I have motion graphics content coming next week among other things, so enjoy the weekend everyone :) Check out my channel homepage for more great and useful content like this video.
Make a video on creating 100% vector textures in adobe illustrator, because the ideal method cause raster effects. There are so many paper and other textures on stock sites. There is no such detailed video on UA-cam, as a beginner i am really finding it difficult to achieve that realism with vectors.
I can take a guess. Perhaps it has nothing to do with the tutorial, it's the fact that it's an Adobe product. Which a lot of people find is way overprice, and hate the software for it. The title does sound like one of those cheesy Facebook clickbait titles though. May have something to do with it.
Regarding your last tip: The ruler and measure tool will only show you a 1:1 monitor to image pixel ratio. Whether or not it will actually display at 100% on your monitor depends on the DPI scaling of your physical monitor. For example, with my current equipment, at 100% (actual size), my 1cm actually equals 9mm when I hold my ruler up to the screen. I believe Illustrator calculates 1 pixel at 1/72", so if you have a giant iMac monitor that runs at 109ppi instead of the standard 72ppi, you might need to scale the zoom up to about 150% to see the true measurement on screen.
actually it's something that has bugged me for years. adobe is a big company and researching the DPI of every mac and a lot of windows machines isn't that hard. The only reason I guess they never did make perfect 100% rulers is probably the fact that most people don't use it. And a random 100+ percent for real size it is.
The recolour artwork option is incredible, I used to rely on global swatch before but don't have to anymore because this is so much better. You can change the colours manually, or lock them in the colour palette and move around, change all the same colour at once like global swatch, but the good thing is, it only works on your selection. So you could leave out some objects if you don't want to change their colour. Or copy and create the same design with different colours in seconds. Works on gradients too. There's also small details like interchanging colours between different objects. Once you get to know it, chances are high you'll fall in love with it
*I'm pretty sure this guy already took the Adobe Certification...* If not, then he should. Or, I wouldn't be surprised if he is actually an Adobe developer -_- I only know 1 out of 5 tips you mentioned. It kind of a shame to claim my self as a graphic designer XD
The type settings do not carry over to your next new project. You would have to do this every single time you start a new project which is pretty unrealistic. Misleading tip IMO
OMG the width tool 😶 how did i not know that. I had a project recently where i had to draw a LOT of shading on a character's hair, and i work with keyboard and mouse. I drew all those shapes with the pen tool, or copy pasting and editing.
I have to agree. I would love to learn more tips for optimizing illustrations. Satori makes some of the most professional Illustrator tutorials. I am somewhat spoiled because I begin to expect the same quality from all the tutorials on UA-cam, and it's usually not the case.
About that zoom tip at last, when I'm designing something for A4 size printing that involves text I always zoom to 134 or 135% because that is actually really close to the real A4 size and gives me the idea how bigger and smaller the font should be.
PLEASE HELP!!! I can`t draw = because im open pencil tool as usual, then trying draw and he (AI) erases existing shapes like eraser tools Im try new document without any shapes in it, and they play sound like - "action could not be completed" and cursor with "prevent circle" icon. Restarting program do not help :(((( !!!!Please help!!!!!!!
how can I tell my illustrator, that e.g. if I am working an A4-sheet and put the view to 100% scale on my screen, I want to be the view a real-size of an A4-sheet. (my screen is higher than a real A4-sheet, so I measured and found out, that I have to put the view on 98,2% to have it real-size. Can I tell the software, that these 98,2% should be my 100%?
About your last tip.... Different screens with different pixel density will give you different 100% scale. My work monitor is 21.5" 1080p (don't panic please) and produces accurate scales at 130% may be (I can't recall accurately at this moment). One can simply put an actual scale on the screen and match the ruler scales of the Illustrator to that while adjusting the scale value manually. You can find the scale ratio accurately that way and for that specific display, it will be OK for eternity.
illustrator is shit and a lot of bugs, like minor bugs that can disrupt the flow of your work, i wonder why this app exist, they should just have integrated everything inn Photoshop, if not for the clients using MAC i wouldn't use this shitty software. Also, basic dimensioning tool are not present, I have to purchase this god damn $150 CADtool for a basic dimensioning tools, a freelance designer can't even start at that point. Greedy mofos. And, ADOBE clouds sucks. I hope adobe goes bankrupt.
I didn't know all of the tips cause I'm newbie in Illustrator but I knew the tip no.4 (recolor) from before. Nobody teach me that, I just found that option by myself :v
Default Font setting only works on the document I made the change to. How to change default font selection that is permanent until changed again in Character Styles box?
I really don't want to be that guy; but all of these where kinda basic. The last tip i also hated; you should hardly ever use your screen as a 1:1 tool. I also find it strange how you explain some things only with shortcuts; but than; when there is an obvious button on the toolbar; you take the time to go through all the menu's. That should be the number 1 tip in all these programs; the fastest way to get to the right tools; not using the menu's if not necessary. Still i'm sure this is a helpful video; but more for beginners :)
My computer froze I can no longer use illustrator so I grabbed a iPad not realizing that illustrator isn't on the iPad yet so I moved on to Infinity designer I would love some tip for an Infiniti I wanted Adobe Illustrator again but I don't want to pay every month.
Not sure if I'm just stupid, but the default character style only stays in one document. Is there anyway to make it a permanent change for all new illustrator files?
Tip #2 only works if you don't shut down the application. Close it and reopen it and you'll see. The settings you've just made hasn't applied 'cos it's still Myriad Pro as default.
Hello Satori thnx for your video , i like so much its so easy to understand but can you show a video about preferences , how te fix the problem of anchor point and to merge the line to move precisely , thnx 🙏
Great info thanks! Any thoughts on how to accurately size text to specific dimensions? Using the font size in the character tab is NOT accurate. To get actual 4" tall text I need to set it to 5.574". drawing a box and then dragging the text sizing handles to match is a nuisance.

thanks for clarifying that
Yes, I have to scale to approx 134-135% for 1:1 scale. I've used that tip for years, but the scale has changed based on monitor resolution.
