I'm writing this for my dad, Johnny Cowell: "I'm very happy that you have enjoyed hearing this composition with Larry playing. Not only was Larry a good friend, but also a great trumpet player and it was always a pleasure to sit beside him"
Even though I wasn't officially a student of Larry - the amount of attention, tips and just general interest he showed to me as a student of the trumpet was gracious, caring and appreciated. I've been lucky to hear many of the world's great trumpet sections and I still think Larry was one of the greatest ever to play principal trumpet. His wonderful, brilliant sound still stays with me to this day. Thanks for posting this and of course for all of the wonderful comments as well.

My brother, Larry Weeks, played on this recording. How wonderful to hear it again. He died in 1997 in a plane crash.
Amazing... miss you Dad.
Still miss him every day.
