You can't be serious. Both men were raised by immature women. They murdered him and got off cause it was a blk man. I don't agree with him hitting her but her initiating a murder is too wrong. We are grown women making childish decisions the their kids repeat the process. Many of you are actually applauding this murder. Mostly women. Satan really does rule our community.

I am from Chicago. Unfortunately, not talking or walking away doesn't guarantee not getting attacked. I guy just randomly walked up in my face and thought he was going to rub up on me. I pushed him off of me and he act like he was about to hit me and I was lucky that the guy that came in with him told him not to do that. But that's just one story. 😔 I'm a Black woman and I am sick of this mess.

Grown men stood around while a man beat hear with haymaker punches. Her son stepped up when the so-called men did not. And you right, I am moving out of Chicago (trying to sell my condo) because that is the mentality there. I have no protection there. I'm not from there, even though I have lived there for 30 years. And my mother, in all of her eldership, told me that I needed to come home.

And his girlfriend is the perfect example of why people are afraid to get involved. If you see him beating her in public and you intervene and say you 💀 him she will lie on you. Which is what she did. And we know that he beats her. Then she's encouraging him to assault this woman in the restaurant. So we suggest to women to get a weapon and protect THEMSELVES

Hi Fumi, I wanted to recount my story as this also happened to me. My father was outside cleaning the cars and my brother's car was parked outside of the house but in the front side walk. Some hoodlums were terrorizing the neighborhood and decided to start beating on random cars, one which was my brother's car was getting vandalized. My father of course, as a dad would said hey, please don't hit that car it's my son's car. One of the hoodlums started to beat my dad and my dad which was handicapped fell on the floor right away. I was the only one in the house and I heard my dad saying stop, my dad is handicapped and could barely walk. I tell you! I went red! I did not think. I was cooking and had the largest butcher's knife in my hand I came out like a cavewoman and was acting like an animal. I slashed this man and protected my father like an animal. I felt tall and I would not regret not one bit if he didn't back up in time and I stab him. I was ready to k*ll. Don't ever mess with family. EVER!

Society is more driven to film you getting hurt than to step in and help. You are right unfortunately in Chicago they are so use to violence in this manner that grown men standing in line and cooking the food didn't stop him. Sometimes it is best to get your food and things and walk away. This guy had a issue with anger and probably a mental health illness also. Even stray dog have more restraint than he did. It is said in the bible that you if you live by the sword you will die by the sword. And in his case he got instant judgment. Maybe this will deter people from behaving like this in the future.

My mom died when I was 12 years old. My siblings ages 8, 5 and 3. My mom taught me how to pay bills and run the household until my great aunt traveled to Pennsylvania to make funeral arrangements and she raised us until we were adults. Also, my first husband was an abuser. The authorities didn’t do anything. They asked what did I do to provoke him. So, what I did to keep my children safe, I had them to live with my great aunt. She lived across the street, so that was a blessing. I stayed with first husband until my last 2 babies ( twins) were in the 12th grade. Afterwards, I decided it was to leave the marriage. I would have done it sooner but they didn’t have laws to protect women especially wives in those days. So I’m blessed that I am a survivor. A few years later I met my second husband and he treated me like a queen and that was a wonderful blessing. So I know exactly what you mean. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I’m so thankful this lady and son had charges dismissed. The only thing I will say is I don’t know how many times I’ve been around ignorant violent and disrespectful persons at restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, etc. Whenever I’m around these individuals I usually ignore them because I will probably never see you again. I’ve been around people playing loud vulgar music and I had my young small daughter or guys with their pants sagging so bad in front of my child and I get thru whatever we’re getting from the place and I leave. On the other hand, my daughter’s father checks all behavior at the door around my daughter, whether telling you to pull your pants up, turn that music down in the presence of my daughter and they always comply. But I started telling him to ignore these people because we won’t see them again after we leave and he said no I can’t do it. So I then asked please ignore these people in mine and our daughter’s presence because things can escalate very quickly and someone might lose their life. But I would hope my son would protect me in a circumstance like this as well.

The idea that this woman had to get a legal license to carry and teach her son gun safety tells me. She doesn't feel protected in her community. As a single mother myself, I feel that when men realize that you are not with a man, they feel empowered to make you feel unsafe. Right now, I have a 63 year old neighbor who feels entitled to always to come in my yard and say and do things he won't do if I am married. But I know my boy is in college, I am not in the position to move. So I'm calm. 2 more years. But the hatred for single mothers out here is real. Or if they know you are alone.

