Just bought my own RS3! $50k, 32k miles, mythos black with alu-optics and dynamics/technology packages. Thing is an absolute beast, makes me want to drive for no reason even more than my last few cars have.

@@bobjohnson3293 almost 10k miles on the car now. Tuned about 500 miles ago, got a set of 18” wheels and lowering springs as well as some midpipes.
Midpipes are by far the best bang for buck upgrade. Adds great sound, and you don’t even really need a brand name set- it’s not a big piece and can easily be made by a shop for cheaper if you’re willing to do that.
18” wheels were absolutely worth it, although I went a square 255/35 DWS06+ setup which I will say doesn’t handle as well as the dynamic pack reverse staggered set. I don’t do anything more than spirited driving though, so for me the tire wear and rotatability was more important.
A buddy of mine also sold me the H&R VTF springs for 600 and was nice enough to throw in his mag ride struts and 034 camber plates. The camber plates do help handling but I removed them because 1. Tire wear and 2. They introduce a fair bit of NVH, especially over bumps. The springs are great but I have the first gen ones which clunk a little over bumps- I don’t mind it and it’s gone down a lot since I removed the camber plates but the revised springs apparently don’t have this issue. Most go with 034 springs anyways, I got mine used and at a great price so I didn’t care much. For reference, with those springs and 255 width tires, fitment is literally perfect in the rear- I had 10mm spacers added to the front which was perfect fitment with the camber plates still on and without them, I honestly think just 5mm would have sufficed.
Now for the big thing- I absolutely LOVED the car stock. Was an absolute beast and I didn’t really *need* the extra power but the Black Friday sale came up and I had to get my brakes changed anyways (neuspeed front and rear, highly recommend), so I bought the unitronic stage 1+ 93 tune (it’s my daily and e85 isn’t super common where I live) with the stage 2 TCU tune. 99% of the time, the car drives smoother and sounds better- I actually think the factory burble tune was better than the unitronic one but it’s not too offensive with unitronic. If anything, I think the burbles are actually quieter and there’s less pops lol. Starting from a full stop and at very low throttle there is some jerkiness, which isn’t ideal but it’s not a deal breaker for me. With the tune, the exhaust flaps always stay open in dynamic and individual (if you have individual programmed to dynamic exhaust), which is great for me as one of my flaps is loose and rattles when it closes lol. That in conjunction with the midpipes really does mean a fantastic sounding car.
The power, of course, is addictive. The numbers climb way faster, launches are f*cking insane, even more than how amazing they were already fully stock. It’s like a whole new car. Best thing though, is how much more effortless it is to drive. The power and trans tuning work together seamlessly to make daily driving an absolute dream and you would never know how much more power the car had.
Overall, I stand by everything I’ve said. Car is freakin fantastic. Usually around 10k miles I get the urge to sell, but with this car even when I so much as think about selling, I don’t even know what else I would buy- nothing is as good of an all-rounder IMO, and the DAZA motor at the center of it all is an absolute dream to drive. Nothing like this thing on the road, always getting compliments from people who know what it is, and for those who don’t, it’s a low-key enough looking car that not everyone is trying to race you like they did in my scat pack widebody lol. 10/10, absolutely recommend, don’t regret a freakin thing.

@@bobjohnson3293 maintenance has been super carefree. Got my 30k and 40k intervals bundled at the dealer before I had my shop figured out so I paid $1200 for those two. Bit of a rip-off but that’s how dealers go with these things. I also have a 7 year warranty- the drivetrain is really robust so I’m not worried about it and as overengineered as this car is, it takes to stage 1 very well and doesn’t really lose much if anything in terms of reliability. It’s more the other electronics and moving parts like the folding screen which ‘17 and ‘18 model years have that I’m worried about. Thankfully the 8v is a pretty simple car so shouldn’t be much of anything to worry about in terms of those.
Just took mine for a evening blast and man the sound just makes you feel so good and the fact you are flying!
Have a B8.5 A4 (K04 + APR 100 ECU tune) and it’s fun to drive...
But you RS3 guys are on a whole different level!

I've been watching reviews about ownership - been my dream car for a while now. What year is yours? Any trouble from the cops with the cracking of your exhaust? Serious questions. My lease is up soon and I'm seriously considering buying one of these. Thanks for the POV drive of my dream car! I hope to be doing a cruise like just like this in the near future.

Looking to upgrade my 2018 s5 to this or a 2018 rs5 coupe.
If you want a more luxurious car rs5 it’ll be very fast and smoother but this is more compact (still seats 4-5) but is a lil rowdier and with a tune and bolt ons could be faster. Depends on what you’re going for
