Thank you for inviting me out to help run the LED volume, it was great getting to meet you and the team. I'm so excited to see the rest of the footage from that day!
There is a lot here, and what you have accomplished in the span of a week is more than a lot of productions would in a month, which is to say, very impressive. A few points of constructive criticism: - the color grading on the dancer in part 1 is off (such as at 1:35) and I don't know if it is intentional or a byproduct of the "haze" effect, but the skin colors are merging with the colors of the wood in the background, which is made apparent by the fact that you don't have that issue with your bts camera. There is an orange hue to everything. - The night shots with the car were amazing, as were the drone shots, but I don't know if you considered that you could combine them both and shoot a test car chase scene - On the drone shots, most professional shots wouldn't go full roller coaster, they'd use the it for wide establishing shots that with a drone slowly moving onto a subject or location. My favorite shot was in fact the overhead shot of the Mazda at 15:19. Looked like something out of a Mission Impossible movie! Very clean shot. The drone operator knows his stuff. - The Bolt was very ambitious project to do with limited time. That said, the short didn't really have the feel of stop motion, and I can only assume that you tried to get the Sonic sound effects (especially losing the rings at the end) but there were copyright issues. But otherwise a really cool idea to think and execute on in such a short period of time. Your access to competent professionals and equipment, and the ability to call on them on short notice will make any filmmaker jealous. There are indie movies that dream of having these resources. That plus this is probably the best showcase of Irix lenses I have ever seen. I hope you get sponsored. All in all, very well done. Subscribed.
got the komodo X for the motocrane system I have, really worth it. gives us the 6k 50 & 60 fps that we actually need. the added long antenna for camera control is a bonus too, the komodo didn't connect well with it's stock antenna at 5 m away. the KX does connect with 10 m easily.
Hi Brandon - What ND system do you use with your REDs? I just got the Komodo X and as I'm on EF lenses, I'm using the Kippertie Revolver as I like having clear and various strength NDs without removing anything, but it means I have to use their RISA riser to make my DSMC3 monitor clear the top of the Revolva. It makes everything really tall. Would love to know what you're using. Thanks in advance.
Sick camera. Well done pulling off an ambitious review like this in three days 🤯 only criticism is that gimbal work is woeful, doesn’t matter what it’s shot on if it’s shaky af
Great stuff Brandon. Not gonna lie. At first when it cut to the dancer footage I wasn’t super tuned in and thought it was a professional ad popping up. 😂
this video is amazing. this camera is sick awesome job man! not sure if it's YT or what but i hear a good bit of popping crackle in your voiceover track.
Thanks for making this video! HYPE LEVELS ARE CRITICAL!! Just visted my local VP video wall studio… was that Tanner that helpped you with the tracking?? I recognized the mustache 😂 Anyway, Questions: I got em:: 1. I noticed your cell phone AF test the picture got really skippitty dippitty, is that why I saw you later used a bigger antennae in your OG V KX video? Did it improve performance? 2. I noticed you mounted the XLR adapter directly in front of the vent… Did you notice the camera getting haughter?
What a great video! I Appreciate the time and effort you took to make this one. Placed my order last week. Btw, did you get a chance to mess with the custom buttons? Would be cool if it can toggle between Continuous AF and Single Focus
Tip top work bruv. You and the team KILLED IT! I’m a newbie with Red. The X is my first and I’m stoked. It’s awesome. I’m definitely going to check out the guide :)
This one of the best video I have ever watched on UA-cam and definitely your best video. From the information to the tone of voice to the arraignment and the conclusion of this video was just on point. Bravo Brandon and well done. Please more of videos like this. Please can you make your Komodo X camera guide available on this cannel for all of us? Cheers.
Seems like a great camera but that RF mount makes it a lot less appealing to me. given that it looks like we're only getting 1st party Canon glass on that thing going forward. I'm concerned about how limiting that could be.
Definity you put a great effort and the video is awesome. I like to see dynamic range comparisons with Raptor and old Komodo with some highlight recovery and lifting shadows in post.
I have been watching you for a few years now and this is, by far, your best video. Maybe it was that I just took delivery of my Komodo-X today and being new to the Red family the content was timely. Maybe. I think this was just an epic week long journey that touched on every aspect of filmmaking. Thank you Brandon for your time and experience in showing me what my camera can do in the hands of an experienced filmmaker. Now, where can I learn how to fly FPV???
I'd like to see a compare with the C70 as well. I think the footage got stronger with the RF lenses. Those IRIX cines didn't help the production. Sorry. A beautiful dancer in a clutch location with great light in slomo.... ? I think if the same shots were taken with the RF lens you would have had a better result and use of your time? I dunno?
I need more gigs to justify a red purchase lol. My Ursa G1 is too big, heavy and clunky for most shoots I’m on. Should I just trade it in and contribute the capital to a Red/smaller camera? Can’t even use a ronin with mine lol
I have been waiting for this review, but that Bolt thing was sad and downright depressing. What a waste of millions of dollars worth of tech. Unfortinately kids these days dont think about moral s they just film everything chase the money. All you had to do was test this vs Komodo or Vs your other cams, thats what we wanted to see. Ill stick around for next weeks video about how you are a Nikon man now, or a Canon guy, or what flavor of the week youtube tells you to be.
@@joshkiddfilms1295 Im not jealous dude, I shoot/own REDs since before brandown was out of gradeschool, and rent extremely high end lenses and lights. Its super sad to see the "youth" today ripping off bad 80s cinematography with "haze" and then yeah you use $250k robots to shill an energy drink? And the result is terrible. So yeah I am not jealous of this dude at all, about anything. If RED gave this wannabe "influencer" the camera for a week.. yet he didnt compare it to the other reds. He literally just shot stuff and said 'yeah the camera can be used to film things. You think???? Like I said ill check back in a couple weeks ot see him talking about how great the next Canon 8k camera is, or Nikon, Or panasonic, over Red. So he can "level up."
@@John-e4p1x what’s your issue with haze? Pretty common these days for guys to use haze on different projects across many genres. And he just put out a Komodo vs. Komodo x video. Probably compared it to the raptor for a future video too I suspect. I understand not caring much for the UA-cam culture and these partner relationships with camera companies but If you are as experienced as you say you are, you know how much work putting together all of this stuff for this video was, yet it feels more like you are trying to personally attack him…which I don’t really understand. Most of the review videos i see are people getting footage of their cats. 🤷🏻♂️
Now this is a Komodo X review! First filmmaker that really used autofocus! I appreciate you!
Thank you for inviting me out to help run the LED volume, it was great getting to meet you and the team. I'm so excited to see the rest of the footage from that day!
Best Komodo X review on the internet. Period!
Best wide angle zoom lens for the KX?

