Lol Now seriously :) Her performance and style is not something extraordinary as for Ukraine, but rather common, so, even though, sho got the highest points from the jury, people didn't vote for her, but Melovin won the televoting by far. His uniqueness and cool song was something different, and people fell in love. So, somehow, the average score between juri and tele voting brought o'Torvald upfront. And you are right about Ukraine's talent, it's the most singing nation in the world, Ukrainians live by music, and the national competition is pretty intense. Thanks for your videos!

Actually the interesting fact of the last year Ukrainian selection is that a lot of people here were joking that we didn’t vote for her bcs we were scared to win Eurovision one more time after Jamala and host Eurovision again , bcs it’s too expensive 😂 but of course that was just a jokes 😅 check also Tayana’s performance on this year’s Ukrainian selection. It’s much much better! 😊
Tayanna was jury's #1 and #3 by televote, Melovin was #1 by televote and #5 by the jury, and in the end the band, which was #2 by both jury and televote got overall the same 10 points as Tayanna and won because they received a higher score by televote. (This is the rule in Ukraine: if contenders get equal points the winner is the one with highest score from public). The band were shocked: they didn't expect to win. 🙂

This group is not stupid at all! The lyrics of their song is much deeper than Tayanna's. They just should have kept the decorations of their national performance when Yevgeny Galych was "shot". That would have had bigger impression. I'm glad that our country at least once was represented by a rock band and not female singers.
Bullshit! Rock bands suck in Eurovision, throughout the whole history of the contest I can name 2 or 3 kinda rock bands that were close to winning and 1 that actually won. this was a semi final performance. for the national final in 2017 she changed the stage and she had some fails in her voice. all above it, the group that represented ukraine that year had an on-point performance without a skull head on stage... so I think they deserved that year to represent Ukr.

I did this because their song described ukrainian inner state/spirit that time. big head was mistake, you must see ukrainan contenst with backtimer or shooting. Yes, this song is the Eurovision format. But the format never wins! Only an alternative, surprise, novelty, style, originality wins. In Ukraine, such talents are also a million :). I Love You is sooo much better than her entry this year imo and she definitely should have won last year (even though Melovin was still my fave, you should check out his 2017 national final entry *Wonder* if you haven't) The reason why she didnt win was the televote, she won the juries but only came 3rd with the televote - O Torvald got 2nd in both jury and televote and Melovin, who won the televote, came 2nd to last with the juries (undeserved tbh) So at the end there was a tie between O Torvald and Tayanna and when a tie happens, the televote result decides the winner and that's why O Torvald won :/

I think, that what has happened, is that if Tayanna enters the Eurovision 2017, she had a lot of chance to win it, and it is not acceptable, for somebody, that the same country is the winner of 2 consecutive years. And, moreover, it may be that Ukraine could not spend, again, the money for another Eurovision. Simply, it was not the right year for this song.
