On the episode with the teams from the university had to replace Sheldon because he was being "too Sheldon" they are in the cafeteria and Raj suggest getting the girl who played Blossem to be in the Physicks Bowl. Fun Fact. Amy Farrah Fowler WAS Blossem when she was a teenager. The actress went on to become a neuroscience professor in real life which makes her the only TRUE scientist on that show. Isn't that wild?
Specifically, the episode was "The Bat Jar Conjecture" (Season 1, Episode 13) for anyone who wanted to look up that reaction XD It truly is an awesome celebrity paradox.
They also suggest getting the girl from Wonder Years and Raj later dates a girl played by Danica McKellar.

I read some other comments and I'm dismayed that people trying to be cute or funny have posted a few minor spoilers. 😣
The one trivia that isn't spoiler is what another person already said....Mayim Bialik (Amy) does indeed have a PhD in neuroscience. AND she was mentioned (not by name) back in season 1. Raj saying the girl from "Blossom" is really smart....that of course is Mayim.
Don't believe the writer/ creators planned it. But I would like to know who thought....."Hey! Remember our little Blossom is really smart joke?" "...Why don't we try to get her?" Good one!

Upon counting, the only months without an R are May, June, July and August meaning sheldon doesn't drink hot chocolate in the summer. That actually makes sense
I've been waiting for this reaction since last year! Amy is my second favorite character and yes she does start as robotic and a female version of Sheldon at first glance. She gets better thanks to best gal Penny. Zack is hilarious. He's my favorite of Penny's exes.

The most unbelievable part of this whole show, is that Sheldon would get a match on a dating site. Do you know how impossible getting a match on a dating site is?!
Yeah the show definitely got more better when Amy and Bernadette became a big part of it. And season 4 is definitely one of my favorite seasons and got one of my favorite episodes, which 1 in particular, I can't wait for you to see. I was waiting until you got to this season to wanna follow your patreon and now I might have too.

Every comment saying it gets better from here is true, Amy is amazing, and the writing and character development really does get better.

Yay! One of the episodes I’ve been waiting for you to get to! Loved your reaction to it! Love watching you react and share your thoughts on this show! I hadn’t considered the fact that you don’t have to wait several months for the next season like I did until you said something. However I always enjoyed binge watching previous seasons on DVD between seasons so it’s not like it bothered me having to wait at the time, but until you said something I had forgotten that I did originally watch this when it was seasonally broadcast (now I watch it via DVD since I own each season).
Amy Farrah Fowler is the best thing that ever happened to this show.

zack was the worst addition to this show imo. he’s up there with kripke and that indian girl raj was dating towards the end of the show

A bit annoying when they switched up and she wasn’t as weird which made it more believable she was with Howard. My favorite women characters on the show were Bernadette, Penny although she had her flaws especially with this episode where she used Leonard for sex but eh couldn’t. Priya, Sheldon’s mother, Leonard’s mother and Alex are the other great characters
Sheldon says he only drinks hot drinks in months with an R. The only months without an R are, May, June, July, and August. Which in America is the summer months, when drinking a hot drink is a bit odd. So Sheldon has a good point

Interesting that Eric says he sensed a repressed attraction from Amy in this first appearance, I didn't pick up on that. But it does seem to be supported when Amy later says at the wedding that she felt something from the very first time she met Sheldon.
It also matches up with my sense of Amy, which is that she repressed much of her sexuality due to her mother and her treatment from other kids, which didn't start coming out again until she'd been around the gang for a while. So while she comes off as a female Sheldon here and for much of the first half of Season 4, she loosens up and becomes more of her true self over time, while Sheldon is likely graysexual, so between that and his ego he just doesn't do sexual attraction. ROMANTIC attraction, on the other hand...
(Do I think the writers planned that? No. I think they just didn't know what to do with her character after awhile and kept making tweaks over time. But it helps me make sense of her many character shifts in-universe)
This episode makes me wish that Zach was a part of the permanent cast.🤣
I think he's better as a side character, if he was a part of the main cast the all dumb joke would get old pretty quick

Amy was widely hated by the audience when she first appeared, but fans QUICKLY came to love her. She is amazing. :)
Some people think they changed her character but like Barnette I feel like they both took off the mask they they had put up in public. Amy felt safer to be herself after this first date.

Nobody from their Generation was hating on Blossom. Maybe younger generations that didnt know who she was hated on her, but what would you expect,

A little about the actress playing Amy: Aside from her lead role on the sitcom "Blossom" as a kid (1991-1995), she was also best known for playing the kid version of Bette Midler's character in "Beaches". That blew my mind when I realized that, because with the curly red headed wig you would NOT know that was Mayim.
Honestly, Zack is much more suitable to be with Penny than Leonard.
Leonard deserves to be with Priya or Alex.

What he meant by it's a surprise party doesn't matter when we get there is that technically and typically the birthday person doesn't know there is a party so they arent expecting guest to be on time , flawed but plausible logic in my opinion lol

It is an interesting double standard that women can often expect sex and that is acceptable but a man can not. Worth exploring. it IS a double standard.
She didn't wait for him to say yes, she literally took his hand and lead him to her place.. that is not OK either
I mean... I think it's more because it's Leonard than that he was a guy. Leonard has always been so desperate for affection, and expressed to Penny just a few episodes ago that he slept with Dr. Plimpton mostly because she let him. Penny knows he's not picky and wouldn't be put out about it. It IS still kind of terrible on Penny's part, but you could argue that the writers were simply being true to Leonard's character, not trying to make a statement.
You're not discussing the fact that she was drunk and Leonard was completely sober , making the whole situation strange regardless.

Okay Amy wasn't hated. We all already knew her, we grew up with her just like we did with Leonard, Leslie and Sheldon's mom in Rosanne. We knew her as Blossom and she is a real my ego scientist. Everyone from the generation (genx) that the actors are from knew her automatically and loved seeing her back in the game.

I gotta say, while I don't love what Penny does to Leonard here (and to Zack in a way, since I'm not sure if they were officially dating when she did this), I do love that her time with the guys has made her appreciate intelligence more in the men she is with. She sees this as a bad thing, but I think it's a sign of greater self-respect and character development -- especially since a number of the guys she's been with were not just unintelligent, but real pieces of work. Even Zack is a bit of a step up from that, since he's basically a giant puppy.
True. Zach’s essentially a sweetheart apart from the intelligence thing. I’d rather him than the guy who took Leonard and Sheldon’s pants.
