⚡ SOLIDWORKS TUTORIAL || mold tools || Simple mold design using cavity feature.

Hello everyone,
This is the first tutorial on mold design. In this video, we will see how to use cavity feature to make a mold from a pattern. This method is applied only to the simple and symmetric pattern and not to the complex pattern.
In the subsequent lecture, we will see how to design mold for complex shapes and thin features.

So making the mold is pretty straight forward. Now say i want to use the boxes i made and edit them independently outside of assembly. How do i do this? Everytime i attempt this it delete the imprint as soon as i make a change to the box.

It's possible to do this but you have to break the references between the two parts. Right click the part in the feature manager tree, then select 'list external references' from the pop up menu. Once the external references are listed, you can choose to break them.
