    Je ne me lasse pas de cette vidéo, j'y reviens d'ailleurs après avoir re-visionné le Hapkido Talk #1 dans lequel on demande aux nouveaux adeptes et novices si la découverte de l'Hapkido JJK par Maître Raphaël Couet a causé le même électrochoc qu'aux anciens : je dirais que cette vidéo illustre très bien comment et pourquoi la flamme est née à l'intérieur de moi 🔥
    J'ajouterais : OUI, même en tant que novice dans les arts martiaux, on trouve forcément le yeop tchagui de TKJN incroyable car nul besoin d'avoir matière à comparaison, les coups de pied de TKJN sont renversants DANS L'ABSOLU !!

    Aujourd'hui, revoir cette vidéo que j'ai découverte au tout début de ma pratique en septembre dernier, c'est, au-delà d'être toujours particulièrement impressionnant aussi très émouvant, notamment parce que je peux désormais reconnaître :
    - et nommer la plupart des techniques et coups de pied :)
    - les passionnés qui sont là depuis toujours auprès du Maître (Kevin, JF, Bruno, Jérémy, Fred et j'en oublie.)
    - la bande-son officielle de la démo pour avoir assisté à nombre de démos sur l'année qui vient de s'écouler et qui marque la première de mon aventure au sein de la famille Hapkido JJK
    Gratitude pour l'enseignement de la discipline et aussi pour cette chaîne et toutes les vidéos !

    Love Hapkido! Thanks for the vid. Many people don’t think traditional Hapkido is effective for self defense. But, I can personally attest that it is. People also used to tell me that high kicks don’t work. They do. I studied Hapkido in the late 80s through the early 90’s. When I moved away there were no schools in my area. So, while in college, we started a full contact kickboxing club. We had many members and from many disciplines. They elected me president of the club. Hapkido style kicks are very powerful and worked perfectly. I grew up boxing, as my father was a boxer. Hapkido kicks combined with boxing was a great combination for kickboxing. After I graduated, I moved again. The only schools in my area were TKD and jujitsu. So, I tried jujitsu. I just absorbed what they showed me for several months. Later, they knew that I was from a Hapkido background, and ask me what I would do in this situation or that, from a Hapkido prospective. They were open minded, not at first, ha! but eventually. They wanted to try anything that they felt could work, and were extremely interested in our Judo style take downs and throws. Previously, I hadn’t found much use for the Aikido style joint locks and such, but when rolling around on the mat, those techniques were extremely beneficial. Even the skeptics were convinced that there was something there that they could use. I was amazed, and they were too, at how I could so quickly grab someones wrist, leg, foot, etc., and manipulate it in such a manner, that it added an element to what I was being taught in jujitsu. I had no idea that these techniques could work so well from the ground, as I had never trained in that manner, but used in combination with what I had learned from them, the effectiveness of those techniques became painfully obvious. In conclusion, I don’t think that Hapkido is a complete martial art for MMA etc. in fact, no martial art is, at least that I have seen. But, combined with boxing and some ground techniques from BJJ or Traditional Jujitsu, it offers tremendous value.

      I had many of the same experiences with Hapkido. I trained for about 5 years in the late 90's into the early 2000's, and then began doing MMA. When I began I was one of the best strikers in the school and was able to modify my techniques from hapkido for the groundwork. Many of the joint locks (like the kimura) were very similar and I had already practiced from a standing position hundreds of times. My BJJ opponents would also find it difficult, if not impossible to gain wrist control on me from any position since i knew how to put pressure on the wrist and either pin them or just force them to release because of leverage.

    Nice vid. But some of those high and jump kicks are going to be harder to execute as you get older. The knee and groin kicks are great for any age. I would love to see a set of techniques that are usable as you get older and your body is more limited.

      You just have to keep stretching and practicing kick repetition as you get older but you’re still able! If you stop then it gets harder and you’re prone to injury.

      The early Hapkido masters were already past their prime age when they opened their gyms in Korea or abroad. Their trainees have already practiced other martial arts for several years or more, or they often questioned the master's skills. It was a belligerent environment. Masters were unable to make it a profession without proving their skills.
      High kicks, gorgeous kicks are not very necessary in practice. For example, in MMA competitions, many athletes never kick at all other than low kicks for check.

      Maybe you can mix that with other martial arts to find the most suitable technique depending on the situation. Some of the moves are very practical.

    Wow. it seems that Hapkido is basically Taekwondo/Tangsoodo with aiki jujutsu joint manipulation. Impressive.

      +Paul Daluz Sorta - Hapkido, like Aikido, is decended from Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu (Choi Yong-sool studied under Takeda Sōkaku like Ueshiba did). Also, Hapkido traditionally has no empty hand forms.
