Well well, just checked the US 🇺🇸 App and there is NO INCREASE (atleast today). This is interesting 🧐 Why have sales associates given confirmed numbers? Still, over $10k USD for a medium is bonkers. Perhaps the increase is for another day? Watching and waiting!
I already tapped out of Chanel. I’m glad I have the 9 Chanel bags that I bought wayyyyyy cheaper than these ridiculous prices. They are definitely not worth these prices. 😂

@@4theloveofbags900 oh yeah, I think for a while now, the resale market hasn’t commanded the same profits as it did during lockdowns. The prices are just too high. Maybe those who bought 3-4 years before can sell for a decent markup while still being at an attractive price point to buyers.

Chanel sales have reportedly slowed down in the U.S. I would think this price increase would slow down sales even more. I wasn’t even really into the classic flaps. The price increases kind of influenced me and I ended up buying a medium classic flap when it was $6800 USD. I also wonder who buys the classic flaps. Because I don’t really see celebrities photographed with classic flaps. Birkins, yes. But not Chanel classic flaps.
Excellent observation -I don’t really see celebs with classic flaps, either. Maybe seasonal bags, but that’s it.
Yeah, stores are not nearly as busy. They’ve definitely reduced the number of sales and hence, number of clients, in their stores. But still making money due to increases and push to other smaller items. Let’s see!
However, to get the Birkin, you have to bow down to them as if they are God just to buy a bag. I will not jump through hoops just to buy a bag from anyone. They are just as bad as Chanel. I would prefer to buy the Chanel just because Hollywood celebrities aren't wearing it. I find most celebrities to be gross anyway. It's one set of people I don't respect. I am sorry.
Thanks for the update. I'm not looking to buy any of these bags anytime soon but great information for someone who was seriously considering buying one soon. They may look into getting it before the price increase. It looks like the prices have doubled over the past 4 years or so, ridiculous! Despite all these price increases the only bag I may ever consider buying from Chanel mentioned from these is the mini rectangle or mini reissue but no plans to do that this year. I think if someone loves the brand or really wants one of these Chanel bags, they will find a way to get it even if it means cutting spending on other things. Thanks for sharing Xx

I’m so happy I bought all my bags during COVID and am totally priced out of the market. My last Chanel bag was the mini 22. There’s just no justification to buy more bags anymore. It’s just gotten completely incomprehensible

It really is! Typically these wouldn’t affect seasonal styles. But I haven’t heard anything for coco handles and trendys- I think those got hit last time.

Hi ! It could be even worse for Canadian because of the weakeness of your money against the USD. If you simply convert the futur US prices the percentages (and so the prices) might be even higher ... you know that Chanel likes nothing more than price harmonization except maybe price increase 😅

Chanel’s pricing since 2020 is out of control. And sadly, other brands like YSL & Dior have also increased their prices as well. I think overall, people will start to steer away from luxury accessories. Let’s see!
I am glad I have all the Chanel bags I need. I bought most of mine during Covid time. I would never buy at today's prices. It is an insult to our money even if we can afford them. When I go to Saks, I have avoided walking into Chanel for over a year (just done with them!). I have no idea what they are doing. You are correct that the younger generation is not going to want to buy these bags as well. They are more into experiences and vacations than luxury goods (this is how my daughter feels anyway)!

I personally stopped buying Chanel several price increases ago. Probably 2019. However, someone must still be buying otherwise the price increases wouldn’t still be happening. Prices stabilize when supply and demand are equal. So either they are holding supply back to create scarcity or someone is buying.
There are definitely people buying. Albeit, less. Less clients in the stores, but each one buying in the place of two or three. But it looks as though most clients are buying seasonal bags, SLGs, shoes and accessories. Perhaps Chanel wants to segregate groups of clients - A larger group “Aspirational” clients who will buy small (yet pricey) accessories and shoes and a smaller group who will buy clothing and jewellery. They are the ones calling the shots and making billions. I guess they’re onto something. Who knows!

So these were figures given from a few sales associates in the US. I usually wait to see if they actually happen, which the likely do. I am surprised myself that they would spread this fake news - a lot of other people also reported this on Social Media. Let's see, maybe it's yet to happen. But, the prices are already so ludicrous, all I can do is laugh.

I know - I think they don’t want to give in to using Hermes’s scarcity strategy. Chanel is just bumping prices. Not quite sure what their end goal is!
But that’s the thing…you can’t just buy Hermes. You have to take into account the thousands in pre-spend and maybe not get offered a bag even then.
No, for double this prices you can buy Hermes as prespend is required, after begging for a bag and waiting for a long time.

This results in more people competing, more spending on unnecessary bait items, etc, and people having to jump through more hoops to get a bag.
@@nandiaconstantinou8181 depends on the SA and what the location receives as well. It’s not always a crazy pre-spend. Also, the quality is not comparable. Chanel has been going downhill for a while now.

On another note, I would think the boy would become popular as it hasn’t increased like crazy and also in the resell market they are priced way below retail. Shocks me, they are not the it bag again. I was priced out CFs in 2022. They only got me with the travel flap lol. I want another 19, 2 CFs: green & blue. But I’ll see how the resell market does. As I’ve noticed the moment they increase, all these old bags get priced the same or close to the new price 🙄

@@sw33tfr0styy oh that’s a good question. I don’t remember specifically, but typically they’d happen around the cruise launch. Then they can have currency adjustments in the new year. Definitely one before the spring collection.
Channel and other luxury brands are supposed to be exclusive. They’re just continuing that old age model. They don’t want their products to trend or be accessible. If you aren’t extremely rich, unfortunately (and systematically) they aren’t for you.
You are 100% correct! But even those who can easily afford these bags are looking at these prices in shock, mainly 'cause they bought the same bags, better quality, years prior for a lot less. Chanel has also produced teeny tiny cardholders on chains as toy bags with an "affordable" price point to attract aspirational clients.
What they are doing though, is reducing the number of clients in their store while profiting the same. It'll be interesting to see where all this ends up.

@@therealshakeen this is true and it's all about getting things on sale now if it's possible. 20 to 40% off will reduce the prices to fairer standard. Consumers have power to affect sales and tell the brands to reign in their increases by affecting their profits.

I guess there will be some gen z-ers who inherit these bags from Gen X, some gen z-ers who will actually make a lot of money and buy new from boutique, some gen z-ers who won't ever afford and will opt for super fakes, and some gen z-ers who will just not be bothered by luxury.
I'm priced out of Chanel. I'm not a big Chanel bag person, I prefer Hermes bags. The only bag I've ever wanted is the small 255, black, PHW because of the history of the bag. I prefer to buy from the boutique but even if I ignore all the bad leather controversy I haven't been able to get one from the boutique! Poor customer service, poor leather, crazy prices....I'm out.
Ugh I’m sorry you haven’t had a good in store experience! You’d probably be better off purchased pre-owned. The resale price of reissues is lower than classics. Plus, you’d probably get an older bag from when the leather was good. I love the reissue. I have the maxi size and mini and enjoy them.
