Hoo boy, Unreal Engine. I hate it as much as I hate the Unity Engine since it runs HORRIBLY on older PCs! Fyi, games in Unreal Engine can be picky with which PCs are played one. Some games will run fine, and some will not launch at all regardless of what you do to make it run.

It's probably just scurvy. The mayor himself says that all they eat is saltuna, and that the concept of eating a vegetable is just "grotesque"
Meanwhile the other settlement that eats vegetables and fruit is perfectly ok
forty minutes in, vinny gets locked into the same infinitely looping error message for the fourth time

He doesn't exactly deserve praise for dedication when he's the one causing the issue repeatedly. The definition of insanity is repeating the same action and expecting a different outcome. The second time it happened, Vinny should have put two and two together and realized that his edit to the config file for his custom resolution was causing the issue. The resolution isn't in the default list because it's not supported. If Vinny continues to use a custom resolution, any issues that crop up as a result are not Obsidian's fault.

@@flowonthego It is not the LITERAL definition of insanity. It is a saying, meant to stress the point that it is futile to repeat the same actions, expecting a different outcome. AKA: Vinny repeatedly forcing games he plays to run at an unsupported resolution by editing config files and expecting them to run flawlessly despite the fact that it regularly causes problems. It's like a person hitting their own head, saying "OW! That hurts!" and then someone next to them says "So stop hitting yourself!" and instead they keep doing it.

Ok, so... The "viper on rope" is clearly about Rope Snake. You played Resident Evil recently with Yawn the giant snake so you dreamt the Rope Snake fulfilled his dreams and grew huuuuge just like it. The snake then ate you because of all those mean crab rave jokes of not streaming MOTHER 3. Crabs can be called "viral pubes" on certain cultures. The "no license" is because you played MOTHER 3 emulated in english due to the lack of an official western release.

But now it takes ages to download each game on console. I play PS2 and 360 because you put a disc in and you’ve immediately got gameplay.

He ended up being much more interesting than I thought at first after giving him the book, I was expecting the usual "Thank you for completing my fetch quest, here's some money. Goodbye." At that point I could tell this was gonna be a good game

Glad you went the gampepass route. I went that route because I wasn't sure if I would like it right off the bat. It's really convenient to people who want to try games first.

So many of the characters in this look like a random 56% face with a hipster haircut/moustache. Especially the randomly generated stuff Vinny was cycling through.
The lighting doesn't do them many favors either. Everytime you speak to a character, they have big backlight applied to them. It's why everyone's left ear looks like heated metal.

The hair is probably the worst offender because it's all the same niche styles. In a game like New Vegas you had a healthy mix from long to well kept to razzled to wild and rebellious. In this you get

Justin Gates Probably the case, if he's still on windows 7 like Joel is, 7 is garbage at scaling larger resolution monitors, especially 4k (which is probably what he bought to try to replace the wonky one). Even If he's on 10 it's not that great at it without some manual adjusting.

Why doesnt he just get a goddamn 1080p monitor for $100-$150? He keeps running into jank issues with his 1600x900 that just arent worth it.
It urks me that he calls out Obsidian as if his shitty set up is not the cause, this is not an Obsidian problem, this is a Vinny problem. Vinny straight up says he knows the monitor is the issue. I know why he says he keeps it but somethings gotta give. Either he needs to re-organize his space and make room or he's gonna experience more and more problems.
I love ya Vinny, but don't blame Obsidian for something on your end/is an anomaly in the userbase.

@@warbossgegguz679 there was a game where the graphics setting showed the model number of his monitor and I looked it up and it said max res was 1600x900
The main issue is Vinny's insistence on playing at 1600x900 even when the resolution is unsupported. Then he forces the game to run in this resolution by editing a config file and wonders why he gets weird graphical issues in-game. Can't blame the developer for a user's insistence on running a game in an unsupported resolution.
@@warbossgegguz679 His monitor is 1680x1050, 16:10 ratio. He plays games windowed at 1600x900, 16:9 ratio, because that's the closest he can get. The reason he has a non-1080p monitor is because he doesn't have enough space on his desk.
Before watching: interested to see how the graphics are on the pc version. I got it on ps4 as a gift, and it kinda looks like a last gen title at times. I'm not too picky about it personally, but I was a bit surprised. Also had some issues with low LoD textures staying loaded while up close. Makes it feel like you're playing a ps1 game lol

I literally have an over clocked i9900k and it still shits the bed. crosshair placement is off center as well. The headbob is out of sync with the skybox.
I was anticipating this game way too much and I literally got a helping of headache and motion sickness from playing this game for 30 minutes.

