I have installed android studio 4.1
When i open n new project i get a design view which is white blank n next to it blue one
I dont get 3 buttons down in the white one
N cant even see the hello world text
But in component view at the left i see textview hello world.
When i try dragging components in design from palette they dont come. What do i do plzz help

Check if you have given the right XML IDs to each of the elements

I think the problem is with the listners. Like we have given command to add or multiple numbers in the textboxes when the user click respective button. But if the user clicks the button without entering any value in the text field, there is nothing left to add or multiply so the app crashes...
What i have found out that we have to set an alertDialog so that if textbox is empty it should give an alert to enter a number
(Sorry if i am wrong because i am a beginner and have begin android app dev by watching your videos and they are really helpful. If you have any tips or anything to refer me you can mail me at *ankeshp7* at gmail dot com)

Java takes everything in string data type
if we need to calculate those data that should be done in int or float
So we need convert that string format to integer
So integer.parseInt helps to do that.

Hi sir, Why should we give number1=Integer.parseInt(num1.getText().toString()); instead of number1=num1.getText(); alone since the text box only allows us to input integers? Why should we use toString () and then again convert to Integer ?

+Pooja Kumaraguru Because num1.getText() doesn't return a string. It returns an EditText object which isn't parseable. Hence, we convert it to a string and then to an integer :)
