- Duchess of Hamilton left the museum today (21/11/2012), behind King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, to visit our sister museum in Shildon. It will be on display at the National Railway Museum in Shildon throughout the winter. www.nrm.org.uk/...

Ive changed my mind now i would love to see her back on the main line
I’m glad it returned to York in the end. Such a nice loco, and the historic sort of express engine that deserves a place in the true NRM.
That usually depends on how long it takes to raise money for the repair work.
I wish they’d put Duchess of Hamilton back into service
It's highly ineffecient when it runs, it may or may not also be damaged, last I heard
shame shes moved as i was planing a trip to york.Maybe shell be back when all the A4s are together.
I personally think she won't be overhalled again because one her owner pefers to keep her in the national railway museum
It would be nice to see a streamlined coronation class loco on the mainline. And as 46233 is currently operating in rebuilt form it 6229 could run in streamlined condition on the mainline.
6233 is not operating in rebuilt form. She was one of the first batch of non streamliners 6230-6234.
cheers man.
From her wiki: "with plans but no timescale to return her to steam in the future." So it might take a few years but will probably happen.
Also her owner is the NRM so I suspect that it'll be one of the next big appeals for funds after Flying Scotsman is finished and has been running a couple of years, and all the kinks sorted out.
Ive just looked on wiki and on there it says that the owner has no plans to steam her back up again
I believe it has to do with cylinder lubrication, or lack thereof, while not in steam.
I want to see how duchess of Hamilton bring to his business
Just to ask but can the dutchess of Hamilton still run without help (help of a diesel) ?
so, when would the Duchess ever go back to doing railtours?
She'll be back next year i think
why wont they run this engine?
I may be alone in this but I wish locos were maintained but left original as when they were withdrawn . like Union of South Africa . How Many people remember A4s with the valances ? What next a jet engine in the tender. Sorry the 50s were railway heaven .
The driver visibility doesn't look great. Beautiful machine though, better looking than the A4 Pacific
Brillant!. But im confused on to why shes missing her running gear?
Easier to pull without cylinder friction wearing out the cylinders....
Because network rail have something funny about steam engines that dont work have to have certain parts taken off, same with mallard and green arrow.
so when you send locos to shildon do they send one of their locos to york ?
She can be overhauled again. The money just needs to be there.
Can you elaborate please :-)) for what reason.
Its original design was prettier than this stream lined version
It's original design was streamlined.
@@williamwoolhouse3702 no it's the streamlined version search up duchess of Sutherland also I prefer the streamlined version
they could have at least sent the cavalry!
oh, that's a bit of a shame
She can't got back shes too old and her boiler ticket ran out.
Shame about the appalling weather
Its not steam worthy.
