Finally! It's Maggie the Trail Dog time! It's been almost a year since we did this hike (yes we're slow at producing these videos and guides, I know) and I still think about Maggie all the time. The best trail buddy you could ask for. Even better than Del. We met her at the gate to Lagodekhi NP and she stuck with us for the whole 3 days, accompanying us all the way back to our guesthouse door at the end. Then I sobbed for three days. Hope you enjoy this beautiful hike, made even better by our scruffy companion 🐕 Kim
Me and my friend met you at first camping site ( 5:30 ) , we had a little nice talk and you said that you are making videos for youtube, at that time i forgot about that and 2 years later i randomly found your channel, looking at this video i just remembered that two nice strangers that we met were actually you. Thanks for making best hiking videos, especially in my country and representing our nature this well with this quality!
Hi, we remember it well… great to hear from you! That was a great hike and we miss Georgia all the time, can’t wait to come back. Glad you’re enjoying the videos, thanks!
Yeah, completely different! It was quite a unique hike due to it being a protected area for the last 100 years. She was an amazing dog, I still think about her all the time : (
I just discovered this channel, and I can't like it more. It is just what I was looking for, channels with trekking routes all over the world. Have you done the Camino de Santiago in Spain ?. I this is the third year that I am going to do it
Glad you've found us! We haven't hiked the Camino yet, looks like a wonderful route though, I'm sure it must be if you are doing it for a third time! Enjoy : ) Kim
Ah, Maggie, what a dog. She must have been so hard to leave. Maggie seemed to appreciate the shade and rest opportunities so perhaps she's getting on a bit. Thanks for the lovely video.
Nice ending with Maggie :-), she is amazing! I found that part interesting while she was sleeping and snoring (was she really!?). Great Hike, it has all the flavour - mountains, forests and the lake. Just watched it whole in one go! That Island lake was a really nicest location I would say! Excellent filming as always, although no drone footage this time (I think this must be a restricted area since nearer to the border). Looking forward to the next one, best wishes!
Yeah, she was amazing and yes she really was snoring! All natural sounds hehe. Yeah I loved 'Island Lake', I was really pleased the horse guide told us to go there. Yeah, it was a bit disappointing not to get the drone footage, but it wasn't really possible in the long forest sections, and we were with Maggie the whole time and weren't sure how she would react. Some other trail dogs really hated the drone and tried to catch it out of the sky! So in the end we just didn't use it. The drone will be back in the next video though! Thanks as always for watching and appreciating : ) Kim
I wish she was ours so badly! I still think about her all the time. But we're not in a position to adopt a dog. Yeah, she is a 'community dog', a stray basically who hangs out in the national park, gets fed by lots of different people, and seems to enjoy nothing more than accompanying hikers on their trek!
So wonderfully made by both on this 3 day stunning trek with beautiful mountains, wild flowers, and the Black Rock lake with your neat descriptions of your experiences. Thank you both! Wish you both a Very adventurous and a very Happy New Year!! Maggie was a star too, sweet dog!
Some more wonderful feedback, thank you Prabha! Maggie was definitely the star of the show, we miss her lots! All the best for a healthy and happy New Year to you too : )
Massive thanks again for another stunning upload / adventure, looks an amazing place with some stunning scenery and loved the walk-on parts by Maggie. Sadly Maggie is not the coolest dog in the world as that title is in the safe hands of my daughters dog Kylo lol, I swear this dog is cooler than Brian from family guy, we have all booked a nice cottage down in a little place in Norfolk called Winterton On Sea for September so the plan is big long adventure walks with Kylo then sampling some little pubs for food and drinks before doing it all again the very next day. Not been away in years so really looking forward to it, Kylo is in for a real treat as he truly loves the beach and being in and out the sea. Thanks again folks.
Hey Gary, you’re very welcome. Thanks for all the support and we’re really glad you enjoyed it. Maggie made such a great addition to the adventure... who knows if we’ll ever have a trail companion like it again? Your trip sounds super relaxing, and Kylo sounds like a great dog too. Cooler than Bryan from Family Guy!? That is something! Anyway it all sounds like good times to really look forward to. Thanks again and all the best.
Thanks a lot Chris. You have to reserve and pay for a bed in the mountain huts at the visitor centre by the park entrance. I’m sure you can book it in advance by calling them beforehand… they are extremely helpful. It was 20 GEL per person but that may have changed. Although we stayed in the huts, if we hiked the trail again we’d take our tent and camp outside the huts (5 GEL per person) as it just gives you a bit more peace and privacy, but it depends what you prefer. Camping elsewhere isn’t allowed unfortunately.
@@GoingTheWholeHogg Ah thank you for such a prompt and helpful response! On your advice I think we'll take our tent, it's so much nicer anyway :). We travel in a couple of weeks, so I will let you know how it goes. I'll keep my eyes out for Maggie too!
Thanks! It's a huge climb of over 2100 metres to Demidovi's hut if you do it in reverse, so it's best to go anti-clockwise and go to Meteo Shelter first I would say. Enjoy! Hope you see Maggie 🤞🏻
@@GoingTheWholeHogg I just finished the hike in 1 night… it was pure torture. Thousands of flies & anticlamatic & the huts were disgusting!! Your video made it look nicer but I’d rate it the worst hike in Georgia. But thanks for all the info..you guys are the best!!!
Ouch!! That must’ve been tough. And a shame you didn’t enjoy it. Yeah, the huts aren’t the cleanest and some people aren’t great at packing out their rubbish. We’d heard beforehand about flies because of a lot of horseshit on the trail but it wasn’t bad for us… maybe the conditions are different this year. Oh well, on to the next one!

Espectacular Georgia....and very good documental...lovely Maggie....
Thanks Diego! Yeah, she was the best : )
That’s such a different landscape from previous videos. Very lush. I would have had a very tough time saying goodbye to Maggie. What a good dog.

I love the song to Maggie at the end! What a lovely hike; thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Gina! I'm not very tuneful, ha. It's a beautiful hike indeed, glad you enjoyed it : )
Love your videos , the coming nature and the talky bit at the end , think I would have wanted to bring Maggie home
Yeah, I absolutely wanted to take Maggie home! Thanks for watching and glad to hear you enjoy the videos : )

Yeah, it was super hard to say goodbye! I still think about her all the time and that was about 1 year ago we hiked with her. Best trail buddy ever!
Gorgeous views 😍
Yeah, it was really gorgeous!
This is what I call perfection
Simply amazing
Thanks Guram! Very glad to hear you think so : )
@@GoingTheWholeHogg Please do more videos with similar "silent hiking". I just love it.

Oh Maggie is not yours? 😥🐶 She was delightful! So it seems dogs on their own is common in your area? Absolutely loved this hike!

Great video ! Really enjoyed it!
What are the tablets which you added to the water?
Thank you, Davit! Glad you enjoyed it. We use electrolyte tablets from a company called SIS, to replenish our electrolytes in hot, sweaty weather.
Thanks for your reply! I was thinking to start using the same supplement.
@@Dkhijakadze Yeah it works great!
Fantastic video - do you need to book the huts? We're wondering whether to take a tent or use the huts. Don't want to be left out in the cold! :)

Great, that sounds like the best choice. Good luck and yes, let us know if you run into Maggie 😃
Have you guys hiked Udziro lake too in Racha?
Not yet, but hoping to soon!
What are you stirring around in your water bottle?
It's a Steripen to sterilise the water