Nvidias overlay is alt + z for recording clips.
Nvidia Freestyle is alt ÷ f3, which is in-game filters to improve or alter the look similar to Photoshop ones. Use this on games like Apex where it looks as if they threw a grey filter over the game. Or dark souls to make it look like a water color in the boreal valley.

@@LunarFirestorm yup. I got plenty of RAM so definitely not a issue for me. Just nice little features going forward. I'd love to see the game bar and steam overlay become integrated one day. With Microsoft and others headed back to steam I have my fingers crossed.
Vinny, the graphical settings keep fucking up because 1600x900 and 21 by 9 ultrawide resolutionss are unsupported in this game. You're manually editing the config file to force use of an unsupported resolution rather than selecting a resolution from the dropdown menu. This isn't an Obsidian issue or a problem with the game You can't refuse to use anything but an unsupported resolution and simultaneously complain about the problems resulting from it. Either stop doing it, or deal with the consequences.
Ah man I wish I was there to catch the stream live. While I absolutely adore the Himbo idea, it would have been nice to see Phlish, the original concept for Vinny’s character in Fallout 4, to make a return in some form!
He kind of started with Phlish but he adored the Himbo idea afterwards.

Outer worlds is basically trials in tainted space but more gameplay focused.
My bugs are audio cutting in and out randomly and sometimes when I attempt to talk to someone, it can take about 10 seconds for the game to step through LOD levels before they start.

As much as people like to meme about Sakurai and the Smash team being jokers that are trying to trick people, they don't typically outright say one thing and then do the other immediately after. If they say a character won't be announced there, they mean it.

Also, agreed with the consequence part. Too bad people automatically form their opinions from what they read in comments / reviews first, elsewise they might feel like buying it and experiencing those consequences themselves.

There's something about the facial animation when talking to NPCs that just feels... off.
It reminds me of talking to NPCs in Oblivion. Like all their emoting is in their eyes and mouth.
Feels stiff and awkward. Maybe I'm just too used to the gesticulating you usually see in other games.

That's sort of the trade-off with huge open world games. So many lines of dialogue, so many different plotlines that can unfold in so many different ways, it's not feasible to give each line unique animations, so you have to make due with a bit less detail in things like facial animations.
The Technical Difficulties
Vinny, it'd be nice if you read the dialogue options you choose aloud.
It can be a bit jarring to follow at times, when I don't catch what you choose.

The facial animations remind me of Oblivion, in a warm fuzzy kind of way.
Am I the only person who isn't bothered by the faces in Oblivion? Just curious since I see a lot of people complain about them post-Skyrim but I never had any issue. Plus, the ability to completely fuck up your character's face is amazing.
Even then, fucked facial animations are a small price to pay for the best Elderscrolls game (yeah, I said it, Morrowind stans).
@@warbossgegguz679 I think they are fine as well, they can be a little potatoy at times but for the most part its charming. Also i find that games warm glow from its lighting style to still be incredibly visually appealing after all this time.
And yea its the best ES game. Oblivion has by far and away the best side quests and overall experience.
@@watariovids1645 My least favorite thing in oblivion, and the thing that dates it the most imo, is the INSANE amount of bloom.
To me Oblivion is arguably one of if not the best arpgs ever purely because it balances the elements so perfectly. It takes what worked from Morrowind and strips away what was clunky/dated that was brought in purely because of CRPG traditions (like "use best attack" and whatnot). The it's a perfect middle ground between the overly oldschool Morrowind and the excessive freedom of Skyrim. Up there with Ultima Underworld imo, horse armor memes aside.
Also, the fast travel from Daggerfell is back, despite Morrowind stans and many other less seasoned gamers thinking it was something added in Oblivion for the sake of being lazy. Nah, Bethesda was well aware of the tedium of traversing massive landscapes every time you wanted to go somewhere even back in the 90s.

