I moved to a new area at work and became a source of curiosity when they realized I wasn't just bringing a few in, but will be bringing tins in every night. People would ask me if they're cheap, I just said they tasted good. They'd ask about the health benefits, I just said they tasted good. They asked what I liked about them, I just said they tasted good. I brought in a few extras to store in my locker and started offering them to people who kept asking questions. Now our table is the canned fish table and they're starting to dork out too. It's strange how people who don't have any connection to the deenosphere manage to become just as cultish about them. It's like there's some toxoplasmosis-like bug that infects people. Some are grossed out, and I always tell them I can respect it as long as they have had them before and that I don't count chicken of the sea or beach cliff. The damage that company has done to the deeniverse is depressing.
I am a carb man myself. Mince garlic and cucumber. Mix them in olive oil from fish tin with dash of salt. Smear this on a split french loaf. Top it off with a thin layer of king Oscar’s olive sardines and squeeze so it melds with the bread. It’s so simple it tastes good.
Match made in heaven. The double protein hit and the oil is such a hunger buster that lasts. Maybe a slice or 2 of sourdough to clean the plate and mop any remaining oil

I made this dish in the style of Japanese Oyakadon, first starting the eggs first and then topping them with the sardines and some green onions, all the while keeping liquid under the eggs to prevent from sticking. Served on jasmine rice with a dash of soy sauce. Delicious!
This works well with the cheap sardines packed in tomato sauce (either the tall round cans or flat oval cans) to make a sort of “Fisherman’s Shakshuka.”
Hell yeah. I just ate a ton of KOs in tomato sauce and they were pretty underwhelming, especially since I really enjoy the EVOO double layer KOs. I’ll be sure to have them with eggs next time! Thanks for the suggestion
Tossed in the eggs, added a tin of KO Mediterranean style sort of chopped up a bit, sprinkled egg/deen combo with black pepper and shredded parm...folded it into an omelet shape and it was delicious. Side note: Wife says if I ever do that again in her good pan, she will kill me and they will never find my rotting corpse. She seemed miffed.
