I learned braiding manes as a kid, and people have NO idea how much of a real craft it is!!! We did parade horses and show horses( drafts) and we loved it! Great way to get “ horse money” to buy stuff for our own horses! My horse was a perch/ quarter mix… the best mare ever! Love your videos! Always stream them. Love the relationship you and your family have with your own horses! Thank you for sharing with us♥️🙋‍♀️☮️🕉🙏🏻‼️

I have a long time friend who lives in Florida who's been a braider for a long time. She travels all over the south for paint and quarter horse shows amongst other things. We met randomly on a plane while I was on a flight to a conference to present during my training as an equine veterinarian. Interesting to see someone else in that small community.

I know that area! Daughter lives over in Greenwich, we also go to the Washington County Fair! Very interesting! Brenda, I think Jim's horses would look great that way, especially the colts!! When I was a kid we had a guy that shod horses, but horses were going out as tractors were replacing them- he went to the race tracks and shod race horses until he got to old to do it!

Nice video Jim. I'm not partial to braiding but do appreciate the talent and work involved in doing it. A horse with a roached mane is certainly easier to care for but my horses always lived outside for 7 months of the year and I wanted them to have manes to help them shake off the insects. Always kept them combed and trimmed and the pastures free of "burdocks"! When I was shoeing I was the "show" farrier at some shows in VT. and NH. and enjoyed working especially with the 4H show in Woodstock for several years and Orange County is where most of my clients lived so I know Tunbridge well! ....In this video Erica said she has never been kicked and I can say the same about my horse shoeing although a Morgan mare, while I was working on a rear hoof, pulled me back and threw me across the barn, no harm done! Also have been bit on the butt a few times while working on front hooves, but it comes with the territory! Not all animals have been properly trained about having their legs and hooves handled, unfortunately, and I should add that it is NOT the farrier's job to do this. Looking forward to seeing you handle those new plows!

Thank you for this different offset then your norm. It's a change but definitely shows other horse ways. I just grew up basically horses were for work or pets not really anything else. I ruined my rhomboids and damaged the nerves, on both sides from repetitive motion. Hope she knows that hot yoga is the only. way to reverse the muscle memory.
