@@rokkitkit Hi Rod, I'd just like to give a little advice if you don't mind. Please don't ever light your gas burner down low in the boat like you did to make your cup of tea at the start of this vid. The fumes from petrol are heavier than air so sitting high like you were you probably wont smell them. If there's any fumes in the boat it will cause a huge flash and fire. I know this because while I was fishing for many years we were in 3 searches at different times for boats who were found to do this. In each case there were no survivors.

Great adventure. Only can dream about doing this type of stuff. Yamaha engines for the win too.. Yonks back, my grandfather replaced a Mariner with a brand new Yamaha 30CV...
His reasoning was that all commercial fishing lifeboats used Yamaha engines where he lived. And they never let him down.

How about on the two front sections of the tarp, add two flaps with a few neodymium magnets stitched in so they can attach to the outer hull of the boat…. Assuming it is magnetic? although i have a feeling it may be aluminium, I can’t recall what you said when you got the boat. And then in the main tarp add magnets the width of the flaps up, so you can magnet the flap up under on the tarp out of the way or down on the hull for some protection.

When I watched the first part, I thought those waves are going to come through at high tide. I'm glad it wasn't problematic. When at anchor like that in exposed areas have a longer and heavier chain. It dampens the wave effect and also helps prevent the waves transferring energy to your anchor and lifting it. There is a way of working out chain weight and length. I don't know it. Find an old salt or maybe the internet will have some type of equation as to what is optimal.

Beware of cheap nylon rope, the sun deteriorates the nylon quickly, My hammock was strung with thick nylon rope, even though visually it looked ok it broke (a year in uninterrupted sunlight), after recovering from the hammock meeting the ground hard I bought quality sailing rope for items that'll be in the sun. Fortunately my back was uninjured from the contact, lesson learnt the hard way.
