I think the message is very important (and relevant). The PA images are really evocative. The shot of the tulips in the hallway is a heartbreaker. Great, as always!

I love my Olympus EM1ii for "serious" work but the GX80 is my go-to camera for street and travel. For street, I use 17 and 45mm primes (35 and 90FFE) and for travel I take 14-42 and 45-175 zooms giving an FFE range of 28-350. I usually take the Olympus 9mm fisheye bodycap lens too, for when I need the extra width. I love the hand feel of the GX80 too, it reminds me of my old Sony A7 series bodies and, of course, it has an EVF as well as an LCD screen.

I'm on vacation at the moment and this little rig has been delightful to use. It's so easy to carry and I'm super happy that I don't need much more on some adventures. I wish I had a film camera in me, though! 😂 Thx for the comment. 💯

I don’t know if you have the 15mm f1.7 Panasonic/Leica lens, but you should give that a try on the GX85. It might end up permanently attached!

Thanks for sharing Jason, once again always a joy to listen to what you have to say. I have found myself in similar situations, deciding what cameras to bring, in the end I always bring to much gear and end up using only one. But the message your sharing is so honest...sometimes we want the latest and greatest but it's great knowing that what you have already is more than enough. My wife said to me just before I told her that I wanted to buy a used Hasselblad SWC...." if you want to buy another camera sale one or two and used that money " ✌
    Cheers Jason !!

Thanks for chimin in, Marlon! I sold all my Canon gear to buy that 50mm APO Lanthar a while back and it was a great decision. I didn't use those cameras anymore, so I'm happy they're gone. I hope you're still diggin' black & white imagery, because you're REALLY good at it. Keep on keepin' on.

The best match lens for GX85 is 20mm F1.7 In order to take photo with unsurpassed image quality, I would use a directivity white balance filter to perform the on-site manual white balance before taking any photo.

It's good to know that you like the M43 format. I like that pancake lens too but mine broke down after a few years despite occasional usage only. That said, it's not a lens that I will miss, yet.

Ah. Super interesting to hear. I'm hoping I get a few years out of it (with heavy use) - thankfully it was super cheap.
It's hard breaking from M43. It's an underrated format, IMO.

Good to know, I have ten cameras that I collected in the past year and am satisfied with those choices.
Too big! I realize I don’t take it, I have a Ricoh gxr that I play with like a 10 year old boy, a Sony rx100vii, a Fuji xt1, Ricoh grdii, gx85, they all fun good toys.

I like my GX85. I too don’t need the latest and greatest. I do feel let down by LUMIX by not providing an audio jac for a microphone.

It was a strange decision to not include a mic jack. Maybe it was to keep the form factor smaller? Regardless, the camera would have been a lot better. Thanks for chiming in.

      @tim_means_heart 6 місяців тому

Right? I still don't get why they gave up on mic input for the GX line. There was one on the GX8 but then none on the GX85 nor the GX9. That doesn't make sense to me.
Hopefully they'll put one on their next GX camera if they ever release a new one...

@@tim_means_heart I think LUMIX has abandoned the photographer. I think lumix has abandoned the GX body line. I am so sad.
I want an updated GX8. 3.5mm mic input. Maybe a jac for earphones. IBIS for video. The G9ii PDAF sensor. A tilting screen. Give Leica a run for their money with the D-Lux8.

@@TokyoGritandGrain I agree. Having a mic jac takes up so little room. Panasonic bodies are know for their video features. How can you have all these video features and supply an audio jac? The GX bodies wouldn’t compete with the G or GH bodies.
