Thank you for watching ! Please note that this is just one interpretation of what borders may have looked like during this period. Front lines were continuously in flux up until the Treaty of Nerchinsk, and Qing authority over indigenous tribes is also hard to map out.
A great video from you, as always. The siege of Albazin is an especially fascinating topic, where you can see kinda the first clashes between western style fortresses and eastern style siege weapons and tactics, who are not at all effective against a European fort.
I did a wikipedia dive and learned that Natalia Gantimurova, a modern-day descendant of Gantimur, the Evenki chief who defected from Qing to Russia, won Miss Russia 2011. History is funny sometimes
I look forward to that too! In the meantime, Yan Xishan made a rather good one on this topic ua-cam.com/video/CSFYUqH30l4/v-deo.htmlsi=UG-tJe46jb8kvITP

Way more stuff happened here between the Russians and Qings than I thought! Excellent work!
Thanks! The great thing about making these videos is that I also learn a lot in the process.
The Amur basin has such a rich history. Unique ethnic groups like the Nivkh and Ainu, and the story of the Manchus are all fascinating.
Nivkh
i thought the ainu were from sapporo
Yeah, it was, until Mr. "Exceptional violence" came
It's so interesting seeing how that border came to be.

The siege of Albazin was such a pain to soldeirs on bough sides, the Qing won but at the cost of most of their army.
Hello from Blagoveschensk:)
Very interesting
Thank you, king.
Am I the only one who finds it very unsatisfying that Manchuria no longer fills up that whole area?
I dont share your feeling.
You're not alone.
Manchuria keeps filling the whole area. It is simply divided between two countries.

basically, the story of tungusics and mongolized khitans being attacked on a tug of war
Russia lost several wars there

Nanai means "people of the land" in the Nanai language
