Dude there's this band I've been wanting you to react to for quite a while. The name of the band is Coldrain They are a Japanese rock band but all their songs are in english they're my favorite band of all time, the song. I recommend you react to is called MAYDAY
I think it shows how important your work is - Noah mentioned how singing wasn't his natural disposition, when he was starting he played guitar. But as the need arose he learned to sing and then kept mastering the skill to what we have today. I'm sure he will show us new approaches to his voice in the future, he loves to experiment.
I don’t know what it is but in a lot of bad omens songs, Noah “sighs” or vocal breaks out of words a lot. Vessel in sleep token does it too. And I’ve found that’s really helped me personally reach higher notes and blend mixed voice as it locks me into some sort of “sense” of relaxation. I can’t really explain it but there’s definitely something to it
This track is powerful. I love the hook. The light reverb and full voice sounds Noah uses are fire, and the way he plays the notes forward and backwards in his mouth then projects them rounded and open mouthed forward at the listener is so cool.
I also find myself coming back to this more than any other Bad Omens song. Such a catchy song, and I love the breakdown. Thanks for covering this, I hadn't noticed the nuance of which words he is more forward on, but that makes a ton of sense.
I was watching a 2020 Bad Omens show and the evolution of the band and Noah's voice is clear. Wonderful songs resulting from talent and a lot of dedication. Thank you very much Chris for this fantastic analysis.
This is unrelated, but I wanted to say THANK YOU CHRIS. I participated on our schools duet competition where we competed against different schools on our city. My duet partner is my classmate who is very good at singing, and I was kinda ok at it. We decided to sign up because why not. Well, let me tell myself... It was stressful. I am not gonna lie, I was STRUGGLING. Seriously. I could never reach the high notes of the songs we choose. It even came to the point where we needed to switch songs 4 times. Every song we found was too hard. I lost hope but was not gonna give up. And then, I found your channel. I watched probably 10 of your videos. All of them helped me SO MUCH. I kinda don't understand how you just post this gold on youtube for free. This type of content is absolute quality. Because of your videos, we ranked 2nd place today. Words cannot describe how thankful I am (genuinely). You deserve a lot more subscribers and views. God bless you bro.
Id love to hear your analysis on Bad Omens song Kingdom of Cards. Noah definitely used other vocal methods then. First time i heard it, i didnt even realize it was him!
Watching your videos and explanations already enhanced my ability to distinguish how a singer sings and my understanding to emulate these techniques. You definitely won yourself a new student soon!
Can you please do the song "End Up Dead" by Nick Thurl Mavromatis? Either that or October Ends "Damaged". That's his band. Loving all the content man thanks so much for doing these! Please keep them coming 🖤
Hey Chris, I really appreciate your highly informative analysis videos. I'd be happy to suggest the song "The Grey" for future Bad Omens deep dives. It shows very interesting vulnerability and variability in Noah's vocals. I'm sure many would love your insights on that. Thank you so much!
Coldrain has been the one that completely blew me away. It's almost as if we never lost Chester. Masato is amazing. Bloody Power Fame, Mayday, The Side Effects, Gone, Envy, New Dawn, January 1st, Breathe, Wrong, Runaway, Speak, Li(e)de, Revolution, Insomnia, Stay The Course, The Story, Bury Me, Calling, Paradise, Rabbit Hole, Before I Go, See You, Vengeance etc. These are all examples of perfection.
I'd like to see you cover Jesse Cash from Erra and Ghost Atlas as well someday. A singer out of many (including Noah) who have inspired me and my sound. I'd be interested on your take on him as I haven't seen anyone else cover him yet and I've always loved his sound. Reminds me of Cove Reber, formerly of Saosin, who actually influenced Jesse in a lot ways vocally, and who would also be cool to see you cover at some point as well 🤘
Thank you very much Chris. I've just discovered your channel and I really like how professional and passionate you are. I was wondering if you could do an analysis of the "novocaine" song between too close to touch and bad omens. It is an amazing song with not so much vocals from Noah but Noah and Keaton (R. I. P) give me so much chills in this tribute for Keaton... ❤
The youtube channel of Sumerian Records has A Cappella Versions for the complete Album TDOPOM where it's just Noah's isolated vocals. I highly suggest you to check these out, it's really interesting to hear his vocals like that.
I’d really appreciate a video on Josh Scogin. Anything from the first Norma Jean album or with The Chariot or ‘68. He’s got one of the best screams, in my opinion
Might be a bit different to your usual stuff, but would love to hear you talk about James Murphy from LCD soundsystem. Very interesting and dynamic voice he has
You need to dive into Landon Tewers from The Plot in You! He is THE king of sing screaming, the man is a genius in terms of his vocals, melodies and production. Comparing the song Forgotten to the songs Both to Blame or One Last Time really shows his versatility (not to mention Plot's older stuff and his insane solo work!) I think people could really learn a lot from him, and I'd love to hear your analysis!
I’d love to see your break down of IDWT$ by Bad Omens! Even if you decide not to, give it a listen if haven’t already. I think you’d really love his work on that song!
Hey Chris, you should react to Coldrain's latest song Vengeance. Another Japanese band you might like. Masato's singing/screaming is incredible and you should check out more of their songs.
Hello Chris, Please can you do an analysis of the song « Mayday » by Coldrain ? I love this song and I want a better understanding of what/how the vocalist (Masato) is doing this one :)
Hey Chris, I'd love to see you do an alaysis video of Darko US's new song "Bunny Suit". It's super dynamic both musically and vocally and I really think you'd enjoy it! keep up the good work :)
Great analysis. :) Can I recommend another metal band with male vocalist, but vocal is completely different, I think it could be something interesting for you to analyze. Please react to The Gazette - Blinding Hope. It's japanese band, so lyrics are mostly in japanese, in official MV to this song you can turn on english subs if you want to know lyrics. I hope you will react to it. :)
Noah is a fantastic vocalist, his live lows are especially impressive. A shame that BO's song writing/instrumentation is uninspiring despite for a few decent ones in my opinion.
I keep hearing autotune flanges. I just can't handle it. Otherwise Bad Omens would be in my vein of music. I really think if this wasn't autotuned or quantized and had some breathing throughout the song (tempo drifting) this would be pretty amazing. EDIT: I am not saying it is bad. I am saying it would be better.