Parts of it were already part of the Komodo-X Livestream from RED some time ago 😊
Fire video bro.
This was a really great video. Very well made.
Crazy review. Changes everything I had in mind.
What is your opinion of the Red vND as well as the PL mount it comes with? Also, what PL to RF mount would you recommend?
Man the fpv drop down shots had me at the border of my seat, best Komodo X review I've seen so far, great job Brandon!

Phenomenal 10 out of 10 video, I believe you nail the entire 23 minutes, hopefully I will have a RED in my areal in the near future.

Wish to see an comparison with fx6

Outstanding! Bravo!
Great video! How did you like the Irix lenses? I have been looking at the DZO Vespid primes.
Fantastic job brother! Wow! YOU JUST LEVELED UP FILMMAKING UA-cam! Well done man.
This was a great video. I haven't watched a camera review video from start to finish for a while now. This keep me engaged af

Amazing showcase, props to you and your team 👊🏾🎉

Amazing work! You make high-quality camera reviews. Curious: I bet Sony still is ahead; but, how's the low light vs. C70 for the Komodo X?
Dude, you're hard work is paying off. You did a super job on this production!
can you do a video on the red control app cuz i don't understand if its an app on an ipad or just a software you can download and use.
So kool. Rock on brother! 🎉😎

I have no idea how you pulled this off. You really did killer job.
thanks. watched the whole thing, cant afford it
Well done Brandon and team. Great stuff.
Did you use a mist filter on some of the shots?
No we used haze
Awesome content, Brandon! Thanks so much for your hard work and dedication))
Excellent demo man. I had no idea about the auto focus feature. Makes me want to hit the "Buy" button right now!

Awesome man, I’m getting ready to come back to UA-cam maybe we can collab soon, also Reece is cool shot a wedding with him last year.
