Those are my favorites too. Get a graded coin, you won't be disappointed. Just shop around because prices will vary for the same year, mint and grade. I say to get the graded ones because the sheen of an uncirculated gold piece really comes through and it's really something. Nothing wrong with an ungraded piece but forgeries exist. Buy from a legit source and you'll be okay.
I like the pre 1933 coins as well. I have a $20.00 Liberty Double eagle, my absolute favorite beside the gold Buffalo. Today I ordered some silver dollars, Morgans and Peace dollars and a gold $5.00 liberty eagle.

Pre-33 American gold coins are my favorite bullion. I do love the old sovereign nation gold coins (not only british) as well. All have the history and gold content. It's not 999 but who cares they are much more interesting and we're circulated which modern bullion is not.
I find when you consider the premiums on fractional gold eagles you can get pre 33 for nearly the same cost. Granted we are not talking MS state coins.
why not start now? even if the price goes down you still have an asset that you can keep for a long time that will most likely go back up because the dollar always goes down in value.
1/4 oz. is under the $600 price point, and common $5 Liberty coins from 1890-1907 should cost the same premium as modern fractional gold Eagles AT MOST; especially in circulated condition. Though I strongly recommend a base of Eagles (fractional or full) or Buffaloes with a small amount of variety; for ease of trading when the time comes.
Great Video. Enjoyed watching this video and it makes me enjoy collecting Pre 1933 gold coins even more and the history behind these coins. Been collecting pre 33 gold coins since my mid twenties. Many common date Liberty $10 and $20 cost the same premium as 1/2 ozt and 1 ozt. modern gold Eagles; any of those in circulated condition definitely shouldn't have a higher premium. It is about 3% less weight in exchange for the historical punch.
I quite like the Indian head design and I might get a coin for the stack at some point but I prefer the modern bullion like Buffalo over pre 33 personally. I appreciate the history isn't the same but I like sovereigns for that. Stunning collection you have 👌🏽
just got into coin collecting after being gifted a silver eagle a couple years ago and just recently finding it again, already have some junk silver a morgan and peace dollar and two pieces of pre 33 so far one from lcs 1$ 1852 and a 1914 2.50$ indian i bought from apmex. ill probly only buy the pre 33 gold maybe a 1/10th oounce coin sometime but i like the history and like you said now i like the fact its usa gold from california or alaska probably.
Are you talking a trade? Gold buffalo for AU pre 33? A few years ago, AU pre 33 sold for melt, the value of the gold in the coin. Now premiums are extremely high. It depends on the rarity of the pre 33 for me, but I would advise against it, UNLESS you really want the pre 33 and it's coming from a trusted source. I'm actually releasing a video tomorrow on this topic. Hopefully it adds more that I can't include in this comment.
@@CampbellsCoins I thought it would be cool to collect some pre 33 coins as bullion but it turns out that they have pretty high premiums for that purpose. So I think I'm just going to stick to eagles and buffaloes and maples etc.
You say if you are just wanting to stack gold - not to go with pre-1933 - if one wants to have gold as an insurance policy - what would be the most cost-effective way to do this? thanks
Unlike bullion gold, where everybody knows the spot value, coin dealers grading pre 33 coins are subjective to valuation, which makes it more of a guessing game selling them.
Changing the coins surface (polishing, cleaning, anything) is considered to harm the conductibility of any coin and people do that to pre-33 a lot. Also holes, deep scratches, dinged rims, etc., same result. A genuine coin with original surface and no problems is collectible regardless of wear, though except for key dates its dollar value is likely tied to gold content. The Indian designs currently have higher collector premiums than the earlier Liberty designs.
Best spot is your local coin shop. The one I use, Avenue Coin is excellent. You can find them here:avenuecoininc.com/ Give them a call during the weekday, they can sort you out.
Nice content but for me, the background music is very distracting making hearing and comprehension more difficult. If you keep it, lower the volume please. Pre-1933 St. Gaudens is my favorite gold to collect.
It would be great if the US were a leader, not a follower. Mint the same denomination as pre33, with the same weights. Keep the St. Gaudens for the $20, bring back the Indian for the $10 and $5, and the classic liberty head for the 2 1/2 Pipe dream I know…
Excellent, very informative video! I only have two pre-33 gold coins in my stack: one St. Gaudens double-eagle and one Liberty double-eagle. I'd like to have more! Many common date Liberty $10 and $20 cost the same premium as 1/2 ozt and 1 ozt. modern gold Eagles; any of those in circulated condition definitely shouldn't have a higher premium. It is about 3% less weight in exchange for the historical punch.
Good stuff
Love pre 33 have a 3 dollar indian princess most of the others love peace dollars also
I quite like the Indian head design and I might get a coin for the stack at some point but I prefer the modern bullion like Buffalo over pre 33 personally. I appreciate the history isn't the same but I like sovereigns for that. Stunning collection you have 👌🏽
Fair enough! I get the appeal with modern bullion. Plus it certainly is a heck of a lot cheaper haha.