I have been obsessed with this ban for a year and a half now they're so fucking incredible. Noah is a beast of a vocalist
1000% agree. He's one of the most versatile and consistent vocalists out there right now, in any genre.
Noah Sebastian is a f**king musical genius
Crazy to think that this album is TWO YEARS OLD NOW! and its been a repeat since I found them in early Dec 2022
You should absolutely get a sit down with Noah, he's super chill and I'm sure you'd enjoy making something with him.
Noah Sebastian’s voice affects me like no other. He is amazing. I’m so glad I know about this band. My favorite. 💙
Noah is one of my favorite vocalists. Incredibly versatile.

And then there's the fact he can execute all of this live night after night. Dude is an amazing vocalist.

Imo nothing beats The death of peace of mind. Amazing song, amazing vocalist.
11:56 same bro, same. Noah just does it to us all
More bad omens please. 😍
There's so much you can learn from Noah's approach to vocals. Really appreciate your analysis, Chris! :)
I was watching a 2020 Bad Omens show and the evolution of the band and Noah's voice is clear. Wonderful songs resulting from talent and a lot of dedication.
Thank you very much Chris for this fantastic analysis.
I sing as well and I’m so glad to see another person take so much appreciation and nerd out over his range and incredible technique! 😅
This one's been on repeat for me for a year 😂😂
I absolutely love everything about this album. Top to bottom incredible. Great analysis, Chris. Thank you.

I think in order to get Noah's recent vocal performance you have to know Keaton Pierce (Rest in peace) work, especially in "Too close too touch".
Can you please do the song "End Up Dead" by Nick Thurl Mavromatis? Either that or October Ends "Damaged". That's his band. Loving all the content man thanks so much for doing these! Please keep them coming 🖤
Chris's stank face during the breakdown makes me feel very seen 🖤
My favourite bad omens song but there’s so many good ones, love all these analysis videos they’re very interesting to me
Absolutely love this band! Thank you for the awesome analysis Chris! Helps a lot for an upcoming vocalist! :)
Which metal vocalist would you most like to interview Chris?
Vessel
Masterful analysis yet again sir 🤘😊
Thank you for your great analysis of this beautiful song!

Great to learn about one of my fav bands!
He, and the whole band, are also amazing live man, they give it all and sound awesome :D
This is so funny I have been listening to him for the past week
Good analysis, Chris!

I'd be curious to hear your analysis of Caleb Shomo of Beartooth.
Very interesting and dynamic voice he has
You must to analyze the ban named Creeper from UK, his vocalist has many styles, and sings amazing

I love this song and I want a better understanding of what/how the vocalist (Masato) is doing this one :)
I reckon a great vocalist to check out is will toledo from car seat headrest especially the song "cute thing"
I'm really curious how Noah did those really pushed and girthy melodic screams on their older stuff.
Sumerian has uploaded the full álbum acapellas. Maybe you would like to check it
Live performance breakdown would be great, but nevertheless great video
Hey Chris, I'd love to see you do an alaysis video of Darko US's new song "Bunny Suit". It's super dynamic both musically and vocally and I really think you'd enjoy it! keep up the good work :)
I think you'd love Trevor from wind walkers voice!!
Could you react to Ha Hyun Woo and his cover Lazenca Save Us? That would be awesome!
The whole album is great. Before this album they had a few catchy tunes, but they found something on this one. What next for these guys?

Because they copy Bring Me the Horizon?
@aslik Not a fan of BMTH's songwriting/production either - maybe it's just a 'me' problem 😅
They're a great band. But they work with Berry D'Vokes to often.
Comment for da algorithm
Streak count:336
Hey Chris! Not sure if you’re aware but the band released a cap alla versions of each song from this album, including nowhere to go 😉
I keep hearing autotune flanges. I just can't handle it. Otherwise Bad Omens would be in my vein of music. I really think if this wasn't autotuned or quantized and had some breathing throughout the song (tempo drifting) this would be pretty amazing. EDIT: I am not saying it is bad. I do a similar thing! But Noah is a beast, Very inspiring.
