i'm happy with the way the judiciary have been chastised in this situation. They will learn sense. The partisan is too much. The Judiciary shouldn't have involved themselves
Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa you are 100% correct. Hon Afenyo Markins behaviour speaks volumes, he should explain Articles 115, 117, 118, 122 and stop this behavoiur.
A simple question that can resolve the present controversy in Parliament in respect of the four vacation of parliamentary seats. Question: *When should a Member of Parliament vacate his seat. Is it during his present term in office or during his probable future term in office, should he win the future election?* Article 97 clause 1, paragraphs g and h of the constitution of Ghana. 1) A member of Parliament shall vacate his seat in parliament - (g) if he leaves the party of which he was a member at the time of his election to Parliament to join another party or seeks to remain in Parliament as an independent member; or (h) if he was elected a member of Parliament as an independent candidate and joins a political party. If it is argued that the member of parliament must not vacate his present seat but rather vacate a future seat if he probably wins a future election, then it would imply that, immediately he is declared a member of parliament in future, he must immediately vacate his seat, so that another election is organized for him to probably win again. This view would amount to causing other parliamentary candidates (including the political party candidates to contest the same elections twice) and to what end? If this view is upheld, it would also imply that a member of parliament who becomes the Speaker of Parliament, must not vacate his present seat in parliament but rather vacate a probable future seat in parliament. It would also imply that upon dissolution of parliament, members should vacate their probable future parliamentary seats. *Second follow-up question* In the context of this discussion, at which point, can it be conclusive that a member of parliament has either left his political party or joined a political party (if he was initially independent) ? *Answer to question two* The time of leaving the political party or joining one (if he was independent) occurs before the end of the present term of parliament. The time of filing for candidacy with the Electoral Commission is therefore reasonably conclusive as the time that he has left his political party or joined a political party (if he was independent). *Final question* Should a political party be the only one to report that a person is no longer a member of the party? *Answer* In this context, any citizen can point out or report a wrongdoing *Summary* Article 97 is clear that the parliamentary seat to be vacated is the present seat and not a future probabilistic seat. The time of filing for candidacy with the Electoral Commission contrary to his "present status in parliament" is therefore the reasonable conclusive evidence that a member of parliament has either left his party, or joined a party (if he was independent); *and must therefore vacate his seat with immediate effect*,_
My brother leave this ignorant npp people. How can a vacation takes place if there is no occupation. Clearly the vacation of seat being referred to here is in anticipation of the current Parliament or not future. In the sense that the constitution referred to a member of Parliament and not a parliamentary candidate. So who is a member of Parliament? The one voted for and is currently occupying a parliamentary seat in Parliament so if the constitution say a member of parliamentary there is no doubt it's talking about the mp occupying seat in the current Parliament
The SC thought the ndc was just going to recoiled and let things go back to normal. They will learn sense that the SC cannot meddle itself into parliament business
The childish people are the ones who've gone to takeover seats that don't have their names on them. Ghanaians are watching the chaos you are generating.
If you can transact business wherever you sit why did you move to the right side of the speaker. You could as well sit on your seats and still carry your “majority” status. Politicians and lawyers will be the bane of this country
What crime has the speaker committed? He only followed precedence set by the previous speaker. NPP believes in the "rules based order". When their interests are touched NPP will bend the laws to their advantage. The bye elections in Ejisu and Kumawu render whatever justifications for denial of SALL representation in Parliament indefensible. The government knows that if elections are held in SALL NDC will be the majority in Parliament. That is why the courts held stubbornly to their position to deprive the people of representation. So what is all this fuss about?
Few days to elections and see what these guys are doing. I mean Npp and Ndc. These idiots don't have Ghana at heart. We the youth will vote you guys out and amend the old school constitution. This is what happened when the president appoints the attorney General. Both parties won't change it because it favors them. Vote wisely
NDC want disorder in Ghana. So far NPP has done extremely well to ignore the NDC provocations to cause violence.NPP should continue to use lawful and dignified approach to resolve the impasse. The world is watching. We know who is reasonable and lawful and who is unreasonable and lawless. Bagbin, NDC MPs and party must know the implications and consequences of their drama. It is all part of Ghana history. It will haunt them through history. They will pay for their unruliness. Ghanaians are not clueless and naive to understand what is happening.
you are a mumu. Can you tellus why the NPP are so eager for the majority? That should tell you that they have a majority. An old man like you should have the brains to think
Samy tell your NDC minority to stop sitting at the majority side then they will come and sit and stop deceiving Ghanaians, the speaker claims he has not declared your side as the majority, but don't worry 7th December is just in few days😂
So honorable Ablakwa, when you went into the chamber and sat on seats that had the name tags of different people, leaving the seats that had your own name tags empty, was that not childish behavior from adults like you guys? All of you are behaving immaturely.
U are very foolish to the highest point & very stupid people lyk u finds it difficult to accept simple truth. Aboa ba lyk u. How many people in ur family have positive credibility lyk Hon. Ablakwa.
i'm happy with the way the judiciary have been chastised in this situation. They will learn sense. The partisan is too much. The Judiciary shouldn't have involved themselves
Wisdom is speaking thank you My MP Samuel Ablakwa

