I cannot understand those thumbs down. Music is music based on deep cultural roots and traditions. Specially this type of music. There are no words or poetry. Just sound ! Next time when you are in the presence of young children playing their instruments first time see their rhythm and joy on their faces. Their reproduction of sounds of nature through their instruments (or vocal cords) with practice and encouragement will produce something unique for the world to enjoy . Just like the music by Dr. Above. If you don’t like it or is alien to you it is ok. Just stop listening and pick up an instrument of your own and make your own music. Otherwise just stay silent and let others enjoy. Appreciating Art, creativity and music is all very subjective and very pertinent to ones roots and upbringing .life is for living and to let others to live theirs. If You can help ,it is fantastic.if you cannot - that is fine too. As I am sure others will help & appreciate. Haves good day now. Byee

Kapi ragam....The Ragam traces its origin to north India, to the Kafi thaat which forms the basis for several compositions in Hindustani music including tappas, bhajans and kirtans. The first shades of Kapi ( Karnataka Kapi),,,,,, S R2 M1 P N2 S / S N 2 P M1 G2 R2 S made their way into the Carnatic music arena around the 17th century in compositions by the music Trinity, Swati Tirunal and so forth. Later, seasonings richer than cinnamon and chicory were added to this raga, making it the ‘Hindustani Kapi’ we know today, different from its parent ‘Kafi’.....n audava-vakra sampoorna ragam with an ascending pentatonic scale and a descending scale with seven notes, but not in a descending order. ..:with notes S R₂ M₁ P N₃ Ṡ / Ṡ N₂ D₂ N₂ P M₁ G₂ R₂ S [ ie.with presence of different Nishaada swaras (N2 and N3) that lends a distinctive quality , along with the fact that it uses a set of vakra swaras N2 D2 N2 in Avarohanam]. I should say here that I have recently listened the Maharaja Swathi Thirunal s kriti-/"Sumasayaka Vidhuramava" in 'Karnataka Kapi, only. Reminded of 'Jagadodharana' in Kapi'( Hindustani kapi) ragam and the Maharaja Swathi Thirunal's composition- '"Nama sudha Rasa" , say Hindustani kapi...Not Karnataka kapi !!!'Enna thavam seythane' is the the wonderful composition of erstwhile Saint like Composer - Papanasam Sivan! He used to pen krities mainly in Tamil and in sanskrit too rarely. In fact he did compose it upon getting inspired from a krti- 'Jagadodharana' by Sri Purandaradasa the Saint Composer of the past ( in kapi ragam) in Karnataka who used to write krities and bajans in kannada. Kapi' ragam ( a janya ragam of 22 nd melakarthaa ragam- Kharaharapriya) sung at the medium speed induces moods of devotion! I could see the use of kapi ragam in a Malayalam Film Song- ""Mauna sarovara maakeyunarnnu"/ in the Movie - Savidham (of 1992) in tuned in Kapi ragam and the words in lyrics are rightly assimilated to the ragas' lively flash of gamakas. The Lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, takes the credit for the same and Pranams to the soul of Jhonson master for his Music composition. Super good rendition by Chitra..... Here maestro l Subramaniam presented Kapi ..its transformation to the original kapi ( karnataka kapi* ), to the Hindustani kapi, the present Kapi ragam and towards to the likely link with few other ragams and finally back to the present kapi ragam.....This is almost like a ragamalika that can be listened ...no need to be learned !!!!
I am learning violin for last three years in western method. But I am not progressing much. Would you please arrange to teach me, Sir, in your masterclass. Your music just drives me mad. I desperately want your blessings.
