    Definitely agree 1681 is the best smelling of all four EDP. It actually lasts for quite a while and has an earthy base, is very masculine and it reminds me of the island we visited in 2023. The Carthusia Shop on Capri is a delight and the staff are so welcoming and believe in their product and are willing to share their knowledge with the visitor. Prices there are what you expect on the island so I waited to buy my 1681 online for a very good price, clearance in fact at 100ml. Expect it will last me a very long time. Your summing up of all fragrances is very helpful and I really like the slides telling me al the base notes of each type. Can't wait to revisit Capri again as this brand really sums it up!

    Hello Trina👋😊. Can you tell me if there is a difference in smell between essence of the park and essence of the park "profumo"? Or is it only the intensity.

    • @SCENTGOURMAND
      @SCENTGOURMAND  2 роки тому

      Hey Michael! So sorry, I haven't sniffed em' yet! In most cases perfumers have to amp up a base note to make the concoction last longer, and they often amplify another note. The overall effect is mostly just more intensity with often more longevity. Personally, I would always go for an EDP over and EDT even if I slightly prefer the EDP, and this comes down to performance. An exception for me would be something like BK540 - the EDP is way to expensive and not as good as the EDT. ;)

    Have you gotten your nose on Io Capri EDP? I have a small sample and it is absolutely divine. Curious how it compares to the EDT, as I've never smelled that one.

    Hello to the world's cutest self-declared 'hag' ;) I'm sooooo glad you drew attention to this house with a dedicated video. Firstly, it made total sense to me that Carthusia would have a successful retail presence in Tokyo as the character of their fragrances and the misty, gauzy quality of the construction would suit the Japanese cultural sensibility exceptionally well. Secondly, everybody should visit the Amalfi Coast just once in their lifetime. And thirdly, the most disappointing thing about living in England is that FOR ME, these herbal citrus 'fresh fragrances' just don't work for most of the year in terms of weather and culture here in the UK. Whenever I feel tempted to buy something in this fragrance genre when abroad on a summer holiday and in a mildly euphoric, celebratory state wanting to bring a little magic potion back to relive the atmosphere of the holiday, I just remind myself of what England is REALLY like. To wear a Carthusia fragrance on a blustery, icy cold grey day whilst swathed in heavy textiles, beanie on an icy noggin and gloves almost permanently sutured to my wrists, well, the proposition is almost comically cartoonish, it just doesn't work for me. Carthusia is sheer fabrics, tanned skin, bare arms, sunglasses, rowboats, pasta by the beach, pine needles on hot earth, the smell of suntan lotion...
    See, I THINK I'll be bringing a piece of my Italian holiday back with me to revive the spirit and relive it all in some esoteric way but...oh dear, what a laughable misjudgement ;D. I think knowing this all now makes me understand that I enjoy these types of fragrances IN SITU and they don't work for me in the climate I live in. Whenever I am privileged enough to sojourn somewhere gloriously warm and sunny the first thing I do is seek out the fragrances I don't wear at home and as eccentric as this may sound to some, it really does add a significant element of sensory joy to my experience of a foreign culture and climate. Carthusia when I'm in Capri always works PERFECTLY. If anybody is lucky enough to live in a country that is warm most of the year then Carthusia would be a wonderful house to explore. Thank you again for this video and I hope this week will treat you well! :) PS= Tiare flower and tropical coconut fragrances are another laugh-out-loud option for grey ol' England. Imagine wearing that fragrance whilst wearing a huge puffy parka and rain boots! HAHAHA!
    PS= Fresh herbal citrus fragrances in England make me think I'm wearing toilet cleaner and other items from the household cleaning aisle at the supermarket. Bad connotations.

      I'm originally from Montreal, so I hear you on the freshie-no-work situation! BUT, you can enjoy it indoors and imagine what is just out the door... Your comments cracked me up. Cheers for that! Do you enjoy oud-y type frags? THOSE rich, thick fragrances would do really well in old England and its former colony, Cannuckville. They smell much better in colder weather than in the Middle East! Sadly, not for everyone, and definitely very different from the likes of Carthusia! I have never been to Capri/the Almafi coast. Only in my dreams...

      @@SCENTGOURMAND Oh BIG YES to oud, but like most niche-fragrance lovers I'm enormously fussy about the type of oud and way it's blended. There are loads of notes I don't necessarily impose a full moratorium on, but I'm wary and would never blind buy if, say, patchouli, benzoin, grapefruit, cloves, tuberose, gardenia, honey, ambroxan etc were listed as key players in the game. Oh god, and calone! That nasty synthetic candy-fruit melange too. Blurgh. There are of course more notes but they escape me now (perhaps the olfactory trauma has been mercifully buried and thus, details are not available from the memory vaults, aha! ;).)
      Here'a a great idea for a video and I'd love to listen to your stories; question; Which notes are YOUR 'danger zone' notes? Are there any fragrances which you adore that feature them prominently and have managed to both stun and delight you when you made this discovery? I don't think anybody has made a video about this. Just goes to show how you can't always trust a note list on paper-- you really need to throw the net wide and give everything a try. My own example is 'Sir Gallahad' by Isabey. Love at first sniff. My jaw hung open slightly when I visited the brand website and was confronted by my dreaded gardenia note: not just in the top notes, but in the HEART of the fragrance!! I couldn't believe it, a double dose of my 'danger note' and I LOVED IT! I wonder which fragrances rewarded YOUR open-mindedness in this way? Love your channel by the way! :D

      @@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 You crack me up yet again! I feel about patchouli as you feel about oud. Depends on the fragrance. I also have a problem with some aquatic notes (calone? the "watermelon ketone" - an insult to watermelon!). I'm going to talk about that when I review Arizona from Proenza S. soon.... Not sure about a whole video as I try to be verbal about stuff I don't like in every video, if appropriate. But true, most of the perfume I have is stuff I bought - most of what I bought is stuff I like... so there is little I publicly spit on. ;) I'll have to reflect on a note I dislike that surprised me... Off the top of my head, it would be oud. The first one I smelled was too strong and skanky, but since then I've learned how magical it can be - depending on sooo many factors, of course.

      @@SCENTGOURMAND Oh your 'shocking revelations' video will be EPIC, I look forward to it! :D Another note I THOUGHT I hated for my entire adolescence was rose because the rose commonly used in fragrances during the 1980s and 1990s was that 'grannies pot pourri' in a basket on the window ledge in the guest pooper. Or that dessicated, 'gift shop dried rose buds in a bag' smell. I thought all rose-forward fragrances would smell like that. Then I discovered Rose d'Arabie. A video about the fragrances that 'converted' you on a dreaded note prejudice/wariness would be terrific. Why has nobody done a video like this?! I'd be so there for it. Juicy!! ;D

    Via Camerelle was edt or edp version ?

    • @SCENTGOURMAND

      EDT. The EDPs come in different bottles, I believe. Does Via Camerelle even come in EDP? Will have to check the website...

      @@SCENTGOURMAND yep, it comes in edt, edp and perfume version

    • @SCENTGOURMAND
      @SCENTGOURMAND  2 роки тому +1

      @@marauderqwerty Oh, it could be the most concentrated perfume version that comes in the different bottle, then. That makes more sense.... Just checked the two remaining I have in my collection - same bottle, but one is EDT and one is EDP. So the Via Camerelle which I no longer have (gifted) could have been an EDP after all!