Even though this isn't a Fallout game, Todd Howard's curse persists it seems. "It just works"
The only glitch I've ever had was a rendering error caused by incompatibility with a recent driver update (AMD's fault, not Obsidian's). The game is remarkably stable (played it for eight hours straight on PC at one point without a crash or memory leak) and bug-free, it's just that Vinny breaks everything he touches.
Obsidian isn't known for making the most bug free of games. In fact, basically none of the oldschool CRPG devs (LookingGlass, Origin, Bioware, Bethesda, Interplay, Obsidian, etc) are. People just generally learned to ignore it for the sake of gameplay. Guess people just kind of forgot over time though.

Don't upgrade your cpu just from this game. CPUs haven't advanced much in the past few years compared to GPUs. A decent one from 2015 (or even 2012 in my case) is just fine for gaming and streaming.
I really hope Vinny streams New Vegas someday.
Never played a Fallout game prior to Outer Worlds; however, After playing it I really enjoyed it. Surprisingly, the dialogue was pretty good.
Outer Worlds isn't Fallout.
New Vegas (Please get the bug patches) is a ton better if you like the RPG element. If you like swinging melee weapons at stuff, OW is probably better.

Vinny, don't read this, just play the game and have fun. I've kept spoilers out of this but it might dampen the game if you read this.
So, I think the humor detracts from the story.
That might sound weird. I usually love humor. But there's a blend of humor and story telling, you can have dark situations and characters with a grim sense of humor, but at a certain point it starts to do a disservice to the story.
Compare this to New Vegas, which Obsidian wants you to do since they pushed in the trailer that it's "From the team that made New Vegas"
In New Vegas, there's plenty of funny moments, but the more outlandish and silly things were hidden behind a trait, Wild Wild Wasteland. This kept the tone of the game consistent and painted a serious and realistic world. Unlike Fallout 3, it doesn't have too many wacky things, like people worshipping a nuke and building a giant metal bowl around it, instead it has humor in the way of a degenerate wanting a robot to fist him, because he's in a comfortable, civilized and guarded place, and he's able to seek out devious fantasies, instead of worrying about finding his next meal.
In The Outer Worlds, the humor, for the best term I can think of, is "Zany"
When people are facing death, they often shoot off one liners or quirky quips, after watching an execution of someone helpless, they rattle off a funny line.
That's not /always/ bad, there's a lot of moments that can work in. But it's everywhere. It makes the world feel specially cruel when people watch each other die and decide to make a joke. In a game like Fallout, you can argue the wastes are harsh, but characters usually express anger or disgust when someone is killed, and generally come off as distressed when dealing with situations where people are dying or likely to die.
Take for instance Nelson. In Nelson, you come across an NCR guy that warns you "Woah, you need to go back where you came from, Legion attack, hostage situation, shit's gone to hell" and he's grimly arranging for snipers to kill the hostages who are crucified so that the soldiers can storm it with a clear conscience. Now, if we approached this the way Outer Worlds would, when you approached he'd go
"WOAH there! Can't let you go on in, we've got a hostage situation. Now, we can't just leave our men *hanging* so we're planning on finding a way to get them out! If you go down there to help them, the Legion will be *cross* with you." and it'd fuck up the entire tone of the area and the mission. Outer Worlds made the mistake of making one of the factions comical and absurd, with evidence scattered about like signs telling people to duck for low hanging pipes, because they might damage the pipes. That's funny. then it can't help it's self and goes "And your pay will be deducted accordingly" and adds more words than it needs. The problem here is that one of two factions still embraces this absurdity, and so you constantly have that as a "tone" setter.
The people seem especially dehumanized, making jokes about the recently executed and murdered, and other such things.
A lot of people who played and enjoyed this game have stated that they felt a certain disappointment or emptiness, and I think Tone is the entire problem, while one can enjoy a quick quip, it spoils the meal.
Also I think it inherently becomes more inflammatory in discussion when you try and play absurdities for laughs when dealing with a serious plot involving political things that people get heated over. People didn't mind the jabs at overbearing corporatism in Fallout (And there's a LOT of them) because it does it in a much more realistic and less out there fashion, and you see the end result of ruination, when it comes to criticizing democracy and the influence of lobbyism, it takes it seriously and makes the argument realistically, instead of trying to bank on absurdism.
I dont understand how people have so many issues in the outer worlds, I'm running it in my lap top just fine! But!! then again maybe it's performance issue somewhere, or it doesn't get along with the extra hardware.. idk
