I used to play bass guitar, but I have small hands and it was very difficult for me to play complex chords. However, I'm happy to see when another does it.
Yeah I struggle a bit sometimes, both with hand stretch but also arm stretch on the long scale 😆
It takes more technique for us small handed folk to play the bass. But you definitely can, there's 7 year old kids playing full scale basses. It's all about micro-sliding and adapting. Of course there will be things that are quite difficult compared to people with larger hands, but it's all doable! Don't give up!
