuff. LOL
Did you pay sales tax? Otherwise the loophole is more like a trap you could fall in.
Dont forget to pay taxs on that dollar
Dude you’re gunna make a killing with your new business model! Probably should have patented it..
