@Bhargav Chavda they're top 2 when it comes to making timeless, quality hip-hop. They were able to adapt into the new era better than most rappers of their era and when it comes to having the complete package of beats, rhymes, flow, etc. and I can't think of many who could compete when you talk about their overall volumes of work. You can argue about who is more technical and uses more metaphors, but in the grand scheme of things, those two are meaningless when talking about the greatest overall.
Illmatic, God's Son, Stillmatic, It was Written is all Classics. Lost tapes was the sleeper album, life is good is very dope. Nasir is very dope as well. Lyrically, Jay not seeing Nas, Lupe, or Black thought. B/c he is so successful with business ventures, his impact, and his wife he is elevated. DUB2point0 so before he was huge in business he was huge in being a rapper and he has more classic platinum albums than nas. If nas was as great every album would’ve sold as such. If nas drops an album today it will not get played like a great artist should.
Ice Cube. From NWA to his solo career, all his films, his basketball league, longevity... He singlehandedly dismantled the greatest Rap group of all time: NWA... Cube is being slept on.
How do people not pay attention to this?! Cubes a true G. And since they used B for how hov is the greatest. I didn't see hov in the soldier video....tho i saw cube..who said not one fkn word. No need.
FACTS but still Jay-Zs word play is impeccable..difficulty level at 1000 .. complex and will have you like WOAH in mid bar. IJS...i from the west coast and I'm 43... I love CUBE
but Ice Cube was a part of the group so that makes it different
Definitive1 that's only because Cube was most likely the best writer from NWA I mean he wrote Boyz in the hood I still play that song regularly and only Ez and Jerry had the problem with cube not rest of the group and Dre and D.O.C was getting ready to go as well so it won't that hard for Cube to dismantle them The D.O.C. and Ren were dope writers the chronic album the D.O.C. wrote for Dre is a classic it was basically Ren vs Cube I like Ren think he is dope but in reality he was Eazys bitch
Nobody cares about a cube song in 2019 but the world still stops when jayz drop a song
Why does everyone talk about Nas and forget about the album he did with Damian Jnr Gong Marley Distant Relatives
Dope album. They forget Streets Disciple too!
Because thats a collab album that dont count
Same way nobody talking about watch the throne
One of Nas greatest album....#classic
That "Best of both world" with R. Kelly was a super dope album.
2Pac is the GOAT. He might not have been the best lyrically but he made the best songs. When it was time to kick a freestyle he would spit off the dome not written rhymes. He was a better live performance not just standing in 1 place making hand gestures. He had music that your kids could feel all the way to grandma and grandpa. He was the total package.
Pac ain’t no best of all time he is one of the goats andhe had his time bro. But there are so many rappers with more accolades and accomplishments or were better stylistically. But yes I’m his short peak he with death row he wielded tremendous influence.
@@louisb5766 it's 2Pac then you can find who #1 is after you put him at the top of the list. He is above the list he is a god even Nas said that
@@DeadlyAllianceTV that’s simply one gods opinion, where can I find that video? That sounds dope.
@@louisb5766 Nas was on 106 and Park and he said that on BET. You can search that on UA-cam. I'm not really about to listen to somebody argue against that. Especially if you aren't a damn good rapper yourself.
I didn’t find video, and I saw a couple of videos, questioning your entire premise to its core, and yea I would rely on ad hominem attacks instead of attacking the point that he wasn’t hear long enough when we’re talking about influence, or his clear lack of lyricism and flow when we’re talking about absolute top.

