My favorite thing to do in this game was to set the Jukebox to play "The Mermen" tracks, jump into any TIME TRIAL... and just drive!! I'd never heard of THE MERMEN before, but the music fit the game perfectly in my opinion. Instrumental cruising music. I rarely ever follow the actual path. I usually veer off-course and drive until the bike blows up. It was one of the earliest memories I have of a game that let you drive anywhere. DRIVER was another that felt very free, but all the roads were perfectly flat with just a few bridges to jump, but this one had elevation changes. The game was buggy, but the freedom was unmatched. Even though the game didn't look that great in still images, it had a lot going on, streamed loaded as you played, had a lot of varied scenery and the view distance was incredible. It also provided some of the funniest wrecks in gaming. I take the bad with the good on this one. I love RR3D.

What a game, in 1998 I was 10 years old and I received £30 for my birthday that year, went straight to the shops with it to purchase this game all by myself, such a fond memory.

I've played all of its predecessors and, someone else stated, the 3DO/PS1/Saturn "Road Rash" is my overall favourite. But this looks decent and smooth to be fair. I have already played RR64 and that was (in my mind) a guilty pleasure along with Destruction Derby 64 (the suicide races are great!) as i found 64 to be pretty fun. Just not as "on point" as the 3DO iteration overall 👍
I enjoy this game, but still think the original on 3DO is the best and my overall favorite.
Great review thanks. I love Road Rash. I own all the PlayStation and mega drive games except for Road Rash 3 on Genesis but I plan on picking it up soon. I still enjoy playing these games today. Thanks for your review
