I like this ending better than the manga. In the manga it only showed a modern city, implying that only a few hundred years passed and the Titan history wasn’t forgotten. So Eren and everyone fought and died for nothing because humanity couldn’t forgive Paradis. But showing a cyberpunk city is better because it means thousands or even millions of years passed and Titans have either been forgotten or become myths. So the conflict that ensued wasn’t because of Titans, it was new reason humanity made to fight each other. The manga’s epilogue told humanity doesn’t forget and we’ll be constantly fighting the same battle for the same stupid reason, and everything our characters did meant nothing. The anime’s epilogue was a bit more uplifting as it told humanity can forgive and forget and our characters sacrifices meant something but it doesn’t mean conflict itself will end as we’ll find a new reason to fight each other eventually.
So basically: 1. Eren was right all along 2. He achieved his goal: all his loved ones got their long and happy life. He never said anything about ALL of their descendants' life though... Although, I believe we only saw 2000 years into the future, like it said in the title of the first episode.

But a bunch of the stuff we read, watch, or listen to is derived from Shakespeare's works. We just finished Much Ado About Nothing in class and I could've sworn I watched some kind of highschool drama with the exact same plot just more... dramatic-
maybe next 100 years till Isayama no longer exist, cause that’s how school operate, no, it’s how the world operate, the value of art reaches to its peak when the author dies so does the same applies to education, maybe our grand or great grandchild will learn it in school 😂
When Mikasa gets flashbacks to when they were collecting wood, my heart broke. It really showed us where everything started, and brought so mucb nostalgia
Exactly, Rome was the first city to have a population of over a million in the year 133, but after successive wars and invasions where much of the population was enslaved or massacred, the population fell to as low as 20,000 by the year 500 with much of the city turned to ruins taken over by nature. Now it is the capital of Italy once again with a population of over 2 million.
Imagine if the tree where Eren buried is also the same tree who spoke about Giant and Red Dragon falls from Heaven tales. That would brings more shiver.
Ending scene gave me a thought that we are living to die when time comes and new generation will live taking over our proof. We are the one who live today.
The meanings of AOT: Sometimes your worst enemys lies within yourself Conflict may finally be resolved but a new conflict can rise Following your dreams maybe good but think about the consequences while your trying to achieve it Sometimes we blame the person we hate the most, but in the end we are also to blame because we are a part of why it may have happened Sometimes the heart of our problems can be in plain sight we just refuse to see it the way it is This may not be all the meanings but feel free to give out other meanings
Did anyone saw the lines from their eyes disappeared in the ending? I think it signifies the darkness of Humanity has reached stable peace with Eren's sacrifice.
The vast majority of people complaining about the ending are Mikasa X Eren stans ANGRY their ship didnt end well. Aot aint got time for such cliche bullshit. Also Eren became Hitler Jr genocide king, cant really redeem himself after that other than death.
@@GodhandPhemtoI think it was that, plus the manga being less clear on how long had passed before that kid entered the tree, being misinterpreted as just a few decades or something
@@matygoo1644 Yea... now that I think about it, it still isn't really clear... and I think Revo (the guy that created Linked Horizon) knew that. The last sentence at the end before Eren speaks "君は何を知る?" means "What do you think?", as if the viewer is supposed to answer this themself. Really speaks to the genius behind Revo's music and how well he *Links* AoT with his music.
Main issue was that the writer made it seem that paradise got bombed as soon as possible. Anime fixed it by clearly showing it happened generations after
If you listen to the part of when the Jeager bird fixes her scarf and flies off, Eren was singing. So you could believe that it was Eren actually visiting her.
all along, Mikasa knew that Eren will eventually die. and now it really happened. 😭😭😭 we were all hoping for a miracle, but now we're here, feeling some type of way.
The bird wrapping the scarf represents grief. The author understood grief extremely well. If you have ever lost someone very dear to you e.g. your mum, your mind plays tricks on you and you interpret little things as signs from them. This anime /manga is truly a masterpiece as so many little things were put there not by chance. (Number if flowers, colour if flowers, types)
Everything in this ending scene describes the last decades very well. We are taking firm steps towards another world war. It's just like AoT describes it: As long as there are humans the cycle of hate never ends.
So your telling me that Ymir Fritz was the girl that stumbled upon that tree just to start it all over again? What makes me wonder is who was the one who started the rumbling to start history over again into ymirs era because somebody must've caused that tree to grow there right? There must've been another person like Eren Yeager who did it before ymirs era who reset history for it to then destroy itself and start it again with ymir then the events of eren happened just for kid to stumble upon that same tree thats gonna reset history that we dont know how many times its repeated itself. I hope people read this😬 I might've overthought this😅
Yes you are right, the last scene signifies that this is a cycle and it will repeat no matter what. But we cannot figure out who started it in the first place and neither it is important to know because it was never about how, it was always about the repercussions caused by it
Nah, unless the war itself caused a reset, humans would overwhelm the titans with that tech. Remember that titans were unstoppable in ancient times, but by Eren's time titans were struggling against WW2 tech. Also, in the case of a reset there would be ruins everywhere, so highly unlikely this happened before.
