      TRUE about being 110% in tune with his machine! First time I saw his "show" - I covered my eyes, many times believing "This would not end well"!! - after several conversations with him & looking over his highly modified gyro ...and watching many of his displays since ..I have utmost respect! Although I fear others with far less skills may try to emulate such advanced maneuvers WITH-OUT the proper aerobatic FEEL & knowledge!

    Nice video. I hope Barry will be at Bensen Days 2023. I've done some gyro flying with my friend Greg Spicola over the years but just recently decided to get my gyro license. I'm the very lucky winner of the recent PRA raffle of the single seat Dominator. Barry is certainly in a class of his own when it comes to this sort of a display. A few come close, Greg Spicola is one Roy Davis another, then that gent who was doing Lawn Dart impressions with the new ELA at Bensen Days...which I believe did catch Barry's attention when he went along for a ride.🙂. @@GyroGerald Yes, there are a lot of gyrocopters in Russia, but mostly they are heavy. Because we use car engines more often. In Russia, a gyroplane is more often used for work and not for entertainment. Especially in winter, when all water bodies freeze and you can easily land or take off from any lake or river. You can catch one fish weighing 15-20 kg. And sometimes more. And also use the delivery and rest. But in our country, few people post their videos on UA-cam because they fly almost illegally. In our country, no one controls and does not look after small aircraft, the main thing is not to fly in, not to fly over closed objects. Of all the American channels, yours is the most spectacular, but the only thing I would like is more comments From you.

      @@omeobandit9928 1. First of all used for elite fishing in winter. When lakes and rivers freeze in the distant wilderness. Ice is a comfortable flat airfield. They fly very far from settlements and catch very large fish.
      2. Used to deliver fuel, medicine, products to hard-to-reach places. Gold Miners Hunters Foresters and many others. A few years ago, from the estate, a crocodile ran away from us, 2 gyroplane was looking for him.
      3. And the third point is to fly from one place to another or just ride, have fun, relax.

    Virtually every video I've watched of 'gyrocopters' demonstrates a high level of rotor/cyclic vibration. I hold flight certifications in both military rotary-wing and civil fixed-wing high performance retractable single and multi-engine airplanes. Autorotation is supposed to be the most stable flight envelope of rotary flight - but apparently not for gyroplanes. I've never encountered such vibration in any turbine helicopter I've flown in or out of combat or general aviation.

    • @GyroGerald
      @GyroGerald  Рік тому

      All gyroplanes do this, some just do it more than others, its called dissymmetry of lift in autogyro causing cyclic vibration. The rotors are fixed angle and do not adjust as the rotate. Plus the wimd blowing through them causes rotation whereas in a helicopter the rotors are powered and adjust angle. Trust me tjat was one of my first concerns when i started gettimg interestef in gyros. I thought somethimg us wrong here with this setup, but there are things that csn help reduce cyclic movement.

    Yup. Had to watch that a few times. My gawd. Just for fun watch his feet on the rudder pedals. It tells a lot about what he is doing. It is not what you would do in a fixed-wing and certainly not like anti-torque pedals on a helicopter. Gonna have to watch again.

    How is he filming this ? The camera must be on a long stork off the port front, and is obviously on a gimble, but I can’t see how it is attached to the machine.
