    Not sure how it could ever be considered as a "valheim killer", procgen vs static world will always limit the replayability of games like this. BUT, a new entry on the survival / action genre is always welcome.

    • @OneLastMidnight
      @OneLastMidnight  8 місяців тому +2

      Sure. "Valheim Killer" is more like, "next great survival game that pulls peoples attention from something else". I think most games that have had a strong demo or beta release has a tendency of drawing peoples attention for a little while. Valheim is a great game that is only getting better.

      I disagree about procgen. The map tools for enshrouded look amazing and easy to use. If modders get ahold of those tools then the lack of procgen could be a non issue. Not to mention that procgen makes valheim often feel fairly random and generic. It *feels* random and that takes you out of the fantasy fairly often imo. The environment often feels like someone took some large building blocks, mixed them in a bag and then randomly tossed them onto the map. We have played through valheim 3 times now and the map being "different" was never really something that stood out as a positive.

    Honest opinion. They should delay release for a bit. Palworld will hurt their numbers. I'm excited for enshrouded but palworld takes up so much time airway, I don't think I'll try enshrouded for a bit

      Best example is titanfall 2. Almost everyone loves it, but the release window killed the hype and even knowledge it existed

      Yeah, bad timing for Enshrouded to have very popular game come out close to their release, but not sure if it will effect them that much. I ton of people have been waiting for this game and I doubt their fanbase will lose interest. I think they will get the recognition. Also, it will also depend a lot on the coverage they get from content creators.

    • @orclord5719
      @orclord5719 8 місяців тому +6

      @landont.5400 theres about 5 million or more people playing it, a single discord isn't the same size. In not saying enshrouded is bad, I'm just worried about it ending up like titanfall 2. I still play titanfall 2 to this day, took 4 years to hit max rank. It is possible, doesn't mean likely, many games released or even announced at the moment will be ignored.

    I like that we're getting one that's proper medieval (as opposed to Conan for example). But I'm still hoping one day to see something more Great War/WWII era with big naval guns and coastal fortresses, digging trenchworks, and stuff. Still, looks at least interesting enough until Skye or Bellwright comes out.
    Hell, if this game has interior walls, it will already be doing more than Conan: Exiles ever has.

    • @OneLastMidnight
      @OneLastMidnight  8 місяців тому

      Not sure I would call this "proper medieval" - fantasy maybe. Now... Kingdom Come Deliverance is another story, but not a survival game.

    I love it that they give magic an interesting concept of their own. Look forward to explore the world and it's skill tree, the beta version was not enough for me to fully immerse in this game at my own pace of playing.
    I like to sip my games slowly...also my health doesn't give me the opportunity for lenghty gaming time like others.

    • @OneLastMidnight
      @OneLastMidnight  8 місяців тому

      Yeah, it is a really strange approach to pricing. I honestly think they didn't know how much to charge for it. I'm sure they saw it was going to be very popular and it probably sparked many meetings.

    • @-.---.-.-.-
      @-.---.-.-.- 8 місяців тому

      If you don't know the price, then you are more likely to open the store page on launch day (out of curiosity if nothing else), and the first step is half of the journey as they say. It makes the decision to buy it simpler. You might also already have decided to buy it if it is under a certain price, but if you knew the price beforehand then your price tolerance might be lower, as you have time to reason about the details.
      I haven't conducted a study, and I don't have a major in psychology, so I might be completely wrong. I'm fairly certain about the first part though, about using it to get you to the store page after launch.

    • @OneLastMidnight
      @OneLastMidnight  8 місяців тому

      I like it, but only one flaw in your logic. The game will show up on Steam's featured and recommended section to people who have or have searched for survival games, and the price will be displayed on the bottom - bypassing needing to open the page. Other than that... Well... Your thought sounds good. :)

    If the devs release content more than once every year then yes it will kill Valheim. Devs have pretty much run off with the cash at this pont.

    • @amatthew1231
      @amatthew1231 8 місяців тому +5

      Valheim didn't promise or commit to more content, they released a roadmap but everything after the initial release was described as bonus. That dev team was never trying to do a super long 'game as a service' bullshit model where you paying somehow entitles you to imaginary yet-to-exist content.
      Valheim was like $20, you paid that, you received a little indie game. They didn't 'run off with' their fucking profits they earned their money.

    • @ashcosmo3854
      @ashcosmo3854 8 місяців тому

      @amatthew1231 They certainly never made it clear they had no intentions to not further develop the game. If they're happy with not releasing content then why are they releasing content ? Albeit at a snails pace.

    • @amatthew1231
      @amatthew1231 8 місяців тому

      @@ashcosmo3854 They are releasing content as a bonus to the initial release. That company was never ready for their success and had no interest or intention to massively expand their team. So they got a fuck ton of money cause everyone bought their game but from day one that game was only ever worth $20. It was a one and done. Everyone who bought it wanted more content so the same small tiny team started making new content but it was at the same rate they created the game at.
      I understand that a tiny indie dev company not immediately going into corporate greed mode to juice its community might sound very foreign with the game companies we deal with.
      The dream scenario of a small indie team creating something everyone loves, and then that thing getting constant free high quality support for years is VERY VERY rare. To the point where it's only happened to a few games. One of them being Minecraft.
