i have a satin bonnet as well that I used before this which I just got off of amazon. I just pop that on top to help secure it. Technically u could just use the satin bonnet instead of the scarf, but I find that the bonnet just leaves too much space for my waves to move around so I don't keep a lot of definition. Great for securing my scarf though! hope this help

No it’s not. Satin is man made fibers silk comes from nature. A silk pillow is good for your hair and skin. I have both a scarf and a pillow case, the pillow case for my face and the scarf for my hair.

I would highly NOT recommend this one. I tried it last night (wanted to test something different to the bonnet I normally wear), and I woke up with the front section of my hair completely scrunched flat so that the scalp was even showing -- so not only did my curls look terrible, but that means this scarf method is mashing the entire front area of your hair (for 8 hours of sleep) which may quickly cause breakage/thinning/hair loss. While there are silk scarf night time protection methods that do not cause tension and/or stress on the hair, this one is unfortunately not one of them. She's super beautiful and I'm sure her intentions come from a good place, but after trying it, I couldn't, in good conscience, not warn other beautiful curly/wavy sisters against this particular manner of wrapping. Tried it for you so you wouldn't have to --- please don't do it.

Why don't you just buy a satin bonnet? The way that you tied it looked very uncomfortable and very tight. It looks like it would be difficult to sleep in. If you bought a bonnet you would have more room and it wouldn't be as constricting.

Could you do this with a regular cotton tshirt that I used for plopping? Would it protect my hair the same way as the satin scarf??
Cotton wicks away moisture, so I wouldn't do cotton over night like this

if you have a bonnet you can use that to help secure it. If not, a sleeping mask also helps you just keep it strapped on.
