  • So I finally did it, I ate Shirako 😬 Shirako is actually a Japanese delicacy loved for its velvety texture and mild flavour. If you like this series, please thumb it up! It takes a lot of courage but if you guys like them I will keep it up, hahaha.

      Rachel & Jun I've replayed that part and realized it's a very nice sound effect.
      There are at least two brass instruments (one in each channel, with the main brass being played on the right one) and some percussion (a hihat?) in the background. It sounds like there's a fourth instrument, but that could be some sort of illusion caused by the reverb.
      I'd say this is not a random MIDI file someone put together in their spare time.

    Fish sperm is quite popular in the UK, although I don't think most people know what it is they're eating. Cod milts are usually rolled in flour, fried and then eaten on toast.
    edit- Should say it's mostly popular with the older generation.

    Hello Sharla-chan, I'm enjoying your every Vlogs :)
    Good job this mission is! Big hands!!! I like SHIRAKO and I've had it since I was a boy,So glad you felt tasty :)) I can't help laughing that your impression for SHIRAKO was absolutely changed before and after lol Btw I've never thought that we always eat a fish spam sac. Eating caviar or fish spawn is mostly as gross as it, right? (無理やり?lol
    Anyway, glad you tasted Japanese food and shared with you about it as well.
    これからもまた、食べた事のない美味しい日本食wにチャレンジするのを楽しみにしています♪ Cheers! B-)

    Nice! :D
    I compared the taste and texture to fried tofu. Ate it together with a friend at an Izakaya where I knew the owner and he said he would put out some food for us. My friend doesn't understand Japanese. So when the owner brought out the shirako (I had salmon shirako, not cod though) I didn't say anything to my friend. He was like "oh, this is nice. Is this fried tofu?" and when he put the last bit in his mouth I told him what it was, the change of his face was brilliant.
    It was also the first time for me. And yes, the thought is weird, but it's good! However, I wouldn't order it either, unless it would be to let someone experience it. I would eat it if it was on the table though, I think.

      一気に, in roman lettering "ikkini" means "at once", "all at once" or "in one go", which is what they were saying here, it's basically like saying "in one bite" but it can be used outside of food

これぞ正真正銘のonly in Japan.
    HENTAI食文化とは、いわないで・・・。
    一度トライしてみてほしい・・・毒は抜けているので死ぬことはない、はず。北陸・石川県の特産品です。

    多分、食べたことある外国人、それほど多くないと思う。

    If you guys call it milt, would it be easier? My mother used to cook herring with innards in it and of course roe was still there. It was either eggs or sperm. Although I preferred the eggs because they were more tasteful to me but the other one was OK, too. It was years later that I learned the function of the non-egg organ, and still more years to relate it with that of human beings, by which time cod milt was nothing but food to me.

      I'm pretty honest about what I can't eat... so when I go out for dinner with people I will apologise and say something like "I'm sorry, I can't eat natto or fish eggs" and everyone is very understanding. I'm pretty sure most people realize that Japanese cuisine is very unique, and foreign people may be a little apprehensive about trying it. If you are polite, I don't think you're going to offend anyone ^^

      That's good to know, would you ever try fugu? I've heard such alot about it,like is it really as dangerous as people say it is?

    • @WalterWorldVlog
      @WalterWorldVlog 10 років тому +1

      Sharla in Japan «"[...] I can't eat natto [...]"»
      That's totally against the saying "When in nattoland, eat what the nattolanders eat".
      I'm not over there, so I'm free to experiment with different ways to eat natto, like making a sandwich of it -- natto+shoyu and some nori in a bread roll (a shorter version of the baguette).

    • @iamlinda100
      @iamlinda100 10 років тому +1

      Shana Mulder
      fugu itself is poisonous, but the Japanese are clever in how they prepare & serve it, they remove all the poisonous parts and only serve the parts of the fugu that are safe to eat. Also, because fugu is so dangerous, all chefs must be certified to be able to prepare & serve fugu in restaurants etc, so rest assured, all the fugu that are served in restaurants are all professionally prepared & served by certified chefs, and only the non-poisonous parts of the fugu are served. Like all foods, the key is to know how to prepare & cook the food properly, any sort of food is dangerous if they are not prepared or cooked properly.
      I've tried fugu before and it tastes really nice, so I definitely recommend you give it a try.

    観光で来ている人では、口に運べなかったにじゃないですか(笑)
    お酒のつまみで、酒盗(しゅとう)とか、コノワタなど有りますので、良かったら挑戦して下さいw

    «Thanks for [...] reading the description box because no one ever does that [...]»
    Some of us do, Sharla. We can't tell you why just yet, but some of us do.
    BTW, your Google+ post for this video has a very... on-topic tag o_Ô

    • @heyitssharla
      @heyitssharla  9 років тому +1

      HAHA how do those tags get put on there? Are they just randomly assigned? xD;;;

    • @WalterWorldVlog
      @WalterWorldVlog 9 років тому

      Oh, you didn't put it there?
      Or did you actually do it, but now has to pretend to be this nice and innocent girl everybody loves? o_Ô
      You know you can always blame it on Dark Sharla, right? After all, that's what evil twins are for.

    • @heyitssharla
      @heyitssharla  9 років тому +2

      WalterWorld·Vlog Ahaha no I have no idea how to use Google +. It confuses the hell out of me. I just have it set up so it automatically posts my videos to there from UA-cam. Kinda frightening that it automatically chose to tag it with that considering I didn't even have that in the UA-cam tags :/ Scared to look at what my other vids have been tagged with haha.

    • @heyitssharla

      WalterWorld·Vlog Looked through them all and they were pretty tame, haha. And it let me remove the sperm tag, YAY.

    • @WalterWorldVlog
      @WalterWorldVlog 9 років тому

      Let's hope that, by removing the sperm tag, you've kept them from reproducing :-p
