Thank you so much for your wonderful videos, Krista. You have taught me so much. I'm newly retired and I used to be an avid gardener, now I live in a condo and thanks to you and other ladies on this venue I can have a new hobby and make beautiful flower arrangements for my loved ones. God bless you for your kindness!
I worked for FTD the Flower Company and so many people HATED carnations in arrangements because they called them funeral flowers but for me they are the Most beautiful flowers I love. I prefer them to roses. This is ONE FLOWER I'm going to master. They will be all over my house in vases.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
Tried making flowers with other peoples videos but you definitely go in a little more depth as far as instructions and I really appreciate that and make it look a little easier to do!
Not only have I learned how to make this flower, I have enjoyed watching your video. The flower is beautiful and you made it look so easy.thank you so much for sharing. You are a good teacher.
Luv these!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! I can hardly wait to get to these. And, l almost threw away a large bag of Bunn Coffee filters... I'm so glad now.. yes yes! I have done Wedding flowers by hand out of plastic bags. They turned out wonderful too. If my other Son gets Married- these flowers and, other ones. Will turn out just as well, but l find these are a bit easier. Thank You for all the time as well as effort that, you've put into your Video's.
awe, thank you so much. and noooooo dont thrown out coffee filters - the big ones are great for large whimsical blooms which decorate events, parties, and gifts up soooo nicely!
Love this tutorial. Can't wait to try making carnations....I actually was looking for a peony tutorial but got interested in your carnation video. Especially the coloring process. Thanks!
I wonder if you could use this same method to make little marigolds? They look very similar except the petal edges are rounded. I'll have to experiment. TY, these are just lovely!
What a beautiful Flower and how wonderful You explain everything. Finally a Lady from Canada, my Country, who show's the world, we are also fantastic in crafting. Thank You and I am so happy to found Your Page. Greetings from Ontario.
I have watched several coffee filter tutorials on youtube and have enjoyed and learned more from yours. So beautiful and you make it very clear on how to do every step. Hope to see more coffee filter flower tutorials soon. I have watched all of the ones you have put out. Thank you. I am going to have fun and make a few myself. Wish me luck lol.
Hi you know know what I am enjoying usually people from other countries don't speak they just play music I love your flowers thank you for sharing your talents with us God Bless you and yours!!!❤❤❤
Thank you so much for these tutorials! These flowers are so beautiful and life like. And I'm sure a great stress relief to work on them too!! Blessings!! I will give these a try.
Hi Ma’am , here in Japan we don’t get the round ones rather triangular shaped filters . It would be nice of you if you can post a tutorial on that . ☺️.
Hi there...i enjoyed your video. Your flowers are beautiful...the bottom of the flower is called the calyx. I used to make silk flowers so that's how I know. Thanks again
I love your videos- great job. Wondering if you would use the glue mixture on these- or was there another way to get them not to fade? The colors are so vibrant!
You could definitely use the glue mixture in the colouring for this application . If you don't, i would suggest spraying the finished blooms with a clear coat spray varnish (semi gloss is best in my opinion) 🥰
Carnation flowers last for a long time. I love them as they are my Birth flower. Thank you for the video and your time. your Carnations turned out Beautiful.
Great question. I use food colouring because I am also an event designer and do a lot of dessert displays. The coffee filters and food colouring make these closer to food safe options around food. But also... I am a cookie artist and have food colouring READILY on hand...all the time. The gel colouring is a strong pigment and watercolours can be less pigmented depending on the brand/artist quality. :)
What would you suggest for a "luster" finish on the flowers? Would Elmer's Glue mixed with water work? I absolutely enjoy and learn so much from your tutorials. Thank you for taking the time to do these for us
Just a quick note. Wouldn’t it be easier if you glued the green cone filter together first? That way you wouldn’t have to put 2 tiny leaves together. Plus it’d be ready to cut more leaves out quickly and then just put the lines in t them.
Yes... probably. Sometimes i just go with it as i am used to from other projects lol. Typically i don't pre-glue my leaves because i will be putting thin guage wire in between the layers. This one...obviously not and I was working from habit vs what would be best hahaha 😅 🥰
Personally... i would colour just the tips or the bottoms / centers with a very (barely there) colour to make it more realistic and catch the highlighting and shadows better when completed. You can achieve this with a VERY watery colour using the food coloring (like a tan, or pink)... but you need the most minimal amount!! You could also use a really light tea instead of colour ;) good luck!!!
Because i roll and fold the wire to create a loop catch at the top for the petals that can show a little if bloom is opened up or played with after its made, i finish it with floral tape all at once instead of just the top ...then going back later with more. It also allows the petals to adhere better and thickens the stem for the petals just that much more 🥰
At 0:53min and at 5:15min ...I point to the "i" in the top right corner of your screen and if you click on that "i" button it should open up to a link. Each of those timestamps will have a different video that offers more knowledge about what I use glue in my coloring process. But its not mandatory. Just water and colour works.
Will someone please tell me why my florist tape does not stick? i have bought several brands. I stretch it but it won't hold! Anyone ever use green painters tape? TIA
Hmmm..this must be so frustrating!! Do you happen to live in a dry climate? They only thing i can think is its dried out. Otherwise, if you are stretching the tape piece as you go... that in itself will activate it. It won't be super sticky per say... but becomes sticky to itself as you wrap your stems. Try rubbing the starting edge in with your nail...or applying a small amount of glue to start it... and the rest should bond to itself as you stretch and wrap.
Thank you. And noted... I have had someone else mention something as well, although I am not sure what/where the music is coming from that the video is picking up. Will have to try and note it next time I record.
I don't know why you take pieces of tape off of the roll when you could just use it right from the roll and then you wouldn't have to worry about how long or short the pieces are it's much easier you just unroll a foot at a time and continuously use it without taking pieces off the entire roll and you're not wasting anything at the end that's what most florists do....

I have a very in depth 3 video rose series on my channel :) i hope you find it, if not let me know 🥰
Just wondering, why couldn’t you wait to add green tape at the end of adding petals?
