  • After spending $382 for Tacatacam 5.0 with Film Through Scope (FTS) mount I was dissatisfied with the image clarity so four months later spent an additional $620 to buy TriggerCam 2.1. Is it worth the extra money? Should you spend once, cry once? Or is Tactacam a better option for the money?
    Lets deep dive into setup, operation, and video quality and find out.

    I would love to see a similar comparison between the Triggercam and the Scopemate S18 cam.
    They are more alike in design, and the S18 Scopemate's price point is 1/2 of the Triggercam.

      Thank you for the suggestion. I had never heard of ScopeMate before. I looked it up and I'll put it on the list of things to buy with an extra $350 just to check it out someday. Stay tuned for a future video.

    Thanks. Id watched video about 8 months ago and that dude said the Tacticam was best. Clearly TriggerCam is easier to set up/He was talking about ease of the film editing also.Im more interested in just reviewing my long range shots of my partners and myself.So all in all what do you think? Ive watched my friend rotate the Trigger Cam around while shooting to adjust his scope power. You did a great Job Reviewing and Comparing these two.Thanks.Im a new subscriber now.Much appreciated

      Hey Tex, thanks for the interaction, truly appreciated.
      I would say for "most" people TriggerCam probably wins. In your friends instance, maybe being able to move the TactaCam and then rotate it in the housing may have worked better. But for almost all my scopes I have found the short body of TriggerCam does not interfere. The biggest thing for me is having to take the camera in and off to adjust the scope image.

      Hello
      I shall be using mine for moving game, pigs/pheasant/deer.
      As for comparison,I suppose the image quality of each.
      I realise they are a completely different , I would be interested in the “Play Back” functions of the software, maybe the “zoom in “ after you get home and start your editing, how easy it is from each device to get the most out of the few seconds/minutes of recording you had.
      Also low light levels, I’m guessing trigger cam will function clearer as will use the rifles scope light input.?
      You can have both devices mounted simultaneously on the same rifle and have an outing?
      I haven’t yet found a video of ShotKam /Trigger Cam.

    Trigger cam has the better photo and video quality but a crappy battery system!
    I.E. it is built in and doesn't last long.
    TactaCam 5.0 has poor photo and video, but has a, interchangable battery system.
    Sytong does a day/night system with 18650 batteries and the picture ability isn't too bad, but not great!
    The Sytong sadly needs a lot of focusing and that is a pain.
    Triggercam is better, but their battery needs to be 18650 at least.

      Thanks for the comment. Agree with all lol. I had to Google Sytong. I see thermal and night vision scopes, am I missing a camera or are you referring to the scopes?

    • @richardt.4224
      @richardt.4224 5 днів тому

      My Sytong is the HT-77 which is a clip on the back of a scope kind and is an IR Day & Night unit.
      Apart from all the focusing needed, it's a good piece of kit, plus it has a really good range finder built in.
      Earlier I did have a thermal scope but the setting up was way over this mans head, I'm 70 and a bit of a technophobe!

    • @TheProcrastinatingPrepper
      @TheProcrastinatingPrepper  10 місяців тому +1

      Indeed over priced. Small market though with not a lot of competition. One thing I did not specifically mention in the video that may come into play for you depending if you dial or hold is that the more magnification you use, the less reticle the camera will capture. Anything over or around 8 to 10 mills of elevation hold may not be captured by the cameras.

    has anyone had the same experience as i have that when you are at your last 5 to 10 minutes of shooting light the tactacam 5.0 does not give me a actual video just a black video when camera is mounted without using a FTS unit Does using a FTS allow you to record right up to last schooling light as I am able to view through my scope right up to last shooting light

      When the camera is connected to your phone with the built in WiFi you can view the videos on the TriggerCam app, but it doesn't save them to your phone. I don't know iPhone well enough to know if there is a better way, but from your computer you can transfer from the mini SD card to iCloud.

    How does this compare to recording with a digital scope like the ATN? It isn’t much more than these camera systems.

    • @TheProcrastinatingPrepper
      @TheProcrastinatingPrepper  9 місяців тому

      I have only briefly played with an ATN X-sight (I believe). The main difference I can think of is with these add on cameras you are recording exactly what the scope sees (minus reticle from zooming in). The reticle you record is as you see it. The ATN did not record the reticle the same and the video playback was not quite the same. Had a dot or different reticle than what is viewed through the scope. The other difference is when you zoom in through a scope, the camera is still recording at the same zoom rate, not adding digital zoom where the ATN or similar are adding in digital zoom so the more you zoom the less image clarity.
      Next time I have and extra $750 to $1,500 I'll have to look into buying a thermal and doing another comparison. Great video idea!

    how would it work on a spotting scoop

    • @TheProcrastinatingPrepper
      @TheProcrastinatingPrepper  7 місяців тому

      Several answers to this question, but mostly not well. These are both really expensive cameras to use as a spotting scope camera, but I guess if you only wanted to by one camera and use it for multiple purposes then yes. For a spotting scope I would recommend the Longshot Target Camera system, or even their spotting scope camera. A less expensive option would be the SME SpotShot. Both the eyepieces on these cameras are smaller than most of the spotting scopes I have and they would only fit on small spotting scopes like the Vortex Viper HD 11-30.
