Your reaction is priceless! Vasc has to be close to hitting the same notes as Amy Lee. And yeah - major skill is required to go between harsh vocals and melodic singing. It's what I love about metal.

That's exactly what I've been thinking after hearing QoFy singing some bits and pieces. That would be a REALLY fun match-up, I think!
This is a great cover and I love it so much he actually does do a Phantom of the Opera cover
Two: "The Music Of The Night" and "The Phantom of the Opera" (the main theme) (Nightwish version), which features Dragica. Both songs are totally awesome! I'm listening to them right now (in the order shown). SO BEAUTIFUL! If you go and listen, at 1:43 in "The Music..." you will definitely melt! Oh, my gosh! In the theme music, there's some really fantastic camera work, with overlays that really play into the feelings of the song.
Dan has an amazing voice, i have seen some videos of him now and that he can sing NORMAL after his growl is i have no word for it and that you can hear the lyric i evry song AWSOME. i think he have songs from Pantom of the opra,but you have to listen to Amezing Grace 💕💕🙏🏽🙏🏽

Yes! I love Nightwish, but, Dan does Sleeping Sun better than both Tarja and Floor ... as blasphemous as that may sound, lol.
Funny thing is, I was introduced to Nightwish through Dan's cover of Sleeping Sun that I had fallen in love with. Had to go check out the original, and fell in love with NW.
I found Dan through Disturbed's Sound of Silence cover ... Dan's video kept popping up while I was browsing Disturbed's catalog so I finally checked him out too and was smitten. Dan Vasc, David Draiman, Floor Jansen ... vocal gods! ❤
Most metal singers who don't destroy their voices after a song or two and who do screams like that on a regular basis tend to actually be incredible singers clean as well. If doing a metal scream hurts your voice in any way, then you're doing it incorrectly. Underpinning all good metal screams by nearly any metal artist is a very, very strong, exceptionally supported, clean voice. If you do not have that foundation underpinning your distortion technique you will ruin your voice very quickly. The best metal singers in the world have very strong clean beautiful voices when they wish to sing in that style, that amount of proper support and ease of singing is what allows them to lean into such heavy distortion without hurting themselves. There have been some metal bands who only lasted a few years because their lead singers went about screaming incorrectly and almost permanently (or even permanently) lost their ability to sing. It's a common conception by many people that singing hard metal style vocals hurts the voice, it shouldn't. If done properly a note like the one Dan did at 5:26 or 6:00 you should barely feel it. A strong, clean, well supported chest voice or mix, with distortion added on top of it (also those screams tend to be wayyy quieter in real life than people expect, go listen sometime to unprocessed (no reverb, compression, gain, etc) raw metal vocal tracks, metal really takes advantage of the invention of the microphone). Dan has an exceptionally good voice, probably my current favorite voice in metal, I just don't like the common narrative that metal singers usually can't sing, because it's just not really true. Any extreme vocal technique requires a very, very strong understanding of good technique to be able to do without ruining your voice, sometimes irreversibly.
Also... if you think that last note was held long, then don't watch his cover of Black Wind Fire and Steel (or the original) or your mind will melt...

Every song that Dan does is a display of perfection. However, in this song, he shows an almost inhuman level of perfection in almost every vocal style/range a human voice is capable of singing. 33 years old but he already beats most (if not all) singers in vocal range (imo). I agree, Dan is in a league of his own!
You can really hear Dans opera voice in his version of Nessun Dorma by Puccini. It’s outstanding!
