I'm a firm believer in chores. It keeps them out of trouble and prepares them for life. It doesn't hurt little boys to do dishes once in a while either. Wyatt will grow up to be a responsible young man. Good job parents!

Love the lengthy updates lately! I suggest mulching your beds with unsprayed straw as the splashing of dirt on the leaves can cause many diseases to settle. It also looks like your beds are draining slow and can really use the organic matter. Happy to chat further as I've been growing food for over 20 years. I started conventional and now grow organic which is way easier and less work. Happy gardening!

Hey guys 🐓 the new alarm clock has arrived 😁😁. Wyatt it's good to see you helping Dad. Soon the chicken coup yard will need to be raked but it's pretty easy. My sister and I had to do it too.... 👭. Besides you have a big oh yard. We just had a small area and had to get on our hands and kneed. We had Banny Chickens. Couldn't have a big chicken run in the city 🤭🤭🤭. It will be real fun helping harvest the garden with Momma too. You are a very lucky young man to have such beautiful part of our country to grow up in. Enjoy it sweetie. Anthony and Roxan y'all are doing such an amazing job. It's hard work for sure but the results are going to be so rewarding. Because you made it all happen... Stay well and be safe .. 🙏 ❤️

Adding bedding straw around your plants will keep the moisture in and the dirt off. Dirt sometimes causes plant disease. It will also add organic material to soil as it breaks down. Everything is looking good.

Hiya Roxanne! I wanted to let you know that onion is going to flower and then produce seeds! Onions are a bi-annual plant which means they only produce seeds every other year so for your future onions, you may want to let the top go to seed so you can save them for replanting.
Love watching your garden grow as much as I love watching mine! It's so worth eating healthier, fresher foods!

I would recommend placing a clean out at the start of the main run accessible from out of the crawl space or whatever you are calling the area under the house, that way if you have a blockage in the main you won't have to pull a toilet up and less mess. Ran enough plumbing in my life possible fixing to do more on a new house.

Hi guys! Exciting to hear the first crow of your own rooster, isnt it! Soon there be eggs!!! Roxanne the onion that you have in the garden - thats not a seed pod, its the flower about to pop and it is beautiful! Let it go all the way and let it dry then you will have new seeds for next year!! And since the onion grew on your place the seeds for next year onions are already some acclimated to your growing conditions! Hey it wont be long till you guys be moving in! You are so far already! Great teamwork you two!! God bless!!

Hi Roxane, yes the flower head is beautiful and as it dries either put a paper bag over it and tie it to the stem so that it can collect the seeds or use some tight netting around it to collect the seeds since you get a lot of rain!

we had chores at Wyatt's age, my parents wanted us to be able to be able to take care of ourselves....i know people who did't know how to do their own laundry when the went to COLLEGE!!!! and I'm talking modern washer and dryer not the wringer style we had growing up!! I started cooking at 10 years old, I have the very cast iron skillet I was taught with, mama told me that she was taught using that skillet as was her mama and grandmama, what a lovely thing to hear, from then on it was my skillet....still use it today.....since my grandma got married around the early 19teens I can't even imagine the exact age, it really doesn't matter, it is full of love, that is all that matters....wyatt will grow up feeling empowered, brave enough to try things, and self-confident, ....at least that is my opinion...

Cut that flower off if you want a larger onion.. remove dirt from the top of onion.. and I've seen that onions do best even planted with peppers and tomatoes, don't know why.
If you don't want to cut the flower then just let it bloom.. I've done that, I think they are pretty. And maybe even try to seed save when flower goes to seen.. the onion base will still be good.

Considering you haven't been able to really amend that soil, the garden is doing well. Get compost amendment from the chickens for the spring of 2023 (and better drainage for next year as a result), and you'll be rocking! There is nothing nicer than reaping the rewards of your labour, especially the first time it happens. I have found that feeling of accomplishment never goes away when growing food. It's such a special thing to do.
Here in the UK we've had a bit of rain recently as well, but for the most part it's stayed warm. My carer and I were out there this morning thinning out some carrots and planting a second round of potatoes. Even the cat enjoys joining in the fun.
For any delicate plants I bought some cloches that fit over my containers, and they've helped enormously.

To help your tomatoes grow even better, you have room to add more soil around the plants., so give your tomato plants more soil. The plants will make roots in the new soil, which will provide more nutrients and aid the growing. Anywhere the plants touch soil, there can be new roots growing. If you even mound it a bit around the plants as they get taller, it will keep water from pooling directly on the stems, but will direct it to the spreading roots. You'll certainly enjoy the fruit of your labor even more.

When you start suckering the tomatoes, plant 🌱 the suckers. You will be surprised how many tomato 🍅 plants you will end up with. Just be sure to put at least half if not more of the sucker in the ground. It will make a stronger root system for your plant. Also trim the leaves off that touch the ground. Keep up the great videos.
