That's the dumbest logic I've ever heard. He seemed fine so we left. That's a fail on the rescue attempt. No accountability

Searching for a guy, finds him.
“Nope, he looks fine, let’s head home.”

Blame the lost hiker for not knowing the right way to signal for help or change the clothing that he was last seen wearing to more colorful clothing. Got it. Edit: sometimes lost people are injured, and waving may be impossible, or cannot walk.

I wondered what their method was about, to make the call it was a hi and risk the chance of injury, exhaustion, or even a concussion causing fog. The descriptions may not stay the same to look for. I think most would use both arms, but not if in pain or extreme weakness. I lived in this county for 6-7 years. Like any place, don't want to get lost out there, or not have survival items with. He was found before too late, thankfully.

Ambulatory person in no distress, casually waiving. The purpose of this news piece is to share safety tips as lessons learned. And the news clip is correct. You have offered no solutions, just complaint.

So you mean to tell me they couldn't have landed and approached the guy to see if it was him? Maybe being so dehydrated he couldn't lift both arms. You're looking for a guy in that specific area, find one, welp he waved one arm so he's good let's go🤦🏾‍♀️?? I feel bad for a person that falls and breaks an arm and a this helicopter rescue team comes for them.

I hope these types of individuals are billed for the rescue and not the public taxpayers.

Carry three small items. Signal mirror, whistle, strobe light or flashlight with flash and SOS function.

He's like, Gee I'm sorry I didn't wave right and to your specifications..........ridiculous.

Likely a reason he got lost as not knowing anything. Just one had waving is common a saying hi. You use both hands waving to get attention to need help.

Maybe the guy didn't have the energy to match the enthusiasm and charisma the pilot expected. What if you have an injury and can't do that. If you're laying on the ground unconscious does that not qualify either?

This shit ain't funny. You ever go for a walk in a huge park or hiking trail and it get dark in you. You hear howls and the realize you being followed by cuyotes or some shit you don't know. Happened to me 2weeks ago. Hurt my damn leg trying to speed walk too fast being over an hour and 30 mins away from my car😅😱. Yeah that guy was food dehydrated and lost.😑

Sound like they was trying to hurry up and get back to the football game or something. It would have cost nothing to make sure.

Allow Mother Nature do its best natural selection. It's cheaper. As for the pilot, too much coke???

If you are a hunter and you require for 2 Choppers to go rescue you, you shouldn't be hunting in the first place.

It should be a non-brainer to study how to properly signal to airborne rescuer before going on hiking...
