    HOLY FUCKIN' SHIT! Guys. Guys? Guys! *GUYS?!* I'm crazy excited right now. Daughters Of Mara are quite possibly one of my favorite alternative metal bands of all time, and it was a tragedy that they never even had a chance to properly release I Am Destroyer. It's such an amazing album full of raw emotion and musical talent from all involved. Shawn birthed the band and it's been great to see that he's slowly worked on new songs over the years on his own. He's shown off a few tracks in that time, and I love them. The three songs they played here are all new tracks I believe.
    I never thought I'd see these guys together again, let alone actually jam out some of those new tunes. I'm so hyped and I wanna believe this might mean they're considering reuniting and working on *NEW MUSIC* officially! But, I'm trying to chill out. That's a dream, though, seriously. I still spin I Am Destroyer all the time. These dudes deserve a second chance, under a better label/management. They're all so talented separately, and together they take it to new heights. So, I'll try and be cautiously optimistic that I might see *Daughters Of Mara back officially* in the future, and if not, I'm real stoked that I got to at least see these guys together jamming out some DOM songs Shawn came up with. Feels like old times. Thanks, dudes.

    Beyond stoked to not only hear more from Elitch but to also see him reunited with Daughters of Mara. These guys NEED to reform; their debut is easily THE best hard rock album of the mid 200's (I know it was re-released in 2018, but I have the original 2007 masters and it would've been an absolute game-changer had it came out when it should've). Amazing work all around, dudes!

    Daughters of Mara need to fully reunite and go on tour with Alter Bridge.

    • @cerebrix
      @cerebrix 2 роки тому +3

      I hope you realize how full circle that would actually be. For those that don't. Daughter's only toured once, opening for Alter Bridge. Something they did, without even having a record released yet.

      @@thegameslave2 That was never in question. Without going into a ton of stuff it's probably not ok for me to talk about anyways. I'll just say, everyone involved always knew how good it was, believed in it. But the music industry was shitty and soulless back then, and it's even worse now.

    • @thegameslave2
      @thegameslave2 2 роки тому +2

      @@cerebrix Yea, but it's also even easier to put out music yourself nowadays. Shawn started this as his own project anyway, before he brought everyone else in, and I know at least one of the songs they played were made in a similar way. My point is that they could still potentially have a better go of it this time, if they got back together.

    Hi Dave! From Québec, Canada. Your many videos inspire me to always double check that I'm not "End Goaling". Very cool concept that eventually makes drumming more natural, really.

    Wow this was fantastic and having performances from DOM was really cool! Ever since I found out about Dave about 3 years ago I’ve purchased his course and I follow just about everything that he does. There are some good teachers out there in the social media land that you definitely can learn from and I follow them as well. Dave’s approach sets worlds apart from the others! In my opinion he’s the Vinnie Colaiuta of instructors out there! He blends in on whatever he is playing and is just a huge inspiration on and off of the drums. Kids today have access to this education and if they’re not taking advantage of it shame on them. If they are wasting time on Drumeo instead of reaching out to Dave and/or buying his course they are just screwing themselves in the long run. Thanks to Vic Firth and Dave Elitch for giving everyone an opportunity to get a taste of what is out there for real drum education and not some bs snake oil program that will get you nowhere fast. I’ll be switching back to Vic Firth sticks again, the stick company I use now does nothing like this and puts too much energy into drummers that really have no career to follow except social media. 👍🏻🤙🏻

    I wish I could get 5B heavies. I’ve never seen the option on any site I order from and I think that might be something only available to artists with a VF rep. That’s why I usually buy Meinl 5B standards, they tend to be better pitch matched and denser feeling, and I don’t even play the cymbals. *Cough cough, subtle but adamant suggestion for the team over at VF, I miss playing your sticks but QC has drastically dropped ever since the Zildjian buyout, if I’m keeping it one hundy*

    Don't use a different size stick, use a different size stick...
    Also in terms of "not relaxing" when he splaying the solo at the end, you can clearly see the muscles in the neck protruding and tensing.
    His jaw was literally stuck in one positiion... how is that relaxing?!

      When you're actually playing music with a band or emotively soloing, you're going to your body in an unhealthy way - hopefully only occasionally. What's important is to know how it feels to use your body healthily so you can catch yourself and fix it in real time.
      In terms of the stick - he's suggesting to use a heavier stick in conjugation with healthier playing to produce a bigger sound. *Not* to use a heavier stick to workout your muscles in order to play faster.
