Lauren, Thanks for the great tip concerning alternatives for original Lionel coal. I have the 97 loader and the 456 coal ramp unloader. From now on, I will use the new Lionel coal. Thanks for the suggestion!
In my coal car, I`ve been using my {basset hound} Randy`s dry pellet food. In these hard times, why waste money. So hard that Randy landed a job washing dishes. My wife suggested that I use a bag of dried peas .
Hi, I bought an operation coal dump car like yours, but it's not doing the action when I press the button. The magnetic part works. I'm wondering if there is some spring once the magnetic releases the top part. Could you tell me if there are any springs? Thank you
I have a #97 myself. I think that the late prewar / early postwar #3659/3559 dump cars with the red metal dump body would work better with the #97 because the dump body is shorter than the later #3459/3469 or the modern dump cars. (less mess) I also have the #456 coal ramp and the #397 coal loader. Those accessories together with the #3456 operating hopper car will make an impressive coal operation on my layout!!!!!
I've got a reproduction version of the 97 coleloader and then I've got the pre-war version. The reproduction version is not the greatest one it has plastic gears and a very poor choice can motor
Such a classic item!
Thanks for showing !!
Lauren you have some really nice pieces,
Thank you!

I have two of those. I don't have them on my layout right now. Thanks for the video.
Fun to have accessory.
Lionel actually made a manual version with a hand crank

That's sad to hear, I've contemplated some of the re-issues in the past but wasnt sure on the quality.
