- Here's my take on this tune by The Shadows. Not quite like Hank Marvin's version, but in the ball park.
GEAR USED:
Fender Stratocaster (1996)
Joyo American Sound Pedal
Garageband
Canon EOS M50 camera
Neewer 480 LED lights
Final Cut Pro
A day with a David Niles guitar video in your inbox is always a good day. Superlative stuff as always David.
Wow, thanks!
Oh man this is so awesome!! Love The Shadows!! Great playing as always my friend, really enjoyed it!!. 👍
Thanks - glad you liked it. When I learn a Shadows tune, I always much more respect for Hank Marvin, Britain's first guitar hero!
Very nice 👍
Thank you 👍
Hi David! perfect Marvin enunciation. We need more posts from you!!
Thanks!
Thanks John! My day job has been keeping me pretty busy these days. Hopefully summer will give me more time to make some videos!
@@anotherheadlessdemo That's fine. We all suffer the same limits. Doesn't the world understand our worth?🤪
That's right, I've tried to explain that to clients and family. Guitar playing comes first. They don't seem to be on board with that. LOL
Enjoyed hearing ! Great job !
Glad you enjoyed it!
As Always....... FANFREAKINTABULOUS
Thanks Marty!
The guitar sound is on point! Love it! Good job, David!
Thanks Zakhar!
Your videos are all great.
Thanks, much!
Wonderful job of shads atlantis rhanx Dave
Thank you! There are so many Shads tunes I love, but this one might be my favorite.
Great tone!
Thanks!
Your version seems to have a softer more mellow tone to it love it.
Yes. I had been watching one of the Shadows reunion shows and Marvin's tone is very different.
Bravooo!
Fabulous..👍
Thanks 🤗
I can see years of practice on the fretboard and it shows in the playing! Sounds just like Hank Marvin.
Thank you!
Nice job David, we approve!
Much appreciated!
So nice.
Thanks!
This is Fintastic and by the looks of it, your cat loves it as well.
LOL - I’ve been wondering if anyone has noticed my cat (and what she’s doing). The answer is yes! 😀
Smooth
Thank you!
The wood is just amazing. There are some flaws in the pickups, but this is authenticity. The instrument sounds and the idea of its unique voice remains in the head. David, as always, you are on top of the accuracy of the sound on the string.
I've wanted to ask you for a long time, what connecting cable do you use on your guitar?
Thanks, glad you liked the video! I use some Planet Waves cables, but my favorite is one made by a someone I used to play music with. It has a silent switch and still works after 15 years!
@@anotherheadlessdemo Try the 15 foot Monster, there are several kinds of them, but just try it - there is a step forward in the sound quality of the instruments.
I don't know how expensive they are for you there, but there is a real change for the better. 10 years ago, I myself wound wires based on technical silver in fluoroplastic insulation using a very complex technology.
I know what I'm talking about, and you can hear the difference. So, these Monster Cables have an improvement in sound. Although, of course, mine is still very, very far away.
I'll have to try one of these out. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@anotherheadlessdemo David, please take your cable with you, align the all-tube amp in the store to catch the transition to the lightest crunch from Clean mode, then turn the input level down a hair's breadth. And in this amplification mode, compare the wires. A high-quality wire turns the sound into crunch a little earlier, does it even at high notes and does not lose the low-frequency part of the range of guitar notes - the sound remains bassy, solid. This is a sign of good conductivity and signal phasing.
The final cable sample may be shorter than 15 feet without degrading the sound.
Nice tone! 😎
(And I'm not a big fan of Strat bridge pup sound. I'd rather use a Tele)
Thanks! I was trying to get close to Hank Marvin's tone, and of course he's always used Strats. I play out a lot, and rarely use a Strat . I usually use one of my Teles or Jazzmasters.
Well played. I would say though, your trem use is a bit too aggressive - try and use less movements - keep it subtle :)
I’ve never been accused of being a slave to an original, so there’s that! Just checked out your channel- nice playing, especially Surfing with the Aliens.
@@anotherheadlessdemo Haha... Thanks
Salut l'ami...
Savais pas que tu t'étais aussi mis à la guitare....😂
:)