Article 97 clause 1, paragraphs g and h of the constitution of Ghana.
1) A member of Parliament shall vacate his seat in parliament -
(g) if he leaves the party of which he was a member at the time of his election to Parliament to join another party or seeks to remain in Parliament as an independent member; or

*Second follow-up question*
In the context of this discussion, at which point, can it be conclusive that a member of parliament has either left his political party or joined a political party (if he was initially independent) ?
*Answer to question two*
The time of leaving the political party or joining one (if he was independent) occurs before the end of the present term of parliament.
The time of filing for candidacy with the Electoral Commission is therefore reasonably conclusive as the time that he has left his political party or joined a political party (if he was independent).
*Final question*
Should a political party be the only one to report that a person is no longer a member of the party?
*Answer*
In this context, any citizen can point out or report a wrongdoing
*Summary*
Article 97 is clear that the parliamentary seat to be vacated is the present seat and not a future probabilistic seat.
The time of filing for candidacy with the Electoral Commission contrary to his "present status in parliament" is therefore the reasonable conclusive evidence that a member of parliament has either left his party, or joined a party (if he was independent); *and must therefore vacate his seat with immediate effect*,_
So the NPP didn't know this to have exiled the Fomena MP?

I am with the view that the actions of the NPP caucus in parliament and the party as a whole is affirmation to the NDC setting Ghana agenda.
Ghanaians are watching the wreckless NPP. I like and would always like Hon. Kennedy. He is always honest and would speak the truth anytime.
That evil man
Honest for where, that lier
Akomea the useless defender 😂
The SC thought the ndc was just going to recoiled and let things go back to normal. They will learn sense that the SC cannot meddle itself into parliament business
What is Hon. Akomea coming to say and he is complaining about time, his contributions are always non syla
Forget about him
This is why I still believe Osei Kyei Mensah is the best Majority leader in the NPP.
The childish people are the ones who've gone to takeover seats that don't have their names on them. Ghanaians are watching the chaos you are generating.
🤣🤣🤣. And as mature adults what do you do when one is childish. Movitor Azui Korsiator
If you can transact business wherever you sit why did you move to the right side of the speaker. You could as well sit on your seats and still carry your “majority” status. Politicians and lawyers will be the bane of this country
ask the NPP same question. Mumu
What crime has the speaker committed?
He only followed precedence set by the previous speaker.
NPP believes in the "rules based order". When their interests are touched NPP will bend the laws to their advantage.

You which youth? Disappointed NPP. Why is it hard to just admit the party you sheepishly voted for has failed and stop bundling parties together.
NDC want disorder in Ghana. So far NPP has done extremely well to ignore the NDC provocations to cause violence.NPP should continue to use lawful and dignified approach to resolve the impasse.

So honorable Ablakwa, when you went into the chamber and sat on seats that had the name tags of different people, leaving the seats that had your own name tags empty, was that not childish behavior from adults like you guys?
All of you are behaving immaturely.
