OMG!! I was listening to a Ladysmith Black Mambazo playlist and Neria came on with Oliver Mtukudzi. Something about his voice was familiar to me. And so down the rabbit hole of the internet I went. The moment I landed here and heard the first few beats it all clicked in place. Somewhere in my collection of cassette tapes is a copy of one of his albums from the 1980s which we used play a lot. Thirty plus years later I get to enjoy and once again appreciate this dynamic musician and his music. I also believe I saw his movie Jit. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!
Samanyanga had an extraordinary discography, I have been a hard core loyal fan of Tuku Music for decades and yet Iam hearing some songs for the very first time. "Unenge paneni" is a masterpiece.