Illmatic
The rapper
@4:42 “Does Nas have 3 classic albums?!” By just saying that...that white boy removed himself from adult conversation
bradders344 EXACTLY
bradders344 Nigga that statement is true AF tho! I fuckin loooove Nas but bro are there really 3 nas albums that are just through and through classics? Illmatic and Stillmatic are a given but idk
bradders344 can Nas kill Jay's career? You Damn right he could
1 hot album every 10 year average and that's...…….
name the three albums then, i'll wait... it's only 2 max
guys im sorry but I've listened to Nas and Rakim
And of course NAS are the letters they spelled
I would say they are easily top 2.
Nas and Lupe Fiasco
Nas doesn’t have enough work to be better than Jay-Z
Illmatic, God's Son, Stillmatic, It was Written is all Classics. Lost tapes was the sleeper album, life is good is very dope. Nasir is very dope as well. Lyrically, Jay not seeing Nas, Lupe, or Black thought. B/c he is so successful with business ventures, his impact, and his wife he is elevated. He is definitely in my top 10 and Is on of the Greatest, but not better than those guys.
Y’all really think the masses will agree Jay Z is the greatest? Y’all buggin!! This is why Hot 97 ain’t the wave
I WOULDN'T🤔🤔 K-DOT will murder JAY-Z eazilly bruuuuuh😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
By the way, the average person does believe he’s the greatest! You will never find another rapper like him in your life time. Y’all really think being a great artist is easy. It clearly shows that most people don’t have a talent so it’s hard to see it in others. You don’t have to listen to an artist in order to see their greatness. Smdh!
@@diceman1011 you mean the average people in NYC right? People from other States may not agree and they will think for Eminem
Jason Askins Out of all people you would bring up an artist that talks about killing his family members, right? He’s it not as great as you think he is. And by the way, Em is not even close. NYC doesn’t have anything to do with that. Just take a good look at Jays greatest of over 20 years. Em has one great album and one good one...go get a life fam!

@Adam A. That's a fan lie lol n you know it.
Nas got 2 really dope albums just like Jay.
Nas was the only rapper with 2 5 Mic albums.
NAS is the greatest rapper to ever live, PERIOD!! It amazes me that people go crazy when hov talks about growth and the black man’s plight at damn there 50 years old. NAS has been uplifting people’s mind since “black girl lost”! It just took y’all to snap out the matrix to see it 🤷🏾♂️
BIG FACTS!!!
Too much jay z bias in da media...Nas don't need da limelight his work does da talking......Jayz become woke nearly 50 years old....4.44 was inspired by Life is Good.....
and now more people hear that message because the rapper with more reach, more weight in the game has started talking about it. Jay-z didn't become bigger because people just decided to say "hey lets just like this guy", no, his body of work speaks for itself

