  • The months are passing by & this bike still needs a fair bit of work in readiness for it's epic adventure ride the full lenght of New Zealand in December 2021.
In this video we fit a new rear tyre to the rebuilt rear wheel, install a new chain & sprocket kit & even a new rear brake light switch...a few steps closet to getting this DR200 back on the road!
Holley will be back down in the Workshop in a couple of weeks & if all goes to plan we will be able to get all the remaining jobs done, make sure you turn on notifications so you don't miss any of those videos....
    Enjoy
    Andy

Great video Andy. I like that trick with the 3/8" extension while setting the chain tension. It is always satisfying when you get a load of work done on a project that has been sitting idle for a while. Cheers.

its funny how in the 80s the axle came out of the factory greased but not now. did you fit the rear brake upside down on on purpose ?

Hey Simon, that's really odd. I just checked some pics on Google & you are right. Rod/arm to the bottom. Every bike I have here all have them in the position I did in the video. I think it must be a modification Suzuki NZ do for the farmers here - less prone to damage if rod in high position.
Thanks for the heads up. Now we know! So to answer your question....erm....yes. of course it was intentional. Lol
      Cheers

l was taught that the chain tension should just touch the bottom of the swinging arm when pulled up, with the intended rider sat on the bike. Easier done with an assistant!

Hey you have links for parts? Specifically both front and rear brake parts, calliper, pads, brake shoe. Thanks

Is that the stock ratio for front and rear sprockets? Also, being a large lad, do you have any concerns with the stock suspension on your trip? Nice work as always.

Hi Mike, it is for the farm spec bike. I think the lower gearing will be fine on the trip as I'll be spending most of the time on gravel roads plus it'll help too with my size given it's only 200cc of raw power!
Rear shock may be an issue but I won't be carrying much gear as I'll have the support vehicle for that...which is a first!
I'm sure there will be problems along the way so I'll be taking a few tools & spares :-)
      Cheers for now
