  • A hot, but breezy early summer weekend out on yacht Harley Quinn. Brightlingsea - Yokesfleet - Pyefleet - Brightlingsea. Very breezy conditions with wind over tide saw some rough seas & anchorages but still an enjoyable experience. Took the advantage of late start on last day of giving the boat a good clean as as you can see in the first part of the video their is a major bird poop problem. Will have to construct a bird scarer for the boom. The hot sun saw me with mild sunstroke so will have to learn from that for the future.

Fantastic. My old home waters Potton creek, River Roach. Moved over to Kent now but hope to revisit soon.....just bought a Leisure 20 sailboat but will have to wait for calm weather. Crossing Sea Reach can be a bit rough.
Ps. Could that little bit of uncharted land you saw be what we called Man Made Island? If it is, it was built in the 1960s I believe and was a trial to see how it would stand up for the then planned Maplin airport...long before Boris thought of it. Keep the sailing vids coming. It gives me something to dream about until mine becomes a reality 👍

Yet to go over the Thames to the Swale & Medway but plan to eventually. The wind wasn't in the best place for anchoring in Yokefleet too be honest, should have stayed in Roach and had better wind protection. Will be plenty of videos in time. I'm not a fan of sailing in the school summer holidays too be honest, prefer it a bit quieter.

a braver man than me andy - and I grew up in bsea but was always weary of the water ! @ 1:33 if that was an aircraft (real or model) then that would be classed as a very near miss - lol, pity about the wind noise m8, how about a clip on microphone with wind shield recording onto a digital device then mute the go pro when you edit the sound onto your video - make it more pleasurable for viewers, do you leave nav lights on when you go to sleep at night in case some twat runs into you ? how are your legs now m8 ? I got caught out with the sun while flying at a country show in Suffolk over the weekend but not heatstroke just burnt to hell - forgot suntan oil - duhhhh, surprised theres not more peeps out in boats doing the same thing - did you speak to your neighbours m8 ?

Lol, the boat is far more capable than me in a rough sea. Theirs a few of these that have gone across the Atlantic to the caribbean. Did think about a seperate recording device for speech. Will see how the go pro muff works out when it arrives. That wasn't that close bearing in mind it's pretty slow so you have a good time to react, you should see them when their racing round the cans!! The light on at night are anchor light at the masthead which is a requirement. I also added the coachroof marker lights to add visibility as their have been some cases where boats have been hit as the mast light is out of the viewers eye as too high. Also have 3M reflective stripes down sides which show up well as you can see the red in the picture. You can see the sunburn on my head as the video progresses, no excuse really as have hat on board!

@@AndysEastCoastAdventures whats the average depth of water beneath the keel andy as you were crossing the water to the crouch ?

@@tbobborap1 20-30ft once a couple of miles out. 8ft across the Ray sands channel at high tide. Very shallow waters around this way apart from the odd deep holes. Google navionics Web app and you can see the charts.

Andy, You'll drastically increase your subscriber count if you sort your exterior sound quality problem.. Rode lavalier) Great video otherwise.