At no point in time was there anybody hotter than 2pac in 94-96.... not to take anything away from Jigga
yeah he was hot for 2 years, 2 YEARS! jay been hot for decades
@Leon Müller Nah Bro neither have ever brought the heat like Pac.
Nas was hotter in that period alone, plus 50 in 2003, and Eminem during the first half of the 2000s, and Rakim during the first half of the 90s
Nahh Kanye 2007-2010 was the hottest rapper ever. Numbers don't lie.
George Crowcroft Rakim's reign was legendary, he revolutionized hip hop!
Andre 3000 , Tupac , Biggie, Nas , Lil Wayne Big L , Ice Cube & Eminem are most people are gonna agree with Eminem because his subject matter and crazy lyrics but he waxed Jay on Renegade
Ok. You do you
I thought we judge rappers/MCs based on lyrical content, metaphors....not by popularity and money....
Those are criteria for best rapper. The best and the greatest aren't necessarily the same.
Exactly
You could find a guy on sound cloud with 12 followers with great lyrical content, metaphors and fucking quadruple entendres but that doesn’t make them the greatest rapper stoopid
Lyrically I would say big L is one of the best, he didn’t have any major impact on hip hop or even make much money but purely lyrically he is a GOAT
@@Victor-cr3xi no LL?
Tupac and nas are the two greatest rappers ever period.
How tf can Nas be better tf............name me a nas song from the last 5 years ill salute you haha dont google it
Fabolous is better than nas
billy kahn name a song from 2pac in the last 5 years, Nas in the 90s was 10* better than Jay Z ever was
Listen true hip hop fan knows jay z can’t touch nas. Jay z is definitely top 5 but nas is better.
Kelvin Nunez well said brother
Lil wayne influenced the top people out there. K dot, drake, ye, and everybody. Even new up comers like jid
ADRIAN Gunderson-Smith no he the father of mumble rappers
@@chasemula6309 Future and Gucci mane are the god fathers of that
Kanye/Drake/ both have better material than Wayne
Nas is better than Jay Z
No.
Nas won the battle, Jay won the war. Jay is definitely greater and even Nas knows that. I fw Nas though. Top 5 of all time
@@kordjazzapata8254 Top 20
Jay in his prime was a great emcee but come on, he isn’t the GOAT. I don’t see how anybody can call Jay of all people the greatest rapper.
Biggie, Nas and Eminem in their prime were better than Jay
Prime Eminem was a monster, dropped 3 classics back to back
@@elory9576 eminem is corny af
@@elory9576 Em doesnt have a classic album
Haha Ebro said Tupac and biggie didn't put out much material and he was right about Biggie but Pac put out more in 6 years than Jay Z has in 20 years lol what is he talking about
JAY PHILOCYPHER and jay and big still did better then him
It’s Ebro lmao nuff said
JAY PHILOCYPHER for real, when I heard Ebro say this early I almost stopped the video.
@@barbiegang9176 Are you on Crack lol Tupac has had more success than both Biggie and Jay. His album sales beat both Jay And Biggies put together, even now when Jay has been putting out music since Pac died 22 years ago. So before you make statements like you know something actually know what your saying lol.
Jay z is the highest paying rapper and before big died he was about to outshine pac that’s why puffy have so much money ... big and jay foh here you Bozo
*Black Thought...Rhyne for Rhyme/ Bar for Bar..and don't no one want smoke with Black Thought on the Mic ...
Are you serious? NAS > JAYZ both are great but only one created Illmatic. That was a flawless record.
You talking about that old ass album, let’s compare the last few albums and tracks...
Jay-Z is the GOAT did it all without A Dad and built his own Wealth! Nas didn't, sorry...
@Θωμάς Παπαντώνης STRAIGHT FACTS.
@Jarrel Ely Jay is the GOAT
@@OfficialTruDru There r many wealthy rappers that grew up without a dad
Lil Wayne is the best answer AND the RIGHT ANSWER bcuz his bars are dumb better than Jay z and his impact is bigger AND Y'ALL ARE NY BIASED
Bro lol Nas made a whole song from a guns point of view. GTFOH. NAS
Ehhh... Nas has deeper songs but I think Jay has way more range than Nas honestly.
@ismail adam He good. Just not consistent enough for me. Jay #1 and it's not really close.
@@DavidColemanKing ehh..jay puts out better overall songs, but from a strictly lyrical perspective, Nas is better. Jay just brags a lot in his verses
@@DavidColemanKing if anything nas is more consistant than jay z jay z is just more consistant at making money while nas is more consistant at making music
Way more range than esco?? Dude nas's range is unlimited. You might need to binge on nas's discog and come back here and apologize to the masses.....real talk😂😂😂
This dude really said Drake, Kanye??where is Mos Def, Nas, Immortal Technique, Gza, MF Doom?
THANK YOU! People forget abt Mos Def frfr
These sell outs don't listen to hip pop
Immortal technique??
That's a fact
Jason Taylor immortal technique is trash LMFAO
Nas. According to the professional critics, and the consumers, Nas' discography is better. Plus Nas influenced Jay's rhyme style, and spanked him in a battle. Storytelling and lyrical content also goes to Nas.
sleep1061
Nas discography better than JayZ? ... No
Ether ain't better than Takeover.
Nas definitely influenced Jay, you're right about that but everything else you're wrong.
santanaoutlaw lemme guess, u still aint grow no mustache

@@santanaoutlaw not really adjectives express things that you cant put coloful
Az influenced jays flow style that’s why nas mentioned it
JAY-Z is the G.O.A.T Period. Listen to his music carefully and it’s straight fire. Jay has NEVER had a bad album. The accomplishments. The success. He’s been on top for 26 years. It’s just not a comparison anymore.

St Matteos right n they didn’t even say lil Wayne as one of the greats but they say drake
Nas didn’t have good beats that’s a lot to do with why he not the greatest
