If u still remember why Ushijima disappointed in Hinata back in Season 3, when Hinata stole the ball from him in Season 2 Episode 1 he was expecting Hinata to be an amazing small player like Hoshiumi. (p.s its never said if it was Hoshiumi or not but Ushijima said 'like other small yet talented player i've met') Thats why he disappointed because at this point Hinata still lacks a lot compared to Hoshiumi who is very well rounded player & one of the best player in the tournament.
Yeah you guys are right Hoshiumi is way far ahead of Hinata right now and I think a big testament to that are the positions they play. During his montage you can hear Hoshiumi call out "Left, Left" - meaning he plays Outside Hitter, the same position as Asahi. This means he is the one who does serve receive (whereas Middle Blockers are kept out of serve receive), and hits on the wings, which is more difficult than hitting the balls Hinata gets because Hinata has an exceptional (and bullshit) setter in Kageyama - Hinata doesn't really have to do much he scores based on Kageyama's speed and accuracy more than anything. And even has a Middle Blocker we've never seen Hinata actually block anyone, in fact his blocking is quite abysmal he only really gets one-touches on occasion and thats about it. Hinata can only really serve over the net whereas Hoshiumi has a devastating serve. Basically, Hinata is outmached in every category
