    Amazing that the GHM is only a category 3 Hyatt! We stayed extensively at University of Illinois Champaign Hyatt Place and that was a category 3 but nothing like the GHM. When we travel to Manila the GHM is my home base in BGC; I love the 57th floor Club and facilities. When you get back to the Philippines try visiting Tagaytay; we stayed at the Anya when it was affiliated with Hyatt last April. Climate in Tagaytay reminds me of Hawaii without the insane costs; we're building a winter home there. Love your videos!

    Rob and Allie, I'm so glad you got to the Philippines and now better understand its charm and amazing affordability! And, yes, English is spoken there!! I just discovered your channel a week or two ago, and I've probably binge-watched 40 or 50 of them. I also purchased your UA-cam kit, and I'm going to pursue that. I have been married to a Filipina for almost 10 years and I am way too old to retire young, Ha! 😊 But she is still quite young! I've actually had many adventures in my life, including a bicycle trip from Michigan to LA Paz, Bolivia in my early 20s, and also bicycling back and forth across America twice when I was 62! However, although many people would say I am way too old to consider full-time slow travel or spending more time in the Philippines, I am planning on doing exactly that. I figure if I am able to live a healthy life into my 80s, I might as well enjoy it there. I wish I knew what you know back when I was in my forties, but I accept all that is and look forward to all that is to come. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your videos! I'm so glad this has been successful for you. You both are entertaining, very informational - and REAL! I know that you have given people a chance to understand that there are a variety of options that would provide a much higher quality of life if they only knew the affordable options. I will be back in touch with you both! Keep up the good work! 🎉

    Good morning from Chicago. As a person who rates hotels on their fitness facility, this is hotel is a 10 for me. Also love that the amenities are separated by female and male because a woman can't take her top off in a coed sauna! Thanks Allie

    LOVE LOVE LOVE the scorecard review! You're constantly improving your channels!
    I'm headed to the Philippines in May 2025 for ~3 weeks and was planning on using IHG points. But based on your video I'm now going to split my stay between IHG and Hyatt! Thanks so much for all the info you provide across all your channels!

    What a beautiful hotel and room. We have yet to stay at a Grand Hyatt. It seems like an upscale version of a Hyatt Regency. Love the Club Lounge and pool/spa area too. Such a great value at 12K points/night. Congratulations on earning Globalist! The full service Hyatt hotels usually have great breakfast.

    Loooove, love, love the scoreboard at the end. It's so funny, I had just put the Grand Hyatt Manilla on my list (hubby and I are Hyatt babies), and here you are doing a video of it.😀 Thank you, thank you! What camera were you holding for this? thank you for this honest review. I am off to Manila early in the new year (2025) and the bit you said about the pillow and the bed really resonated with me. I need pillows that are extra firm - same thing with the bed. I am going to send a quick request to the hotel and ask them if they can accommodate me with at least extra firm pillows (fingers crossed).

    One thing that might help with room upgrades is that before I check in at the front desk, I look at the availability online to see if there are standard suites available for the dates I’m staying. If there are availability, I asked front desk very nicely to upgrade me to standard suite. If they say no, then I show them the availability online. They are suppose to give it to you especially if you are using guest of honor certificate. Some people working at front desk of Hyatt hotels don’t necessary always know the rules. If they still say no, then usually I’ll ask for the manager. Eventually you get your standard suite 😊
    And always go to the world of Hyatt line if available, people working there tends to know the rules better

    I'm guessing they assign a person each shift to guests. When I stayed at a Sandals resort that's what happened. I never realized it until later but we had the same man always attentive to us. As soon as I sat down for breakfast, for example, he would put a napkin in my lap. We never saw him watching us but as soon as it seemed we needed something he would appear.

    I recommend staying at Shangri-La at the Fort. It is my go-to hotel every time my family and I visit the Philippines. I think they have a much better service and offerings than your standard Grand Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriot hotels.

    • @justsmy5677
      @justsmy5677 6 місяців тому

      But can you stay at the Shangri-La on points for the equivalent of something like $54? If you are slow traveling, that makes a difference. A person needs to build points/loyalty with one or two brands in order to slow travel and take advantage of the points benefits.

    • @Islandboy1900
      @Islandboy1900 6 місяців тому +2

      @@justsmy5677that’s the only caveat. I don’t believe they have a points system but I could be wrong. The cost difference is very wide. Your approach is the best way for long term stay and value. Hope you enjoy Manila and the neighboring provinces!
