Classic game & goes for a pretty penny these days too on ebay! I loved seeing the old driving quiz scenes again - I probably touched on this anecdote on a previous Games-X magazine video but in a nutshell I got away with playing this game well past my bedtime because I told my mam that we were learning about driving at school the following day and it would be a good idea if I went into the lesson one step ahead. So yeah, a cheeky extra hour of Supercars 2 for me on that early 90's night! :)
I prefer the handling and driving physics in this version, but you're right, the TV announcers add a lot of colour to the original. I remember the music being better, too.
Yes, someone tell UA-cam that the Internet is built on its inter connectivity. It's called the interNET for Pete's sake. Thanks for the link though! The BBC Micro's bleeps version will always be the definitive one as far as I'm concerned, I wonder if there is a Beeb version of the Pink Panther tune?
I didn't realise it was getting pricey. Lucky I have a nice boxed copy in my collection already, there is no way I will pay over a tenner for any game. (Except maybe that sealed Projectyle, I could be tempted by that) We've spun a yarn about computers helping us to do homework to persuade our parents to get us a micro, but 'Super Cars 2 helps me learn about driving'? That takes the biscuit. You rapscallion! You whippersnapper!
While SC2 was always the better all around game, I always preferred the setting (with the TV crew) and even the driving of the first game. I never finished either game, but I did alright for a stupid kid back in the day lol.
It does look dark, but I don't think that detracts from it too much. Everything is still very well drawn. You are spot on about the barriers; no idea why, because the stone walls from the later courses seem fine.
Awesome game, used to play it so much (with my brother and friends) on my Amiga 500 back in the day.
Love your videos :)
Thanks laffer, most appreciated. I'm happy that I can reawaken these old memories for people.

Very entertaining, nice to have you back.
Wow this brings back childhood memories. Thanks!
You are most welcome!

I'll probably give that a play-through in the next couple of days, so I can do a direct comparison. Thanks for watching!
I still kind of have fonder memories of the first Super Cars, don't really know why!
Cheers, mate! Nice to *be* back.

That's a pretty good synopsis, right there. If only it had the same theme tune. Dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-duuuuuuun-duun...

Was it Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge? That was developed by Magnetic Fields too.
I played this quite a on on Amiga back in the day :)

Never got into this sequel, why did they make it look so dull and dark? That barrier collision too, ooof.

Ha ha! I was just getting warmed up in this vid. Now I'm like Ayrton Sendup on speed.
All the menu stuff reminds me of another game -- is it Lotus?
Yes, it was coded by the same people!
You are most welcome!
Hmm Mainsail was in another game too....
How do the two versions shape up? Does the Amiga version have smoother scrolling, I wonder.