Many asked “where was her husband?”, “That’s what she gets for being a single mom!”, “she should be ashamed of herself for putting herself in a position to traumatize her son to unalive!”. Their reaching is unimaginable, now a single mom raised a young son right to protect his mom and family if necessary, they still fault her. Hello Fumi! It’s a well known polish stand in Chicago! I assume everyone in the polish stand was afraid of what might happen, so people try to stay out of the way. It was so disheartening seeing him beat her like that all over some words. I’m overjoyed the dropped all charges. Now I pray she gets her son the necessary therapy, and relocate to another state.

That's also what's wrong. Other grown men wouldn't step in to protect a woman. I wonder why? Were they scared or was it that she wouldn't shut up for him. I swear, some of these men these days. They don't even know what chivalry is. The number of times I've seen something like this and I've stepped in and the men are just watching. As a society we can't normalize men wailing on women like this. I don't care if they won't shut up. They know they are beating on someone wlphysically weaker than themselves.

Fumi unfortunately this type of violence committed against BW happens across the US. Every 5 hours a BW is toe tagged by men in her own community. BW and especially single mothers who are BW are constantly being degraded and met with violence. What shocked me about this situation was that someone intervened.
My friend was dragged through CTA, the train, while BM looked on and did nothing. In the US, we are on our own and have to protect ourselves.
I sincerely hope that BW worldwide are not experiencing this violence and lack of protection in our communities.

Struggling to make sense of this awful thing... So many times and in so many cultures and countries, single mothers and their children wear a bully bull's-eye target on their backs and for no reason... I specifically avoided having children while single because of so many similar things that I saw my friends who were single mothers going through... and as luck would have it I met my hubby late in life and kids weren't possible. But these single mothers are taking abuse from their own men, from other men and even jealous women.... For a stranger to just open up on a woman and go from arguing to beating her like she was the devil... he got what he deserved and his behavior earned him an express trip to hell. Frankly these two shouldn't have even been arrested in my book, just questioned, to give a statement of record at the police station for the investigation, but I'm betting that no bystanders in the restaurant would corroborate her story. I haven't spent time in Chicago in 20 years, but every restaurant I set foot in on South Side had some kind of security there even then... This restaurant and the people of Chicago are at huge fault for not protecting their citizens. Bring in the National Guard if need be. This madness from these wannabe gangsters has gone on too long. Shame on the Chicago police and DA for leaving their dirty work to a 14 yr old boy to take the trash out but thank God he had the survival skills to handle it.

Fumi sis, you are bringing me to tears with this one. I am with you 100% on everything you said. I'm married, but I have seen my own mom deal with this. I have BEEN that 14 yo boy having to defend my mother from a black man hitting her at an age that was far too young to have to deal with it. My father unfortunately died when I was 8. His family and my mother's always supported and protected me, but there were still times, as an only child, where I had to assume roles beyond my years. It's traumatic. It's hard, and it shapes you for the rest of your life. Now, with my own daughter, I am sooo fiercely protective of her. I am so different than I would be in my 20s as well. I get it all. I even get your frustration with our men and how they didn't stand up for her. It was pathetic and infuriating. I know too man black men who would have stepped in and laid him out, but I know just as many who are like those men in that restaurant that day. It's a damn shame. Then we get villainized for being the way that we are. We do not have the luxury of waiting on help. Thank God for her son.

This story broke my heart💔, and you said it all. This child will have to live with therapy and possibly on antidepressants for the rest of his life.
The "By-stander Effect" is real, we live in a society where people just stand by and watch harm to be metted out on fellow people, and I am sure they were recording the whole thing too while this happened to her 🤦🏽‍♀️😔😡

Beautifully said FUMI - I can relate to all that you said. I have 4 boys and I was a single mother for most of their lives. I married my loving husband at age 58. I wish I met him earlier...smile. But I was attacked by women with box cutters while holding my then 15 month old son. I had to have many stitches and a little therapy. The women were caught and there was court. But I was tested because the women's information, their home, phone#....landed in my hands. I wanted badly to do something deadly to them. But I thought of my little boys. My parents were both deceased and I'm an only girl. Who would take care of my babies and love them like me. That stopped me and made me good thru the court system. Both were sentenced to 5 years in state prison and the Judge was very upset about what they did because a baby was in my arms. A woman at the courthouse said to me, I've been listening to your case and I've been where you are. But I'm here to find out my fate in court because I retaliated and did harm to the woman who did harm to me. Now I'm going to jail. You did the right thing in thinking about your children. You were not weak, because that's how I felt. My prayers to this mother and her son. I hope they can leave Chicago for a better way of life for them both. Thank you again Fumi for sharing your intimate stories and thoughts with us. God bless you...Sorry this was so long.
