    Soo good to hear this engine running. We are all been waiting wor this, so much good work put into the project. We are waitink to get lats bits and pieces done so you can show us how it drives. Very impressive, the best video I've watched today. Thanks

    The best exhaust gaskets are embossed "spring" steel that compress under bolt tension. The large surface area of your copper probably made it ineffective, however if both sides flat and not flexing it should be okay.

      Yip for sure. If these don’t work I’ll be buying proper Subaru ones that probably cost 1/10 if you factor in the time to make these 😂

    Pretty rewarding feeling seeing it fire up and run for the first time especially after all the work you’ve put in
    Well done!!

      Just that pesky whining to deal with!

    Excellent job on the oil drain, if it doesn't fatigue and crack from vibration and load then it'll also act as a turbo brace, which is good if you don't have too much expansion and contraction

      Factory hard lines like that usually have a bellows in them, though

      Cheers, I think we are the same page with that. Will be interesting to see how it all lasts either way it goes

    Love the practical approach to everything on this build. I've used copper sheet annealed before on an old rx7 ht18s turbo after removing the rear housings standard plate for a bigger down pipe, it worked mint, held up for years. looking forward to the new engine build and seeing this make some power.

      there's a different kind of satisfaction when you've built it all yourself right? Save a few pennies and i'll start buying some bits

    Hey Sean, top work on the progress mate, dunno what you doing for Idle control, there are a few options, one crack the throttles open and setup a Ign table that retards the timing as it gets upto temp to bring the idle back down, or another good option is BMW bosch 2 wire items are cheap and work a treat!!! And lastly the timing light thing, a little trick we used to do was pull the spark plug lead off the spark plug a little so it jumps to the spark plug, it gives a better inductive spike thru the HT lead, and ya timing light should pick it up then

    • @senojnaes
      @senojnaes  2 роки тому

      that trick for the timing light worked a treat bro! going to run a 2 wire IC motor for sure

    Hey Sean I had the same issue trying to hook my timing light around an old spark plug lead. Ended up just putting it around the trigger wire for the coil itself (pre-coil) and got a successful flash. I remember seeing a dyno shop try that when they couldn't get RPM signal on someone's COP car, and turns out it worked for me too.

    • @senojnaes
      @senojnaes  2 роки тому +1

      I tried both techniques after the old spark plug lead trick didn't work, but still nothing. Crusty old spark plugs likely aren't helping either

    Awesome setup! You should get those throttle bodies vapour blasted so they really pop in the engine bay, the corrosion on them is kinda letting the team down haha.

    • @senojnaes
      @senojnaes  2 роки тому

      Yeh mate, that's the plan. Will do the entire intake right to the head when I put it back onto the motor it'll end up running. Should look real good then

    • @Bigelboe
      @Bigelboe 2 роки тому

      Mint! Love the look of vapourblast, its so much easier to maintain too, stuff just cleans straight off.

  • @VaughanBrook

    Timing light won't work on coil trigger wire, you'll need to shove an ignition lead between the coil and spark plug and clamp the timing light pickup over that.

    • @senojnaes
      @senojnaes  2 роки тому

      That's exactly what I did