@@CampbellsCoins Haha yeah history has a price it seems
just got into coin collecting after being gifted a silver eagle a couple years ago and just recently finding it again, already have some junk silver a morgan and peace dollar and two pieces of pre 33 so far one from lcs 1$ 1852 and a 1914 2.50$ indian i bought from apmex. ill probly only buy the pre 33 gold maybe a 1/10th oounce coin sometime but i like the history and like you said now i like the fact its usa gold from california or alaska probably.
New sub here. Are the major coin dealers just drop shippers or do they have inventory ?
They have inventory. Appreciate your support!
is +/- $100 over a gold eagle/buffalo for a AU pre-33 coin a fair value? I have not idea what historical premiums have been on pre-33 double eagles
@@QuadTap Good choice. Pre33 should be collected as collector pieces. Get it as bullion when it's cheaper.
You say if you are just wanting to stack gold - not to go with pre-1933 - if one wants to have gold as an insurance policy - what would be the most cost-effective way to do this? thanks
Bullion. Most bang for the dollar.
@@CampbellsCoins thanks
Unlike bullion gold, where everybody knows the spot value, coin dealers grading pre 33 coins are subjective to valuation, which makes it more of a guessing game selling them.
I have 67 graded pre 1933 st gaudens and liberty head $20 gold coins. I am afraid of getting scammed when i sell even after watching your videos lol.
Pre 33 gold is my jam, my jelly. The whole 🥪
Are they all considered collectible regardless of condition?
Changing the coins surface (polishing, cleaning, anything) is considered to harm the conductibility of any coin and people do that to pre-33 a lot. Also holes, deep scratches, dinged rims, etc., same result. A genuine coin with original surface and no problems is collectible regardless of wear, though except for key dates its dollar value is likely tied to gold content. The Indian designs currently have higher collector premiums than the earlier Liberty designs.
There's actually a old gold 24k gold standing liberty coin..
Is it a regular production coin or some special release?
@@CampbellsCoins I think there Standing Liberty 2016 Centennial Gold Coin those look cool also but I don't think there pre33
@@betod3113 That's correct.
Nothing more beautiful than looking at real money that has real value. Rather than the worthless fiat paper of today.
I'm loving the soundtrack😎
Thanks Gin! Some don't like it, some do and that's okay. Great hearing input from everyone! Appreciate it!
I love pre 2024 metal 🤔
👍
How do you find out the low survivability?
I'm a new subscriber, how do we collect gold coins for a SHTF scenario?
Best spot is your local coin shop. The one I use, Avenue Coin is excellent. You can find them here:avenuecoininc.com/ Give them a call during the weekday, they can sort you out.
I wanted to ask if you are interested in buying any copy1933 golf double eagle $20 coins?? I found one. Please let me know a thank you
Appreciate you thinking of me, but no thanks.
I like stacking any gold sovereigns
What is the left bottom called?
even damaged American pre 33 gold coins command a premium now
Pronounced letters of (Mark).
Nice content but for me, the background music is very distracting making hearing and comprehension more difficult. If you keep it, lower the volume please. Pre-1933 St. Gaudens is my favorite gold to collect.
Pre 33 is the only gold to me. Premiums and all lol
It would be great if the US were a leader, not a follower. Mint the same denomination as pre33, with the same weights. Keep the St. Gaudens for the $20, bring back the Indian for the $10 and $5, and the classic liberty head for the 2 1/2
Pipe dream I know…
A wonderful pipe dream. It would be great.
I would much like to hear this video without the distracting tunes. 😬
Excellent, very informative video! I only have two pre-33 gold coins in my stack: one St. Gaudens double-eagle and one Liberty double-eagle. I'd like to have more! I don't know what happened with the horrible, repetitive music track, but the content was good enough that I stuck it out. Please don't do that again!
Thanks for sharing!
I love the grounded reality of this channel..I believe < that the inflation is already priced in crypto market since the end of last year. These manipulative rats are always 2 steps ahead of everybody because they are market makers. I hope I’m wrong and they won’t keep dumping it on retail investors as always. Those who hold the longest will profit the most, I trade and hold profits keep up the great work! and also Romet Eno has been doing a great job reviewing all chart, trade and techniques on BTC which has enhance the growth of my portfolio to 20 BTC lately.
I'm so eager for coinbase to release my coin so I can join, This is a 100% tested, my cousin just knew about crypto last month, and already making huge proflts like a bitcoin Pro Just because he's trading with Romet program.
On the search for a $10 Liberty
Find me on Instagram, I can point you in the right direction. Your LCS would probably have one.
The music is a little distracting.
Thanks for the input! That's really helpful and I'll do better next time. :)