The last scene always gives me goosebumps…such a tragic and beautiful ending

But a bunch of the stuff we read, watch, or listen to is derived from Shakespeare's works. We just finished Much Ado About Nothing in class and I could've sworn I watched some kind of highschool drama with the exact same plot just more... dramatic-
maybe next 100 years till Isayama no longer exist, cause that’s how school operate, no, it’s how the world operate, the value of art reaches to its peak when the author dies so does the same applies to education, maybe our grand or great grandchild will learn it in school 😂
Shakespeare ain't got nothing on Isayama.
The ending is very easy to understand of the message aot is trying to give
When Mikasa gets flashbacks to when they were collecting wood, my heart broke. It really showed us where everything started, and brought so mucb nostalgia
I guess this is the best ending that I ever seen any show...
Major nier vibes from the ending. At the end its in humans nature to destroy, survive and rebuild
Exactly! It's very similar to the ending message of Nier Automata, plus the dystopian ruins are similar too.
Imagine if the tree where Eren buried is also the same tree who spoke about Giant and Red Dragon falls from Heaven tales. That would brings more shiver.
Ending scene gave me a thought that
we are living to die when time comes and new generation will live taking over our proof.
We are the one who live today.
Eren and mikasa's va singing together made me tear up even more 🥲😭
The meanings of AOT:
Sometimes your worst enemys lies within yourself
Conflict may finally be resolved but a new conflict can rise
Following your dreams maybe good but think about the consequences while your trying to achieve it
Sometimes we blame the person we hate the most, but in the end we are also to blame because we are a part of why it may have happened
Sometimes the heart of our problems can be in plain sight we just refuse to see it the way it is
This may not be all the meanings but feel free to give out other meanings
I can't get this outta my head
Same here . Especially when Mikasa says 'u wrapped the scarf around me, thank you '.
Mikasa deserved a better ending 💔
This might actually happen in real life future
After 10 years of this series this ending is both cruel and beutiful
Did anyone saw the lines from their eyes disappeared in the ending? I think it signifies the darkness of Humanity has reached stable peace with Eren's sacrifice.
3:08 Its The Attack On 9/11!
First thing I thought when I saw it
💀
@ 2:13 Huh, I never noticed the car. Mikasa lived long enough to get cars on Paradis Island.
Aint there already a car on marley when she visit there, its probably a transferred tech
Best story of all time 💔💔
Beren: TATAKAE !!!
the ONLY ending I held my heart and cried knowing it could've never ended any other way even if I wanted to..
We truly are living it are we Guys? What a time to be alive.
Even though this was my first anime, I feel so surreal now it’s over, and the music makes me want to cry, and time goes on
Man when that bird wrapped that scarf around her neck i couldn't help but cry😭
Masterpiece
There is not a damn point that this ending does not make me cry.
The MANGA people were so WRONG... this ending it's very SPECIAL!!
WHAT A MASTERPIECE!!!
This ain't the problem. Eremika was the problem and the plotholes too
Main issue was that the writer made it seem that paradise got bombed as soon as possible. Anime fixed it by clearly showing it happened generations after
"So he was the protagonist?" - that guy thinking levi the main character
If you listen to the part of when the Jeager bird fixes her scarf and flies off, Eren was singing.
So you could believe that it was Eren actually visiting her.
all along, Mikasa knew that Eren will eventually die. and now it really happened. 😭😭😭 we were all hoping for a miracle, but now we're here, feeling some type of way.
OMFG. I just realized, Erin sitting on the tree like that… he wakes up from seeing ALL OF THIS and that starts the first episode!!!
War...War never change.
the timelapse of the years at the end is so sad and something similar might happen to us
The bird wrapping the scarf represents grief.
Rest In Peace Eren Yeager Goodbye For Now 😭😭😭😭
I watched this everyday
I was so sad but the background music makes even more sadder 😢
Everything in this ending scene describes the last decades very well. We are taking firm steps towards another world war. It's just like AoT describes it: As long as there are humans the cycle of hate never ends.
The fact we see a squiggly thing crawling ij the bottom left corner at the end scene sent chills down my spine
You mean the caterpillar...? 🐛
Good catch. Hallucigenia spoiler
I didn’t notice that little detail 😮
To you in 2000 years,From you 2000 years ago ❤❤❤
2:25 make me cry damn..
War never changes..
I hope people read this😬
I might've overthought this😅
Yes you are right, the last scene signifies that this is a cycle and it will repeat no matter what. But we cannot figure out who started it in the first place and neither it is important to know because it was never about how, it was always about the repercussions caused by it
@@rohanvatturkar1928 Thank you!
Nice overview. Sums up what I felt after finishing reading the manga years back.
A human didn't cause it, it just happened because of evolution and stuff
Nah, unless the war itself caused a reset, humans would overwhelm the titans with that tech. Remember that titans were unstoppable in ancient times, but by Eren's time titans were struggling against WW2 tech. Also, in the case of a reset there would be ruins everywhere, so highly unlikely this happened before.
