      Absolutely! I don't know how they do it! Perseverance..dedication... youth plays a part. When you're young, the world's your oyster. I'm old and retired, and still bike a fair amount, and long for a road trip. But I'll settle for watching this channel.. Thank you, Maudi & Eric.

    Nice video, I'm Dutch and use only the bicycle as my way of transport.
    I tour around in our nature mostly, and the funny part is that there is a lot more water and submerged nature this year.
    Actually that makes it more fun, because these submerged areas look sometimes completely different.

    Dear Eric and Maudi, Thank you for this feedback on your incredible travels! I admit that I am stuck with these distant lands without trees on major truck roads and with a lot of wind. It’s so absurd that we can’t just travel in helium/hydrogen airships. Yet it was such an effective way to travel the world in communion with traveling birds. I hope that it will come back one day because the planes stole our silence. Have you ever considered traveling with donkeys? It requires good preparation, certainly time to find donkeys with whom you have affinities, but it is certainly less tiring to walk without having to carry anything. I find it interesting these traveling readers who return to historical stories of regions to find traces and testimonies of the past. Happy Sunday and looking forward to hearing from you^^

    • @WheelstoWander
      @WheelstoWander  7 місяців тому +1

      You have some interesting perspectives on travel. What a great world it would be with silence... or everything by bike 😉 We knew a guy who traveled with a donkey but it never really was our thing. We like doing things by ourselves. I heard this story of a famous arctic explorer who left some stuff deep out in Antarctica. Only to be found many many decades later by explorers who read that account of him leaving things behind in his book. They said it was an eerie and amazing step back into time... Thanks & Tailwinds 🍀

    Amazing content! So amazing to see that you are welcomed around the world for greeting people. Unfortunately what it made me think is, how people react to greetings very poorly in Europe, when given by sb with darker skin. Something that I still can't get used to is to see a local in Germany, having sweet conversations with my white friends, yet not even looking at me in the eye, despite my whole effort to show courtesy (in fluent German).
    Just wanted to share...

      If the trip is really long I suggest starting slow and let your body acclimatise to the rigours of bicycle touring. Before hand you can ride 3 times a week for about 10 miles to let the body get reacquainted to cycling. Doing other physical work / training and stretching will also benefit getting in shape for on and off the bike activities. All the best and have fun!

    Hi guys, I need your advice and badly! I am almost 50 years old, am in very good shape, and lecture at a university in Poland. I am an introvert. I find it quite easy to learn languages. I don't have a family or any long-term commitments. I want to quit my job and travel by bicycle for the rest of my hopefully long life. I have the necessary equipment and some experience in bicycle touring. Please advise me, how on earth to finance such a journey? I think I need about 400-450 euros per month. Can someone share knowledge on how to secure such an income for the next, say, 10-15 years? Is it even possible?

      Hey my friend, I’m 23 and also dream of spending a lot of time travelling but have the same question about money. In my experience so far the best way to travel has been working seasonally and saving hard to find the next couple months. No long term commitments and often decent pay. I realize you’re in a very different financial situation but maybe that would help. I also reduce travel costs using apps like Couchsurfing and Workaway for temporary accommodations and food. Cheers, I hope you get a better answer and have a blast!

    Outstanding, once again. On that terrorist murder: I suspected that may have been some fake BS written by the see-eye-aye. Or even an A.I bot . What the kid alledgedly wrote in his log book before was quite odd , and the blurry video footage of the attack. Pretty sure that was during covid, when fear mongering was at an all time high, and people were jumping on bikes everywhere... The other story of the guy in France on the lake was far more believable. On another note, on saddle positioning, lately I'ven been looking more at stem length (reach) to possibly cure that short or long saddle position issue (pelvic tilt angle) we both have . I've noticed that on my latest build. But I might just adapt to it. Still tweaking...Onward!

    • @WheelstoWander
      @WheelstoWander  7 місяців тому +1

      Thank you Robert! This actually happened in 2018. We had contact with one of them through Instagram before this horrible event. Really tragic! Stem length (and height) are important factors for sitting comfortably. I often use my fists to get a bit more offset. My stem is so unusual that tweaking it even more is kind of impossible. Tailwinds!

    • @SonnyDarvish
      @SonnyDarvish 7 місяців тому +2

      Every information applies, only thing is your planning would change towards how to charge up the battery along the way.
      There are a few ebikes you could pick specifically for long travels. Kona E-Worldtraveller being one of the top bikes.
      If you could use hotels and hostels, then you're probably going to be just fine. But for remote areas, it's worth bringing spare batteries and foldable solar panels.
      A 100w panel is around 2kg. To facilitate the charge, you would need a solar charging station, which can be around 5kg. Since you're on the move, the battery type would be safer if it's LiFePO4. Calculating how many hours it would take to charge up is basic math. For example, with two 100w panels, assuming they could produce 150w in total, it would take 3.5 hours to fill up a 500 watt hour battery. Nothing is ever 100% efficient.
      Also, as you ride along for a few days, you will start learning how to preserve the battery to minimize the concern of recharging. Number one reason to use the motor is for steep climbs, but maybe not use the max power all the time.
